AnnoyingPentium's 2006 Fabia 1.2 12v Ambiente-ish
Thanks! It's been a while since I fitted those chrome covers. I think the accelerator one was the wrong shape, and wouldn't fit over the existing pedal. I keep meaning to do something about it but it gets pushed far back up the priority list 😂

AnnoyingPentium's 2006 Fabia 1.2 12v Ambiente-ish
Back once again, having left the car with my mate to potter about with earlier in the month. Got it back today, and it's miles better feeling now - plus the spec has improved somewhat. New black vRS headliner (which has sagged - will be dyeing the old one now) New rear shocks and Whiteline rear anti roll bar Black carpet from a 9N Polo Rear electric windows and heated front seats (work in progress, due to LIN/CAN incompatibilities formerly, and a dead controller latterly). The windows do work, but only from their respective switches on their doors, not the main one at the driver's door. Seats are getting power, but the little controller on the passenger side doesn't want to play ball. Overall, it's getting closer to being the way I want it to be, slowly. Oh yeah, and I painted the front grille. It's darker in the flesh, and I wasn't keen at first, but it's starting to grow on me now. Now, time to start acquiring parts for the other jobs.

AnnoyingPentium's 2006 Fabia 1.2 12v Ambiente-ish
Done one better re: door cards, Lee. Two years ago I stripped a bronze 51 plate Elegance, which gave up a set of Elegance door cards, and looms for electric rear windows. I bought a set of seats to match as well. Driver's set is a bit knackered but it'll do for now! 😁

AnnoyingPentium's 2006 Fabia 1.2 12v Ambiente-ish
Nearly a month. It's in bits, many many bits. Lots going on here, I'll do a proper write up in time once it is all done, but here's how it's standing at the moment in the care of my mate.

Dash warning lights but no faults
Check strip fuses, and also the earths also. Mine had an electrical strop when the earth connecting to the inner wing wasn't making good contact.

list of issues
I've got this issue, but it's largely down to the plastic just getting brittle from mileage/heat cycles/old age. Hope you get to the bottom of things with this wee car, all the best.

2003 Fabia Comfort 1.2 HTP - OBDII compliant
Same gearing as yours! Desperately needed either an extra gear or a better fifth. You acclimatise eventually...

AnnoyingPentium's 2006 Fabia 1.2 12v Ambiente-ish
And I did just that! It's not a massive difference all things considered, but it's a step in the right direction nevertheless. I've once again been conversing with Pete about soundproofing and we discussed the idea of fitting a diesel undertray which is larger, and comes with a spongy type of soundproofing. The replacement ones online do not, so I'm going to do some research and development (read as trial and error) to see which fabrics would suit it best. That's a post-payday job as I've already ordered enough for this car off this month's payslip!

AnnoyingPentium's 2006 Fabia 1.2 12v Ambiente-ish
S'pose I should update this... Wee bit has happened since my last post here. I've been to Skodafest, where I got my annual catch up with @gav_is_con and got to finally meet @Lofty and see his gorgeous Fabia vRS in the flesh for the first time. Matt's car undoubtedly (and deservedly) being the star of the show here, an absolute power of work has been done on this one. Moving back to the point of this whole project thread is my 1.2. Finally got the wee thing over 100,000 miles, in fact it's closer to 101,000 now. A good day was had, and the drive was actually quite enjoyable. It has reminded me however that I really need to soundproof that car, as the sound of the engine roaring at 3500rpm along a motorway really gets to me after a while! Thankfully, to combat this, I was reminded today that I'd ordered some of the under-bonnet sound deadening, with a part number kindly supplied by @Breezy_Pete. Much to my surprise, the parts for this were readily available and not overly expensive all things considered. I shall be fitting this tomorrow. Besides this, next jobs will be tying up all the loose ends on this car as a project, all the half-started stuff. Two years on I still haven't finished the rear electric windows retrofit, that's priority, before I unveil to you all the other things I've hoarded to fit to this wee thing.

Skodafest 2025 25 May Newport Shropshire
Was great to be able to be there today. Had a lot of fun in the red thing. Great to put names to new faces and catch up with those I've met previously.

Skodafest 2025 25 May Newport Shropshire
One half of the Scottish division is away down today to stay over in advance. Rest of us will be there tomorrow around 11ish we hope.

Will be good to see you again, Gavin! I believe I sent you the photos of your vRS from last year. There was a nice turnout last year, year before (2023) had a few more Felicias and Mk1 Octy vRSseseseseses IIRC.

Skodafest 2025 25 May Newport Shropshire
Just to confirm, I'll be there again. The Scottish contingent has grown somewhat this year, three Mk1 Fabias, one Mk3 Fabia, and a Suzuki Swift that'll be in the non-Skoda bit. I've no Vectra as a backup car now, so I'll be there either in my own or a mate's Fabia...

Pd swapping a petrol
My mate did it with this 1.2 estate, and his dad's saloon. It's a massive job, including lots of wiring and problems that would largely be avoidable with just getting a PD one. A PD 100 Comfort or Elegance for example, will have led an easier life.

WHS. Otherwise, I'm sure there's a thing you can do in VCDS/VAG-COM.

AnnoyingPentium's 2006 Fabia 1.2 12v Ambiente-ish
I think that's the purpose anyway, I'll have to try it at night! I got the glass from a seller on eBay, it's new and apparently OE quality. I'll report back...

AnnoyingPentium's 2006 Fabia 1.2 12v Ambiente-ish
Once again doing things... Blue mirror glass! Been wanting to do this for ages, so finally bit the bullet since mine were delaminating and generally being a nuisance as a result. It's quite the change, I've yet to try them at night though. Need to extend the wires that go to the heating element too, but that's low on the priority list just now. Today (14/04) was a trip to Inverkeithing with my mate to pick up some odds and ends for our Fabias. Somehow I left with a Flamenco Red bumper that was in a much better condition than mine. The car will never be a proper "show" car, but I like it looking well. Is this what the vRS boys mean by a "wide mouth" for the intercooler? All the better with the new bumper on, though. Reg plates coming as well, fresh set to fit.
