The Duster is my Mum's. I've driven it a couple of times but really didn't like it due to the same seating position. I felt as if I was too high even in an already high car. It's the reason the Fabia was bought for me to learn in. However, I may need to drive it on Sunday again because of the crack on the windscreen on my Fabia.

Our Duster is classed as an estate on the V5 and can carry two bikes comfortably, or a large shrub. It has an insanely small turning circle too, comparable, if not less than my Fabia. The 1.0 TCe engine is fairly spritely too since the car is pretty light. We came from a 2010 Toyota Auris TR 1.6, so even with slightly less power, it is enough for us with often five and a dog in the car.

These Fabia estates are just excellent load luggers, or handy if you have a dog or dogs. I believe the only true alternative is the Dacia Logan, which is also a lot cheaper than the Fabia estate. Sure, levels of equipment are lower, but they still offer a decent package for the price, you can easily spec a model with air conditioning and other luxuries for less than the base price of a Fabia estate. In the household, we have a 2019 Duster 4x2 Comfort 1.0 TCE 100 and a 2014 Sandero Ambiance 0.9 TCE 90, the latter of which is basically a Logan without a backside. The Sandero can seat five comfortably enough. In terms of size, the Logan has these dimensions: And the Mk3 Fabia estate has these dimensions: The Logan is a longer car, but it's also a narrower car with a bigger fuel tank at 55L IIRC. It's probably also lighter than a Mk3 Fabia estate too. I reckon this is where buyers of Fabia estates will go if the Scala doesn't suit their tastes. The Logan was also offering a diesel option for a lot longer, with a ~110hp 1.5 DCI engine from Renault. Renault being their parent company of course.

Och you've no long missed a vRS that was up for sale in NI that cropped up on the AutoTrader for me. Something like 190k miles and a grand, no MOT and a touch of rust IIRC. Again, getting it to ROI is easier said than done.

It's all coming together nicely! You'd maybe be better off finding a vRS with black interior trim for breaking instead of having to dye and paint things. Just depends really. I reckon it'd look the part with some of the lower dash in black, if you don't mind me saying.

I like the roar of the 3-pot, which is a problem for the wallet... Nope, couldn't keep up with it. Disappeared o'er the horizon too quickly.

I usually just give it a wee bit of welly to prevent soot buildup on mine, at least once on a journey, usually coming from a 40 on my usual route to national speed limit (NSL), just leave in third until doing NSL then into fifth. Only having 64hp in a heavy yet small car means I'm more obligated to give it welly to keep up with quick things... like milkfloats...

I don't know if the way you drive could have anything to do with it? It could be choked up with soot, especially if you're gentle with the car.

Swings and roundabouts, as they say. The scratches on the screen can be a pain when it's sunny or someone with really bright headlights is coming past and it's got the same issue as the tailgate glass with the delamination (?) or the black paint coming off. I don't mind paying the £75 to get it replaced if it means it'll be slightly more presentable.

Thanks Lee. Was nearly crushed by a log lorry cutting a corner on a particularly bad bit of the A713 (Tourist route to Castle Douglas, I live along it) that chucked off a small bit of wood. It bounced off the windscreen in at the pillar, skited* up the windscreen leaving a series of chips and taking paint off my a-pillar. T-Cut and a touch-up pen should do the job. *Scots term

Let me know how much of an improvement this makes. I imagine it'll be quite good. I'm needing to do the same with my BME Furby too, handles like a dinghy on rough seas on most A and B roads.

This has been posted in other threads, but here we are. Got AutoGlass coming out on Tuesday. Was a wee bit of wood or a stone chip that just bounced off of the windscreen after coming off of a log lorry. It's not only knackered my windscreen, but it's took some of the paint off of the a-pillar. So that'll be a job with the T-Cut and the touch-up paint.

I liked the black one so much I bought the silver one... @skomaz made me think of my walkmans (walkmen?)
