2023 Superb vs 2016 Superb
Last October I went from a 2016 2.0 TDi to a 2023 TSi and I'd go along with what's been said already. I find the TSi is much more responsive and doesn't hesitate like the TDi did. I haven't made any long journeys in it yet, but we've a trip to Lithuania scheduled for later in the year that'll put it through its paces. A couple of things I don't like with the sat nav on the 2023 car are You can't enter you destination using coordinates. Before I could pinpoint the exact spot I wanted to go, but it's not so easy now. I've also noticed that if you try and put in the street name in the city where you're heading, it doesn't always pick it up, even if it's a main street. I end up adjusting the destination using the map to find where I want to go. The list of destinations are in the order you entered them and not in alphabetical order. OK, you can search for them, but the in the 2016 car it was easy to scroll down the list. Another irritation is having to change the mode to individual each time the car is started, but overall I'm pleased with it.

MIB2.5 Upgrade Issues
I don't know if I'm alone here, but I liked the old fashioned analogue dials more than the dials in the virtual cockpit. They were big and clear to read and you can see both mph and kph on the same dial. The fuel and temperature dials were better than the bars than come in the virtual cockpit. There are many advantages to the virtual cockpit and its various displays, but it's a pity it can't replicate the old analogue dials.

Non convex left rear view mirror glass - anyone know who sells one
I also remember Mercedes from about 30 years ago only fitted an electric adjustable mirror to the passenger side, with the driver's mirror just having an internal lever.

Thinking of changing, these are the things I love and will miss about the Superb...
On our annual journeys from the UK to Lithuania to visit SWMBO's family and friends, we have taken a folding bed for SWMBO to stay with her father when she visits him alone, a computer chair for her father and a 6' Christmas tree for her nephew. Not all together, of course, but they were in addition to our luggage for 3 weeks away and a cold box in the boot plugged into the socket. There's not many cars that would swallow so much without any problems.

I don't think you'll get a reply from him as he hasn't visited the site for over two years. If you look at his activity, there's been a couple of similar queries to yours over the past couple of years that haven't been answered. Sorry😣

There are companies who offer to repair sat navs if you search online who could be cheaper, but I've never used any of them, so maybe someone else with experience of them can recommend a repairer.

Superb III 2.0TSI strongest version engines
I changed from a 2016 diesel 190 to a 2023 TSI 190 in October this year and I'd agree with all of the things in the above list that are better, though I'd add a couple of minor improvements that are useful but not essential:- Memory buttons for the passenger seat. SWMBO doesn't drive and she likes the seat as far back as it goes and the backrest reclined more than most people like, so there's not much room behind her (even in the Superb!) on the rare occasions that there's someone sitting behind her, so she has to move her seat and she always has trouble when finding her favourite position again. It also saves me from some grief if I move her seat when cleaning the car. Keyless entry for the rear doors. I often want to put my coat on the back seat before I drive off, so it saves me having to touch the front door first to open the back door. On things that are worse, I haven't noticed any problem with DSG being very reluctant to change down, I don't use Apple Carplay and I haven't used satnav yet, so I can't comment about it.

Front radar
I had a similar problem in 2021 and it's a mystery as to how it happened as the problem was that the bracket on the front radar cover was broken. I didn't hit anything and the message appeared as I was driving north up the A470 around Merthyr Tydfil after leaving the Cyfarthfa Retail Park. There were no other vehicles nearby and there was no sound of hitting anything in the road. In the retail car park, there's a section I always chose where the spaces are a bit wider and away from the area where most other shoppers park. It's a single row and I park in forwards to make loading the boot easier. The front is facing a small grass verge and then a hedge and there was nothing near the front of the car to damage it. If it was damaged prior to this, could it have worked for a while until the unit moved sufficiently to stop working? There's no sign of any damage on the front. It's possible it could have been kicked on the front by some yob in Cyfarthfa with nothing better to do as it was keyed on the rear nearside door in that car park about 7 years ago. I took the car to Sinclair Skoda in Swansea and they replaced the bracket and calibrated the front assist so it's all back as it should be. They charged £60.00 for the initial diagnostic and £36.00 for replacing the bracket and the calibration, so it cost me a lot less than I thought it would. They charged for only half the diagnostic fee as they found the problem without running the full test.

My Skoda
I wonder if I'll need the update too? I notified the dealer I couldn't get it to work shortly after I had the car, so maybe I'll not have to pay if an update is needed or is that wishful thinking? I guess you're not in the UK as you mention the cost of the update in Euros? It does seem excessive if the car just sits there whilst the update is carried out as I assume nobody has to be with the car all the time it's being carried out.

Both my 2016 and 2023 models opened and closed the boot with the virtual pedal. Mine were both hatchbacks but I assume an estate should be the same?

My 2016 Superb had a dimming passenger mirror, but my 2023 Superb doesn't. I believe they fitted non-dimming mirrors from somewhere between these dates, but I don't know when they stopped fitting them. I'm sure someone here'll have the answer.

My Skoda
I too have had the same issue since I bought my car nearly 2 months ago. I tried a few times to connect when I first bought it but haven't bothered to try again for a while. The dealer made a courtesy call after I bought the car and I explained that I had this problem and he said I could book the car in so that they could sort it out, but it's 40 miles each way to their garage in Swansea, so I'll wait until I need to be in that area.

What have you done to your Superb III today?
I trading in my 2016 Superb earlier this month when it was 8 years old and it was still on its original battery. I never had any trouble starting and usually stop start would kick in within a few minutes of leaving home at the first junction.

Tv tuner
I had a TV tuner on my mk II that I often used when SWMBO went shopping. It'd run for a while with the engine turned off, them it'd warn you that the battery needed charging, so I'd start the engine for a few minutes and turn the engine off again and continue to watch it either until SWMBO returned or the warning reappeared. It's over 7 years since I had this car, so I can't remember how much time the TV would run for before the battery was depleted.

Which engine/trim level would you have?
I had a 2016 2.0 TDi 190 L&K until just over a week ago, when I changed it for a 2023 2.0 TSi 190 L&K. I've covered between 6 and 8 thousand miles each year since I retired at the end of 2017 (lockdown excepted). I've been very happy with both of the cars, but switched to petrol due to my annual mileage and also because a lot of my mileage is in the summer driving to Lithuania every year to visit SWMBO's family and friends, so winter time mileage can be quite low and the car doesn't get a chance to warm up properly. I like the L&K trim and I use just about all of the extras that trim gives me, so I'm happy to pay extra for it. I know it's not to everyone's taste, but it depends what you want from the car and it's a personal choice. It's early days yet to say much about fuel consumption for the petrol engine, but last week I went from Brecon to Hereford and, due to traffic, I was following others most of the way at 45-50 mph and it was showing just over 50 mpg when I arrived, which seems pretty good.

Spare Wheel instead of repair kit?
When I bought my first mk III in June 2017 when it was 8 months old, I agreed on the price of the car with a rescue wheel and a jack included, though it also came with a compressor and bottle of tyre seal as well because the spare wheel wasn't included when it was new. My 2023 mk III that I bought last week fortunately me with a rescue wheel and a jack as the option was ticked when it was new, though of course I don't have a compressor and bottle of tyre seal this time. I wouldn't be without a spare as I don't want to be stranded in the back of beyond or when abroad with a damaged tyre that can't be sealed, though luckily I've not needed either tyre (yet!).

My new (to me) Superb
I collected my "new" Škoda Superb L&K 2.0 TSi 190 on Monday this week, which is a 73 plate registered in September 2023. I'd originally planned to buy a new mk IV, but circumstances have changed and we're currently selling our house and with little movement in the housing market at the moment, I can see us getting a bit less than we wanted for it if we want a sale to enable us to move on. This car was a big saving on a new one, so the money saved will help with the move. Our previous Superb was 8 years old and it was diesel. I'm 73 and retired some years ago, so we don't cover as many miles as we used to, especially in the winter, so I wanted to change to a petrol. Also, living in Brecon, we're a long way from a Škoda agent or a Škoda specialist if anything goes wrong, so hopefully a newer car will just need regular servicing for the next few years. The old car was brilliant and never let us down, taking us to 13 European countries over the years, including an annual trip (lockdown excepted) to Lithuania to visit SWMBO's family and friends. The new L&K has a number of standard features over the last one that are welcome, but it also has several optional extras including wireless charging, area view, travel assist and park assist, a spare wheel and jack and a rear wash/wipe. I've just about found my way around everything apart from connecting to My Škoda app, which I've tried several times without success. I'll just have to keep trying! The only bit that was not very nice was the road fund licence of £600, compared to £35 for the old car! Anyway, here are some photos after I drove for the first 500 yards from the garage with SWMBO managing to get into one). Yesterday, I went to Hereford in the wet with many farmers on the road in and out of their fields with their tractors, so it's already dirty.

Induction air intake, flooded roads
I was in Hereford in January this year when it was very wet for a hospital appointment. Going there from Brecon was OK with a little water on the road, but going home it was much worse. I got as far as Willersley on the A438, but the water beyond there was too deep and some people were pushing a car out of the water that stopped in the middle, so I turned round and went home via Abergavenny. Even a Volvo XC90 I was following gave up and turned round at the same point. Unfortunately, I had to drive back through the water I'd already been through as in these photos courtesy of SWMBO.

Scandinavian DRL's?
I remember driving in London in the 1960s and 1970s where everybody drove on sidelights only and if you had dipped headlights on, they'd flash at you. Lighting up times were probably more appropriate in the past when cars had dynamos and many had 6 volt electrics and they only switched on anything electrical when absolutely necessary. On Radio 2's weekday afternoon programme when it was presented by Steve Wright, he often mentioned lighting up times. I think he mentioned it out of interest as one of his factoids to compare the times between north and south and, to a lesser degree, east and west. I've had my DRL's coded to come on front and rear, especially as we drive abroad every year in countries that require you to have lights on 24/7. I've also set the dipped headlights to come on if I use my wipers and I've also set the sensitivity level to the highest.

Best ever MPG
I often get over 50 mpg and sometimes over 60 mpg up to a maximum of about 65 mpg. I usually get 60 mpg passing through the Netherlands, where it's flat and the speed limit is 100 kph. Earlier this year returning from Lithuania, I managed to go from Poland to Dunkirk with one tankful, which is about 700 miles with the back seats folded down and the car very full. For the whole trip, it returned 55.3 mpg.

Do you have a photo of your Beagle in there please? We had a Beagle from 1959 to 1969 that my parents bought from Pipewell Hunt Kennels in Northamptonshire. I remember very well going to select the puppy they wanted, but it wasn't easy with so many excited little dogs all running around us. He travelled all over the UK and Ireland with us, including the Fishguard-Rosslare ferry before it was roll on-roll off. We had conventional saloons back then, so he sat on the back seat with my sister and I or in the front passenger footwell with my mother, all of us unrestrained of course, which seems very unsafe now.
