  1. Or stretch it like this Skoda Estelle. https://auto****e.com/topic/41057-6-door-skoda-estelle-limo-and-other-elongated-****e/
  2. Mine went nearly 2 years ago. It turned out to be a broken bracket for the front ACC radar, although I couldn't see any damage or marks on it, so it's a bit of a mystery as to how it was broken. It was repaired by Sinclair Skoda, Swansea, so it's the wrong end of Wales for you!
  3. If you click on this link, you can see your manual online. https://manual.skoda-auto.com/004/en-com/Models
  4. I use Redex AdBlu, which is about £15-£20 for 10 litres bought locally and I've never had any problems with it. If the AdBlu is ISO 22241 which the Redex is, I assume it should be OK? I've not seen Hico for sale in the UK, but looking online it says it's ISO 22241 compliant. Edited as text was different sizes.
  5. I was there in November last year and hired a Cupra Leon for the duration of our stay. That had a heated steering wheel but it was far too warm to try it out!
  6. I don't do very much car maintenance now, but I did when I was younger and I bought two flexible metal rods with handles on the top. At the other end, one had a magnet and the other had a grab similar to those you see in amusement arcades that you open and close from the handle. I've had them for about 50+ years and have helped in situations like this, though back then there was much more room around engines. I can't remember what car it was, but there was one where, being tall, I could put one leg on the ground through the engine compartment to make it easier to work on some areas!
  7. From the spelling of the name and the road numbers, my money is on Finland. I was there in the winter of 1998/99 and it can be very cold. I'll not go there again in the winter as I ended up with pneumonia and spent Christmas to New Year in hospital on a drip!
  8. I've just downloaded from the Skoda Update Portal and it worked fine and I now have the 2024 maps. I thought it may show the default speed limit in Wales as 20 mph, but it still shows 30 mph as for the rest of the UK.
  9. I was in my car waiting for an hour for SWMBO today and tried mine. I imagine there's some sort of mechanism at the back of the lid that operates the closing of the lid that's not operating properly on yours and will need to be replaced? You can access online manuals that I think you have to pay for (I've never used them) and these may give an answer or show you how to remove it. Have you checked underneath the lid when it's open to see there's nothing trapped up there that's stopping it closing?
  10. Has someone changed the units from UK gallons to US gallons? The UK gallon is 160 fluid ounces, compared to 133.23 for the US gallon, which would give about a 17% fall in mpg.
  11. Has the mpg dropped due to a change in the weather? A colder spell would, of course, give longer warming up times. Or maybe it's the winter diesel fuel? Are you using the same fuel from the same garage?
  12. I've recently returned from a 9 night stay in Tenerife and we hired a Cupra Leon ST auto hybrid for the duration of our stay. It was good, but I prefer the Superb, though to be fair the Superb is more expensive. However, if I was 22 years old rather than 72, I'd probably prefer the Cupra!
  13. I've topped my coolant up with a small amount a couple of times in the 6½ years I've owned the car. I keep a small bottle mixed in the correct ratio in the boot in case I ever need some when I'm away from home. Enjoy your holiday in the Canaries. I'm in Tenerife and you've arrived just when the weather has turned a bit cooler and there's not much sun - it's only 22 degrees!
  14. From what langers2k says above, mine must be working by the default fusion option. In Wales, it's currently reverting to 30 mph when I'm away from the 20 mph signs, but I guess it'll be corrected when the maps are updated. I'm currently in Tenerife and we've hired a Cupra Leon ST for the duration of our stay. It's got a large navigation screen that looks similar to the one that'll be in the latest Superb and the TSR shows various signs that mine doesn't, such as slippery road, bends, crossroads, etc, so maybe the new Superb will show these as well?
  15. I had my traffic sign recognition unlocked by a fellow member with VCDS and it only ever shows the speed limit from the sign via the camera and not from the navigation. I assume the advantage is that the limit should be correct as any recent changes or temporary limits will be shown. However, as you point out, if it picks up the wrong sign then the wrong speed is displayed. As far as I'm aware, the only other sign it displays is the rarely used (in the UK) no overtaking sign. I was quite impressed with this when travelling through other European countries, such as Germany, in that it ignores no overtaking signs when they have a plate underneath showing it only applies to lorries or cars towing a trailer or caravan. What other signs did you see it showing or was this on a later model? When travelling abroad it also shows dual limits, such as French motorways which are 130 kph in the dry and 110 kph in the rain.
  16. I often get Somerset announcements in South Wales!
  17. You can't buy the new model yet, but you can read the manual by going through Skoda Superb Guides, then manuals, then click the first post. It initially comes up with error 404, but if you click on services, it can be accessed by clicking on manuals, then NEW Superb. Note: Edited because link I posted last night and this morning didn't work without a login and password.
  18. Mine too has been inoperative in snow, but the one time it stopped working in fine weather and when it hadn't been deactivated was due to a broken bracket holding it in place. I don't know how it happened as there were no marks to indicate it'd been knocked and it suddenly went off when I was driving along a road with no other traffic nearby.
  19. I covered 5,000 miles between MOTs last year. 2,600 miles were covered in 3 weeks on a trip to Lithuania, which leaves 2,400 miles for the remaining 49 weeks. It can be very wet here in Wales and sometimes the pads stick to the discs, but the car's usually used at least a couple of times a week to go shopping etc, so I've never been unable to free them by driving off.
  20. It's not just the mileage but the age can bring failures. Mine's the same age as freelunch's and it received an advisory last year that the original rear tyres were starting to perish, so they were duly changed. Ironically, if I'd done a higher mileage and had to replace the rear tyres due to wear, I wouldn't have received that advisory!
  21. I've never noticed any noise from the mudflaps, though I haven't driven at very high speeds which I assume would create more noise. Even on unlimited sections of German autobahn, I've never gone above 80 mph (about 130 kph).
  22. I've always filled up AdBlue myself using brands such as Redex that I can buy locally, making sure it meets the specification in the handbook and I've never had a problem with it. I've gone for all season tyres, but my circumstances are different to yours. I don't go skiing and in Wales there's rarely much snow on the road and most of the time it's cool and damp, even in the summer, which is ideal for these tyres. Also, being retired means that if the weather is bad, I don't go out in the car until it's cleared. The only extra I've added are mudflaps all round to try and protect the sides of the car.
  23. I can zoom in and out by rotating the right hand knob, but mine is a 2016 model, so yours is probably different as I know the later models had larger screens.
  24. I posted this up recently on another query regarding fuel consumption and this is my result on a 3 week trip to Lithuania in May/June. As the car was running continuously all day during the trip, I didn't notice any regenerations. However, I'm retired and when I'm at home the car can spend several weeks on short journeys around town, especially during the winter. The fuel consumption is worse at this time and drops to around the figures or even lower than those quoted in the original post and this is when I notice the regenerations and about a couple of times a year (usually in the winter) I have to drive up and down the Brecon Bypass a few times to complete them. Yes, I know a diesel isn't the right car for me, but I bought it when I was still working and I'll switch to a petrol when I decide to change it.
  25. Mine's a 2016 190 diesel and this was my consumption after a trip to Lithuania from Brecon in May/June earlier this year.
