  1. Lots of interconnected elements in the car. What DID you code with OBD eleven and how did you do it, menus or one hit buttons. I've got OBD eleven and made several standard changes using the coding thread guide with no problems. (2017 car)
  2. Has front discs and pads done. 66000miles. 66 plate. Just under £300 at local garage. As its a 280 its got the 340mm discs which look very big when theres no lip of rust and ckean metal all the way to the edge. Apec apparently.
  3. Have they left the bottle in the car somewhere? Boot cubby hole?
  4. It's SO dependant on drivibg pattern when in town I've been on a slow but moving in route recently 8 miles so it gets warm , getting around 27mpg, add some stop start traffic jams (with stop start turned off and it's 24 ish) did 31mpg coming home today but 9pm gentle flow the whole way. Previous car struggled to crack 22mpg ( mondeo 2.5T) so I'm still well chuffed and feel like I'm winning. Hitting the brakes kills the consumption, if you can drive on 'accelerator sense' it's much better.
  5. Is there any obvious damage to the wiring between the body and the tailgate up by the hinges? Error message not very helpful. Trim off? to get to the connector, then see if there's power. That might isolate wiring or the light unit.
  6. Paid £725 for a new water pump and thermostat housing to be fitted. 5 hrs labour. 66reg 280. 65000miles. Had had a coolant leak since before last November. Dealer service didn't notice the level was at the bottom of the possible range or top it up. Been Topping up with proper coolant as required once a month. It increased a couple of weeks ago to needing a bit more and I could see 'wet' against the block but nothing hitting the ground ever. Local garage at £60 p/hr. They'll be servicing it from now.
  7. Great colour and shape!😁
  8. I had a quick glance, definitely sliding caliper, can't see why they would have gone dual pot on one side. It's not really track focussed at point if sale and the brakes will trigger ABS ie. provide enough force to lock the fr wheels. Lots of Golf R aimed upgrades out there which may fit?
  9. Did both changes with OBD eleven using the coding (not one click) no issues. MY17 280. Very hard to tell but if coasting if you tickle the throttle you can feel the car shift almost instantly. I think the main pause is turbo lag as most cruising happens <2000rpm and nithing really happens till 2500rpm. Using sport mode to cruise at 3000rpm then mashing it gives a much quicker pick up. Still nothung like the instant surge from a big engined (or light) N/A manual car.
  10. I've noticed that with 'find a petrol station' when the low fuel alarm happens. I imagine it just finds the sites closest to your current position.
  11. Not sure what version this works on but on mine going to the 'search' screen gives letters and numbers and you can search for a directly entered postcode. Saves switching screens at the expense of a extra click once entered.
  12. First, I just like the look of estates over saloons. But it just swallows everything. 29" mtb with just the front wheel off plus 2 kids bikes and the 2 kids or, 2 old style dustbins with lids upright for the tip run plus 2 hippo bags half full of leaves stacked on top of my each other. And as much IKEA stuff as you can push on the trolley. The height thing only be works if the items are tall. Small things stacked high become projectiles if not restrained.
  13. Thanks! 😁. Only 2 years too late for me. I wasn't ready to start shifting away from the OEM spec ET values. Mytyres comes up with some minilite lookalikes at £70+ when you search by my specific car. At least I dont have 'helpful' colleagues asking who stole my hub caps like I did with my mondeo on black winter steelies. (For the cool euro winter look😎) The other advantage of winter tyres is that your summer ones last twice as long🤭
  14. The second reason is why I went for winter wheels. The risk of understeering into the kerb on black ice or compacted snow killing an 18" alloy. I couldn't find a cheap 17" steel so ended up with 17"alloys.
  15. Maybe......I had a petrol smell on my 280, dealer had back seat out looking for leaks~no joy. I noticed the rubber seal around the filter neck was stopping the cap from seating properly even though it was locking into place fine. Pushed it back into place and no more smell. 🤞( 2+ yrs ago)
  16. Sorry, no idea. If it was an old fashioned dellorto it would be the idle air valve with the throttle closed- but it's not. Maybe see if the throttle shuts to 0% but im guessing! So many variables. Premably in a diesel the throttle adjusts fuel flow? Im far happier talking petrol engines. Good luck.
  17. Is it idling or does it think there is throttle input. Ie does it recognise the throttle in this 'new' car is 0%. I recall several values regarding this in obdeleven. No idea if / how you can adjust the offset though.
  18. I imagine its due to being able to coast for much longer than having no throttle input - in gear- on the approach to a stop or slight downhill. Ie low emiisions for a 'long' time rather 'no' emissions for a short time. The DSG seems to be quite keen to engine brake, shifting down to 2nd when i may have just dipped the clutch and covered the brake in a manual.
  19. Looks far better than I thought it woukd, and makes me smile like a 70's viva with a cherry bomb would. ( thats a good thing) Cant remember if you said the engine but assume it wont drip anto anything 'sensitive" when it rains?,
  20. I don't live 'off grid' but just had an email about this, it made me think my current pro was about to expire unless i paid again. Your "all current...." Sentence made me stop and think and realise the emails are purely marketing. Thank you!
  21. 2 real exhausts no less. Wonder if we will ever see one on Police Interceptors? Maybe complete with comedic body roll on the corners. A Scooby it is not.
  22. Thanks! I tried some bike spray- a silicon spray. Worked on the black plastic bit just disappeared from the tyres. For me buying tyre black always reeked of dodgy 80's car dealers.
  23. Decent wash and coat of Autoglym SRP using a dual action polisher. Not neccessarily better but less arm ache and better coverage.
  24. The 280 petrol is only 4x4, how useful it is depends on where / how you like to drive. Im city driving roundabouts and small gaps. 4x4 and DSG makes any gap 'doable'. Damp autumn roads - no issue with wheel spin. But I've never tried launch control.
  25. May be a long shot but stickibg brake calliper? Jack each corner in turn amd see if the wheel turns freely.
