  1. Technically didn't fail on the handbrake!
  2. MOT for this one tomorrow. I know it's going to fail (handbrake, exhaust), but it's a matter of whatever else is found. Follow this space, or something.
  3. @Lofty has an extremely tidy one.
  4. Missed 87k on the Fabia, and maybe 32k on the Vectra. However, I want to capture 88,888 on the Fab, and 33,333 on the Vectra.
  5. Yes. It can be coded using VCDS. There are a few threads on here covering it, in case you want to do it yourself. I've got it on mine, and it's a nice feature.
  6. This sounds like a bad earth. I frequently had problems with the earth connecting between the battery and the inner wing on mine, and it'd send the car into a mad frenzy. I ended up adding a second earth to a bolting point down beside the power steering pump reservoir cap.
  7. Set of Mk4 Golf spacers (IIRC Autoleads do them), and a set of 165mm or 170mm speakers.
  8. That's true 35k miles and counting, now on 86k. Hoping to have it near 100k miles by the end of the year! We'll see where it goes from there.
  9. I don't like to talk about what the Fabia has cost me!
  10. Turns out, if you ignore a failing slave cylinder, it'll **** itself. Big time. *Flashback* T'is the night before Christmas, and all through the village not a creature was stirring, except for me, whose Vectra had disgraced itself outside of the workplace, leaving me with no clutch, and having to call for a lift home... Story time aside, I eventually limped this to my trusted garage, who have had it since the day after Boxing Day, and it's still there now. Awaiting an un-lubed financial shafting for the work to be carried out, but I just wish they'd hurry up and I'd have my motor back. Coming in clutch (lol) however, was this little delight, which is back to being my daily again!
  11. Did I last post here in October? Jesus Christ Almighty. Anyhoo, just back in and defrosting from doing the rear wheel bearings. Driver's side one fell apart as we removed it, other side came out fine. One less thing to do regardless. Got the towing eye out too, looks a lot better. Photos to follow.
  12. I've had a few different ones fitted to my Fabia. Honestly, your listening experience will be subject to your own hearing abilities and whatever state your speakers are in. As such, I couldn't definitively state a specific head unit as there are billions out there. However, I've found Alpine to be pretty reasonable. Although I've got tinnitus and one of the units was a cassette player. Make of that what you will.
  13. I don't mind a drink, and it seems my car doesn't either - I'm not partial to brake fluid though... I've just kept topping it up, but 500ml in less than three weeks is a bit startling. Took it to be diagnosed. "Clutch slave cylinder mate, and I'd be doing the clutch while I'm in there too" Well, okay then. HOWEVER, Genuine GM clutch kit incl. slave cylinder? £106.38. You dancer. Parts aren't too bad to get for this, somehow easier than the Skoda! Got a pair of rear shock absorbers from EuroCarParts for £9.19 a side (the originals sound like an accordion falling down a flight of stairs) so that'll be sorted too. Beyond that, it's running well, 31k miles now. Anyone who has me on Facebook will know the welding has been done as well, and to a high standard. Very happy with this car, despite a few "quirks".
  14. 1.4 16v and the 1.2s are all ULEZ compliant as Euro 4, think the 1.4 8v and 2.slow were the same. Brochure is somewhere...
  15. To add to this, I'm happy to go and have a look at something if it's nearer me (and you'd be travelling to pick it up).
  16. Sorry to hear about your accident. Glad to hear you're okay - that's always the most important thing. Won't be too easy getting a decent Fabia vRS second hand like @gav_is_con said. Very dependent on budget and again, what you're after. Good (AKA non-chav spec) ones do pop up from time to time, may have to bide your time though.
  17. Dusty as anything, but it's winter and I'm not cleaning it because I'm already cold. Photo taken by the co-pilot, even if she was nearly sitting on me to get it
  18. Following with interest. I do love a PD.
  19. I think I've got a spare mirror cover somewhere, driver's side, in beige IIRC, but it'd do to keep you mobile. I'll have a look for it and report back, came off an 05 plate car IIRC, but it's all one anyway. Located in Ayrshire but could post up north. Ryan
  20. Glad to hear you're getting back into it as well. Good to see you posting too, hope you're well.
  21. Jesus, has it been that long?! Anyway, returned to swimming since then, then stopped again. Tonight was my first night back, and I've signed up for the monthly pass. I've decided to go on Monday evenings and a Wednesday morning/evening (dependent on working hours). They offer a lot of different time slots, thankfully. Missed the swimming, so it's nice to be getting back in the way of it.
  22. I've had my BME coded Fabia exhibit these symptoms with both a duff throttle pedal (electronic, it's one unit) and a failing MAP sensor (there's no MAF on these). It's all parts darts really. What "diagnostic tool" did you use? Ideally this wants checked with VAG-COM/VCDS.
