Octavia Mk II 1.9 BXE knocking/ticking noise
I'd agree re my tsi engine potentially having more problems - all good so far and 111k miles covered - but we'll see! It gets very regular oil changes so fingers tightly crossed. I bought as in 2015 no one wanted a big petrol car so incredibly cheap - how times have changed! I was an owner of a 1.9pd Superb for 10 years so am familiar - it was a fab engine. I only mentioned because the words tap/knock were mentioned and it's a documented issue with the OP's engine code - the sound recording is also difficult to hear. Back to the original post:- My gut feel is it's the wrong frequency of tapping for a climate control servo issue - certainly I got used to that noise as I had a faulty/sticking recirculation servo that drove me nuts when I bought my Superb mk 1 nearly new back in 2005. Fixed under warranty - full dash and front seats out job though. The frequency of the noise is ringing a new bell with me - does this car have a dvd drive in the glove box re sat nav etc? Only a thought. Also noticed fan motor replaced - was this new?

Oil Filter Change on Octavia II, 1.6 FSI
Forgot to mention - it's worth covering / protecting the alternator just in case you have an oil spill on removal.

Octavia Mk II 1.9 BXE knocking/ticking noise
There is another scary issue to consider, the later bxe version of the 1.9 pd engine did have a reputation for throwing a con rod:-

Oil Filter Change on Octavia II, 1.6 FSI
Viewing from the front of the car with the bonnet up the oil filter is top left on the engine above the alternator. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/195663029191

Octavia Mk II 1.9 BXE knocking/ticking noise
I'd say a tapping noise on first starting for the day is either a slightly crudded up hydraulic tappet or more likely a touch of piston slap until warmed up. I had a Passat diesel with a dodgy tappet - I found using Wynn's engine flush helped. However my Octavia 1.416v petrol had a knock/tap on first starting that quietened down after a few minutes - piston slap. It did it from near new until we sold it 19 years later and never got any worse.

Rather disappointing mpg.
My sister's 2011 Jazz is the 1.4 , nice car but a bit of a high rev screamer at motorway speeds. Super reliable but you have to keep an eye on rust traps - especially rear wheel arches, the U shape fills up with mud and would eventually rust through if not attended to. Your previous high mpg might be more to do with your previous high annual mileage. I always liked the 1.416v in my Octavia but it sulked when it was eventually retired from my long commute to pottering. The oil breather then eventually clogged with oil mayonnaise because of condensation / oil mixing. I learnt to clear the oil breather pipe bi-annually that passed through the air filter housing.

Rather disappointing mpg.
That won't help your mpg. I had a 2001 Octavia 1.4 16v (same engine) that usually averaged low 40's mpg. Not as good as a tsi as it is direct injection compared to the less efficient port injection of the 1.4 16v. With the same driving my 1.4tsi Superb averages late 40's mpg although if you take it steady on a motorway early 50's possible. Is the Jazz 55 mpg tank to tank measured? - my sister gets nowhere near that in hers although the fuel computer is rather optimistic.

Take it to a specialist that knows what they are doing - steer clear of your current stealer!

Boosting stock turbo
What engine and gearbox codes do you currently have? The problem is the 2.0 non turbo is a totally different old breed 8 valve engine where all the ancillaries inc manifolds are totally different. It also has a reputation for oil burning although the 2.0 mk1 my Dad had was fine to be honest. Also I don't think the old 5 speed box is designed for many more gg's. I think you'd be better getting a complete suitable engine / gearbox although even then there are other differences eg mounts, engine management, Intercooler, cooling system (as I've discovered in the past). Beware engine/gearbox mounts especially where they are bolted to captive nuts in chassis etc - On a 20 year old car these can be seized / snap off etc which can be a big job to sort.

Help! 69 plate 1.0 TSI SE manual clutch gone after 2721 miles!!!!
Isn't your Kamiq a 1.5 DSG auto? This thread is about a manual 1.0 Kamiq. I've been watching this thread with interest as I was considering a 1.0tsi manual. I'm also concerned about the infotainment / SOS woes.

Are all dashcam mounts the same?
A windscreen fitter showed me the best way to remove things such as this - wrap some strong thin twine or fishing line etc around the top edge between device and windscreen then pull backwards and forwards repeatedly to cut through the adhesive. Hope that makes sense..

TMC traffic events no longer being received...firmware update required?
I'm surprised its not mentioned on other non manufacturer specific forums yet - HonestJohn etc

TMC traffic events no longer being received...firmware update required?
Shouldn't your Skoda dealer get back to Skoda UK! Especially as they can demonstrate the issue on multiple cars?

TMC traffic events no longer being received...firmware update required?
Well diagnosed, I was looking for my much older Tomtom to do the same test - but it will no longer turn on.

Octavia error codes on start up
I'd still check just to make sue. It seems on modern cars it's other systems that start failing before car struggles to start. Power steering a common early symptom. At least measure the voltage before first starting to confirm all ok.

Seconded re battery on its way out

TMC traffic events no longer being received...firmware update required?
I know in the UK it's transmitted with the Classic FM broadcast - has somethings changed, failed or expired(eg certificate of some sort)? I can't test anymore as I just use Tomtom technology via phone sim theses days (device and phone app) - my original RDS-TMC device has died.

Vehicle errors
Are you sure you can't reject the car? :- https://www.theaa.com/car-buying/legal-rights The first 30 days are important re rejection but so is 30 days to 6 months.

Is it a good idea to buy a high miler car?
Yup - I have a similar problem, being large and 6ft 4" with size 13 feet with a 6ft 5" son - although he has now left the nest (well some of the time). Many cars are not suitable for long distances which is why I've had two Superbs since 2005. The position of the B pillar is my "big"gest issue as with many cars my elbow lands on this and I end up looking out of the back window if turning right. The Superb has none of these issues! The slight future problem for me is we eventually need to downsize to one car and Mrs BJ finds the Superb too large to drive! Mrs BJ has a Fiat Panda - with me driving just think "Mr Incredible!"

Vrs TDI uphill struggle!
Any codes logged - 3k limit sounds like limp home mode? When my previous Superb diesel had a vacuum control issue (different pd diesel engine) it used to restrict the power but it did put the EML light on - sort of ok on the flat but was a pain going up hill. If you reset it ran fine for a while.

Vrs TDI uphill struggle!
How empty is the fuel tank? I don't have this problem with my Superb (only a 1.4tsi) but in the past with a fastish car (Peugeot 306 gti-6) going up a local steep hill giving it a few beans if your petrol tank was low it would "hold back" at the steep bits. The combination of going uphill and accelerating somewhat (ahem) was causing fuel starvation.

1u0861867 Baggage net
When I got my 2001 1.4 Octavia Classic new it came with a luggage net. I'm not sure we ever used it in the 19 years the car was owned by me or my son.
