  1. I had Hankook Ventus Evo on my Passat after the original continentals wore out. I thought they were okay to be honest, definitely more confidence inspiring than the primacy. Current superb came with Bridgestone Potenza. I've found them to wear quite quickly (which I take as a good thing) they don't screech much either :)
  2. I love tyre topics because nobody agrees! Hard disagree from me on the Michelin Primacy. They do last for ages because they are too hard. They are woeful in the wet and the winter as a result.
  3. When it's closing you can just push the button by the numberplate and it'll stop. However it closes so slowly and can even be upset by a stiff breeze, I'm not sure it's got enough power to pop the glass? Pushing the interior button when going up does the same to stop it hitting an object above the car. Top tip, if the boot is really crammed: if you shove down on the lid as it hits the soft close latch, it'll help it lock without getting upset. The modern equivalent of throwing the last thing in and slamming the door really quickly!
  4. I find my ventilated seats work noticeably with the AC on and windows closed, but are barely perceptible with the A/C off and the windows open. That would stand to reason I think, they just circulate the ambient air? Wasn't there someone on here recently that had an issue with AC running warm after a period of time, which turned out to just need a regas because of low levels? Sounds similar to me
  5. These are available in a fantastic shade of orange
  6. To be fair, having come from a Passat with MIB 2.5 to a superb with MIB3, I'd actively avoid another new VW/Skoda/Seat for that reason alone.
  7. Yeah I remember reading about the 1.5 issue. It always struck me as odd, surely they noticed the problem in testing?
  8. I guess they have enough product data to show that a HV system fuse blowing is a rare event in the first instance? If it happened when you were driving I'm sure the bang would be enough to get you out of the car anyway!
  9. @roottoot via lex. Interestingly they advise the repair time is 6 hours! I can imagine the appetite for a the dealer to have that taking up the ramp for 6 hours is slim to nil. I'm going wait and get it done with the next service.
  10. Just had the same letter through. No doubt there's going to be a long wait to book it in!
  11. I think they get away with it because of the rotator switch, therefore you have the tell-tale that way
  12. Just checked mine. Auto- green Sidelights - green Dipped - white I'm almost certain on the Passat they illuminate individually and the auto symbol turns orange when the lights turn on with the sensor.
  13. This looks normal to me. I think the Passat has a slightly better / clearer light pattern. @MarkyG82
  14. My logic was that the DC/DC convertor must be isolated from the jump points anyway, but that's not guaranteed. It might be safer to buy a lithium ion jump pack from Halfords etc
  15. Reverse connection from the jump start terminals will do the same job to jump start another car. In terms of needing to run the engine, this isn't necessary in the iV. There is no alternator, the 12v battery is topped up constantly by a DC/DC convertor connected to the traction battery, so you'll not get a higher output by having the engine on. Edited to add: you will need the Skoda to be "on" in e-mode For reference, to force an engine start you turn the car on, engage hybrid then set battery percentage to max, it'll automatically kick the ICE into life
  16. Agree with @ApertureS. incidentally front flaps almost entirely eliminates stuck tar, but they're seen as undesirable in the UK!
  17. I'd advise taking it to a normal garage and getting them checked. If there's something up you can get them replaced there and have enough change from the dealer quote for a nice meal out.
  18. Mine requires the press and hold. But will automatically manoeuvre to the right position when you unlock the car if you use driver profiles for each key
  19. iV is a belt. Service interval for that is elusive though. I think the default guidance on that remains 5 years without a specific mileage.
  20. If they updated something and it's broken, take it back. On my Passat they coded in wired AA but disabled all Bluetooth. Someone has configured it wrong
  21. I'm getting 2.5 with the A/C off at the moment!
  22. Yeah I found using the granny cable it never performed as desired. I must admit an improvement of the superb over the Passat is that the guess-o-meter isn't available on the virtual cockpit. When you can't see it, you stop fretting over it!
