No longer fighting my iMac G3! :)
10.4.2 on CD I believe, got it from here. The combo update will be on a USB somewhere. I think it's from a retail disc. I know the model-specific ones were grey for quite a while, as the C2D MacBook I borrowed a while back had the grey install disc.

Moving from an ICE vehicle to an EV - my first 1000 miles and observations on The Good and The Bad
Aldi in Prestwick.. Worked in Carsphairn but not in Renfrew for us lol in the Punto. But you are correct George, it's a chain reaction, almost.

It is wrong to assume that: A. People have the infrastructure available locally to effectively and conveniently own an EV car. B. That people and business owners can afford to install said infrastructure for people to charge their electric cars. C. That people are able to check an internet-enabled device to know of a non-functioning charger on their pre-planned route while travelling said route. I do not wish to come off as aggressive. I am merely stating observations.

Aye that's about right for me too, since I average 43-47mpg usually. Thank you

About an hour and a half depending on walking speed for me, or 10 minutes in the car.

At least with the ICE Fabia, I'm able to venture to most places on Scotland on one tank of petrol. I usually factor in a stop on the return leg to make sure I have petrol to return home. The issue is the lack of consistency with chargers for EVs in Scotland, as you have said, George. It could be an inconvenience (or even a danger, depending on if you break down) to arrive at a place where chargers are either unavailable or are out of use.

1.2 TSI Sudden knocking noise!
You mustn't forget the seatbelts too, or at least that's what my driving theory book preached.

How economical are we talking, approximately? Do you have any sort of rough figure? I'd like to see how it stacks against my current shed.

Disclaimer: I do not own or can afford an electric car, so this is merely simple observations from an ICE-only owner. You may disagree if you do so wish, I just wish to provide my insight on current electrification measures. Nonsensical ramblings I have produced should be taken "with a pinch of salt" because sometimes even I forget what I'm rambling about. I live in the sticks as such, Ayr, SW Scotland is a rough approximation of my location, I don't wish to give out more. There are five Electric Vehicle charging points about 5 miles in the nearest village/small town, which are often out of order, or being absorbed by council vans constantly so do not provide a consistent service that one could rely on. I shop at an Aldi supermarket "in town", which is 12.5 miles exactly according to my Fabia's computer, it has no charging ports, neither does the Lidl across the road (and then some). My only way of charging an electric vehicle at this point in time, without inconvenience upon myself, is to park it where I park every Wednesday to go to University, or to get a home charger, as my car requirements dictate that it needs to always be ready for me to "get in and go" where the situation requires. So certainly, I do not live hundreds of miles away from human civilisation as you said, but I felt that it was critical to mention that being in a rural farming/ex-mining community can provide a little hinderance for myself when the infrastructure is so limited at the moment. Until I have the means and finances to procure an electric car, then I will drive what I can afford in the most environmentally conscious way possible. That is all.

Ml14 - proud Skoda owner from Florence, Italy
Hi and welcome to the forums!

Annoying buzzing noise from Swing Plus unit screen. Skoda says it's normal.
Yes

Rear door speakers.
Pioneer for me, bass response and the rears also have a better filler sound, or at least my back passengers say so.

Rear door speakers.
Solid choice. I was originally going to go Sony, but I saw the Kenwood at a good price and bought it. Then I got the Alpine for £15 and never looked back lol. My speakers were cooked too as a result of me trying to get my rave playlist to play with any form of bass.

Electric windows not working
AFAIK, @Wino does repairs on these.

Tarting up the trim.
Does this count? It's for my dog to make sure that my upholstery doesn't suffer when his wiry little coat sheds. I found most of the hair was sticking to the seat bases, so an old duvet was the solution. Adds a bit of well needed colour to the interior too, even if it makes me look like I'm 40 years older than I am.

Standard radio changing
Solid choice on a Kenwood! I alternate between a Kenwood KDC-BT640 and a cheaper 2006 Alpine unit (which is in my car currently). Planning to fire the Kenwood into another car when the right car for my second one comes around.

Is your stereo OEM?

I wonder if it would be to do with a break in the loom running through the bit in the door even?

AnnoyingPentium's 2006 Fabia 1.2 12v Ambiente-ish
So as you may know, I have a Springer Spaniel who travelled in the boot of the car, but that was effort including taking the dog guard from one car to the other and so on. Instead of this, I started a thread looking for a harness to hook onto the rear seats so my wee "pup" could travel in style. As such, he got my rear seat bases full of hairs and mud. See here: The stains on the seats are from when a mate spilled Cola when I put the foot down coming out of a junction... To combat this, I channelled my inner pensioner, and stole an old tartan duvet/blanket and whacked it over the seat bases like so: To finish, I also added the second of two mascots to my car, a Tesco 'Y2K bug' thing. Both are tucked behind the headrest and the little millennium critter is tucked away nicely using a cable tie to said head restraint. And a piccy of my Furby for good measure... That is all for now, weary readers.

Sounds like a circular saw on startup
Honestly, this might be the best description of a fault I've heard. Sorry I can't be of more help though!
-
Rear door speakers.
Okay, perhaps try process of elimination. See if you can grab a known good set from another Fabia and try them in yours to see if they're working. If not, then you may have a wiring fault.

Rear door speakers.
Check the wiring in the door cards if that helps.

Part Number for Seat Height Adjustment Lever
Hi folks. So me being the clumsy oaf that I am, has broken the height adjustment lever when I was replacing the door speakers (I was sitting in the seat facing to the outside). I had repaired it with lots of epoxy and refitting the brass threads, however, the plastic around them has sheared clean off. So now I'm looking for another one and am hoping someone would be able to provide a part number for this item? Many thanks, Ryan
