  1. It's amazing how good you can make the audio experience in one of these Furbies I've found. The Pioneers I bought are hefty, not expensive either.
  2. Can't quite remember what it is for my Mk1 Fabia. Without sounding like a moron, how does one find out?
  3. This would be fitting for our family car, was once a Mk1.5 Toyota Auris TR 1.6 which could go to Manchester, Blackpool or other places (and scoot about various places down there) and back on a single tank of Tesco's cheapest without any fuss. Our Dacia Duster 1.0 does slightly less than that, but is capable nevertheless of around 450 miles to a tank of fuel. In order for us to be able to effectively travel to places, we'd need quick charging and substantial range of 450+ miles in an ideal world.
  4. That sounds like a good test actually. I can tell you that carrying people and some items in that rough weight figure does affect the MPG in the Fabia severely, if that helps.
  5. Alright, been looking at standard Fabia's on AutoTrader (saved search, I swear I don't have a problem!!) and I think mine is definitely sitting ever so slightly lower than standard at the back. Compared to mine: Maybe it's just my paranoia, but I'm also not one to complain about free lowering, eh?
  6. This is the point I was making, I spent about 3-5 minutes at the petrol station in Girvan, and most of that was paying for the petrol in the car. After that I was good to finish the return leg and go home. I had three passengers, and myself, of course.
  7. Might stick with the petrol Fabia a little longer then. Managed to go from my house to Muirkirk to get a mate, to Dumfries, Castle Douglas, Stranraer, Girvan and then back to the house after dropping my mates off via Ayr and Muirkirk. I refuelled at Girvan as the tank was getting to just below a quarter (the car had some problems that impacted MPG at the time, so was only seeing high 20s/low 30s or there abouts) and didn't want to end up stranded, £45ish to brim it. This is the mileage that was covered since I reset the computer in Bellsbank... Didn't have to wait to get petrol in Girvan either, as the pumps were quiet.
  8. The charging time is a potential issue which also holds me back from going to a 'leccy motor (pushing affordability and other factors to one side for just a moment). I've got a Spaniel and a 10 y/o brother, and they're as hyper as each other. Going on holiday to Portpatrick, to give an example - in a scenario where the car would need charged - is a problem as the dog gets restless, as does my wee brother as they're both pretty impatient and don't travel too good. Certainly, I could leave them at home and go on holiday myself, but I'd rather they weren't in the huff.
  9. I've seen quite a few with these aftermarket electric window conversions, actually. Usually a Sport 1.4 16v too.
  10. I have my ways of finding the reg, I'll come back with it hopefully. Edit: Reg is MA54UYX, you can find it by; 1. getting an insurance quote through Compare the Market via AutoTrader, 2. and then logging into your CTM account and the reg will be sitting there. It's also got a Cat C to it's name and the dealer selling it says it's 1 of 19, but take that with a pinch of salt.
  11. 2004. Came up on my saved AutoTrader search. You can't tell I want a new Fabia, eh? http://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202111089366907?atmobcid=soc3
  12. Welcome to the forums! I hope you get your issues with your cars resolved!
  13. The concept of hydrogen fuel cells in cars fascinates me. Especially that Zafira that GM put together. See here.
  14. Just needed a wee bit of encouragement from you really. It's a good car, even if it's a low spec Comfort (at least it's not a Classic, eh?), but you shouldn't judge a book by its cover, as you have proven.
  15. I'll post you some over. Someone clearly loved it enough to look after it and keep it on the road for as long as they did. The SDI is in the same tax bracket as earlier TDI and the vRS cars here at £155 for the year. I reckon that Fabia will last longer than either of us to be honest. Aye I was reading that when it was around, but I'd like to see if anyone else can replicate similar. You can probably make the wee thing smoke like hell too. I'd be interested to see if there's a mild power increase too!
  16. I live in the brochures of the Mark 1 Fabia, often rearing my head to provide advice. - as a side note, I also seem to have the power to sniff them out, I call it Skodar™ It has been converted to electric windows from manual, which was par for the course for most 1.4 16v with manual windows. The second version of the Sport uses the same 1.2 12v as my Fabia, but came with electric windows. I can't vouch for these engines personally, but I imagine they're decently solid like most, if looked after.
  17. No worries! It just helps further down the line with fault diagnosis. I presume with the 1.4 16v 75 that it's either a Bohemia, Sport, or Automatic, no?
  18. You're living my dream DM! I believe you can buy the loom for the CD changer, but you'll also need to get the magazine for it to use it. If you feel like it of course. These will look great in your Fabia. Let us all know if there's any benefit to the evrymod in terms of power. I've been eyeing up an SDI for running veg oil, being an undergrad student and all that, so I'd like to know of cool things to do with it.
  19. Is it an MPI or a 16v? Both are categorically different cars. Judging by your model year, I'd hazard a guess that you have a 16v (100hp or 75hp flavours, depending on spec etc). Performance modifications aren't cheap on these 1.4 engines, but there is threads on various things you can do for small gains or go down the ABT Tuning route (also a thread, use search to find it) to get the 100hp model up to 130-140bhp, but that's not cheap as the camshafts by Schrick still sell for around £700. I believe @fabdavrav had a custom exhaust on his 1.4 16v Fabia, so he should be able to provide some decent advice in that regard. Hope that helps.
  20. Thank you. I've put the old one in a place so safe that I forget where it is!
  21. Maybe not the slowest, there's always 1.9 64hp SDIs and 1.2 54hp 6v models for you to beat. These wee cars can be quite economical compared to some of the others I've had the pleasure of driving.
  22. Spooky, I was reading through this thread this morning and now it's being mentioned! I should buy a lottery ticket...
  23. I do feel like that MPG figure is rather high for a 1.2 12v. As the most I've gotten is around 50mpg all in, being light on the right foot of course. However, experiences may vary and so on.
