  1. Id echo everything said so far. Some common issues, water pump, DSG selector and creaking bushes, but for the price,/ space/ size its great. It can waft or be silly. And with the 4x4 that gap on the roundabout can be yours in all weathers. It is big and even indy servicing adds up (but same on all cars with the bits) it's not a sports car, and likes a drink around town. 8 mile commute in Birmingham is between 24 and 28 mpg. Depends on how many times I have to stop. On an A road drive high 30's , French motorways loaded up low 30's. But at 16 miles a day I'm not bothered.
  2. But a phase inverted signal looks the same as the original signal after a delay of half a cycle. Ie its the timing of the signal that matters otherwise you could end up with twice the noise. (If the signals are in phase) Lotus played with active noise cancelling back in the late 80's for the road cars. Never made it to production.
  3. Worked a dream on 2016 model using OBDeleven. 15 changed to 14, reset and have traffic alerts.
  4. Got a petrol blue 2016 model here too. a real change from the sea of greys.
  5. a real range here. and reassuring to see some high miles. around 80k for me on a 2016 280. bought at 2 yrs old with 40k, so I've reduced the yearly down to average ish.
  6. 2016 280, water pump/ thermostat here too, gear stick dont leave in P in park or similar due to faulty microswitch.m, also a relativley common failure. but its a great Q car, you WILL get up to speed before joining the motorway and damp weather will not stop you getting that gap on a busy roundabout or uphill away from the lights ( should you feel the need) oh , squeaky anti roll bar bushes are standard.
  7. I did both. 2016 standard 280 with dcc, no errors. It feels better but could be placebo effect.
  8. Can I ask who / where you did it and cost of new module? Do you feel any difference between new normal the old normal with the new parameters? Ie is this worth more than a slider? Regards.
  9. I'm so glad you had a very clean car to post, a bit like having clean underpants incase you get hit by a bus. Also a reminder to wash mine after our snow and ice (and salt and grit) (also a Petrol blue estate) This thread should be tagged 'suspense'. Hope it's not damaged.
  10. Also another tall one here, is the rear of the seat at its lowest, ie on max sloping backwards. I do find the mirror us in my sightlins at junctions, but nothing new.
  11. "No external leaks" as ApertureS says are you sure. Or just no signs on the ground? mine (also 280) was leaking from waterpump/ thermostat housing area, but always evaporated before getting round the engine cover to the driveway. I could see "wet" peering down the front of the engine sometimes though.
  12. I'd possibly add the 'Don't leave gear selector in park' or similar, faulty microswitch, 700 to fix, some goodwill from skids if recently out of warranty. Plus sqeaky/groans from suspension bushes (no damage but sounds awful). Had all but the DCC misting but still love it. Re 4x4, see it as skodas 'quatro' useful in snow but a game changer for spirited acceleration in the wet. Never worry about axle tramp again.
  13. Hi I, can see you are also in Brum, I used midland VW in Norton Caine's recently if you are in the north of the region. fWIW, my air quality sensor also throws an error, but the air con is pushing out cold air even in the heatwave. There's a few air con specialists in Brum as well who may be better at fault finding/ tracing
  14. Mine looks exactly the same. Only noticed after some opportunist took advantage of an unlocked car door overnight. every cubby door open. I assumed he grabbed the visor looking for cash or stuff. Will check the guide mentioned.
  15. Driver seat memory stopped working at some point, OBDEleven scan threw up basic setting missing from all driver seat motors. Ran basic settings routine via OBDEleven and all working again.
  16. @Cocain less for rattles etc but many will have stories of unusual noises. For me and as spacelord mentions it was the overall roadnoise inside the cabin that surprised me. ( And that was after a 57 reg Mondeo)
  17. To add to the horror shows, here's my filter after 5 and half years, 68000 miles and one oil change (dealers at 2 years 47000miles, wouldn't do filter). Picture from indie's computer screen hence a bit weird looking. Midland VW near cannock. Very happy with service. £95 for haldex service and clean filter. (Skoda fixed price is £85 just oil change) For reference, first 2 years it seemed to do 100 miles a day (presumably mway), then I got it and generally drive in town, not fast, but lots of spirited roundabout entries etc that must tax the 4x4 as I avoid the wheel spin in damp of prev cars. (Key reason for getting the 280)
  18. Another car wash. Summer wheels back on, manual polish but got tired so pulled the dual action out to apply wax. Even tyre gelled after the grief I got last time 😉
  19. As above plus DSG oil changes . Check the air vent controls actually move the vanes inside, especially in the rear middle housing. Easily kicked and made of chocolate. Fixable - if you have all the bits, but easier for someone else to sort it.
  20. In the UK the 272 came with the newer 7 speed DSG. The change to the engine from 280 and gearbox were both to meet the newer emissions/ fuel consumption tests. Some other markets Oz? Middle East have different engine / gearbox combinations.
  21. Rear seat heating? Control panel, not sure on the pointy thing though.
  22. Nots Sure about IN the cabin, but for around the fuel filler smell check the rubber surrounding the pipe where is emerges. It can ride up and obstruct the filler cap sealing, but still seems to 'lock' on. First time I had this issue the dealer removed rear seat base to look at the fuel gauge sender seal.
  23. £725 Inc 5 hours labour at my local garage. 2016 280 with 65000 mls. I could see dampness looking down between rad and block area.
  24. Lots of interconnected elements in the car. What DID you code with OBD eleven and how did you do it, menus or one hit buttons. I've got OBD eleven and made several standard changes using the coding thread guide with no problems. (2017 car)
  25. Has front discs and pads done. 66000miles. 66 plate. Just under £300 at local garage. As its a 280 its got the 340mm discs which look very big when theres no lip of rust and ckean metal all the way to the edge. Apec apparently.
