  1. You'd need to read through the build sheet, the PR codes differ depending on what has been fitted at the factory. I can get the PR sheet for you, if you send me your reg via a message I'll send it over.
  2. It sounds to me like the garage are just firing up the parts-cannon until the issue goes away, they should be doing a proper diagnosis, especially for a reoccurring fault. The ash level is the important one to look at, this isn't combustible therefore isn't removed in the regen process. If the DPF ash levels are high it will have less capacity and will result in the lights coming on. If you have high ash levels, you could look at having it chemical cleaned and see what results you get. I'm sure you already know this, but DPF equipped cars aren't the best for short trips/town driving as the soot loading is often heavier and they don't get the chance to complete regeneration cycles or do passive regens.
  3. Just had a quick look on the system without using a VIN, information is below. I'm happy to check the information and give you the numbers if you want to send me your registration number by message..
  4. Hello and Welcome.
  5. I've seen my DPF regenerate in as little as 80miles, that is with loads of short trips not allowing the car to reach full operating temp. I did a return trip to London on Saturday and it did 343miles between regens.. with mixed driving it is usually around 200miles between each. If your DPF health is already poor due to yours or the previous owners driving habits, the DPF will be less efficient and have to regen more often. I have the VAGDPF app, so I can monitor/check the DPF state, duration, distance etc - worth it for a couple of quid on the app store. If your figures all look ok then it could be an issue with a sensor, or just that your driving patterns don't suit the car.
  6. This is very much going to depend on who you choose to carry out the work, and the quality of parts selected. Skoda would be around the £500 mark.
  7. The Mk3 VRS TDi is a charge cooler rather than intercooler. There isn't much on that side of the engine that has oil that could leak into the arch, not unless it is being forced up by the crank pulley or cooling fan blowing it back through. Is it definitely engine oil? Is your oil level dropping?
  8. Perfect, mine isn't the Canton system so this should do the job! Thank you.
  9. Hi All, I am looking to install an underseat subwoofer to my 66 Plate Octavia. I've spoken to Vibe Audio who have said they can supply this lead which makes the whole process plug and play, but it only fits 'Non-Pre Amplified Vehicles Only'. I believe my system is the MIB2 (Small screen) and it sounds awful, so presume I'll be ok with this.
  10. I upgraded the bulbs in my octavia recently, here is a photo. Link LED Bulb
  11. It should be VW507. If the car is running that oil, I would be getting it changed as soon as possible to avoid any damage to the engine/dpf.
  12. As above, older ones require a hub and the newer ones are Bluetooth, so just need the app. If you have any smart home devices such as Alexa/Google Assistant, they integrate really well for voice control. Nearly every bulb in my house (and outside) is Hue, never had an issue with them.
  13. Just beat me to it!
  14. Welcome to the forum! I'm sure you'll enjoy the Kamiq.
  15. Drivetec are decent for everyday driving. I've fitted loads over the years (I'm in the trade) and had no issues to shout about.
  16. I would day your MPG is about right, given the time of year etc. I have the 2.0TDi 184 DSG combo, getting low-mid 40's around town and mid 50's on the motorway at a constant speed. It will happily sit in the 60s in the summer months.
  17. I guess it depends if your car is 'breathing heavy'. I'm not sure it would be beneficial on a small capacity NA engine. Have you checked if your intake is excessively coated in oil? I have a 1.8T 'track' car with one fitted, it catches quite a bit of crap over a period of time, however, the engine is obviously being worked very hard.
  18. I can check the PR code for you, if you want to PM me your registration I'll send the file over.
  19. Nothing wrong with Hella, I've used plenty of their stuff. Wahler and Peirburg are two other good brands. I've had an issues with Elstock and ECPs cheap option (Starline?), both refunded under warranty but a pain in the arse regardless. £160 isn't a bad price for Hella, it is around £140 on my trade account (Part Number 6NU358167-021).
  20. I believe these are similar to Click Mechanic and Who Can Fix My Car, they use 'OEM' parts so they will be aftermarket parts from the likes of Whaler, Bosch, Delphi etc; they won't be VAG branded. The parts are usually sourced from places like GSF Car Parts, Euro Car Parts or other local factors. It is worth checking the item is a new unit or a remanufactured unit and the warranty period. I've seen some shocking remans recently. EDIT: I've just checked on my system, they range in price from £120 - £250, depending on brand and if going for a brand new unit or not.
  21. I would personally get basic service and health check. There is no harm in changing the Oil, Filters and plugs, it is relatively inexpensive. I'd then be looking to have the antifreeze and brake fluid tested to determine the health of those. It is always worth having safety critical items checked such as steering and suspension, just to be on the safe side.
  22. My oil temp sits around 95-102 general driving, prolonged heavy load will see over 105'c. I thought there was an issue when I first got the Octavia, most my other cars have sat at 80-90 and have only crept over 100 on track days.
  23. Hi, I ordered one from GSF Car Parts a few years back, they ordered it direct from TRW and it came in red. Not sure if they will special order you one, but definitely worth a try with your local branch. EDIT: Just found two part numbers, could be worth a shot on google/eBay BHN1143E (TRW) or CA3239RP1 (Brake Engineering)
  24. I don't think the VRS is a huge target in terms of theft, I live in Birmingham and they don't seem to come up on the 'stolen car' pages on social media. I can recall may be one or two. The disclock steering locks/parking bollards are a good visual deterrent for most chancers, they can be removed quite easily for those with the knowhow. I also think it increases the chances of them breaking into your house for the keys. The Ghost and Pandora immobilisers have good reviews, it's another invisible layer of security.
  25. They are a split sump from memory, so worth checking which part is actually leaking as you could save some money. It could just be that the mating surfaces need a good clean and the silicone gasket renewed, probably around £40 in parts for basic stuff and a few hours worth of time.
