  1. Thanks once again. For anyone else: can't get the bonnet stay or the acoustic pad off eBay at the moment, but the clips can be had in packs of ten using @TMB's link.
  2. Thanks, Lee. Going to have the car in tons of bits over the Summer anyway for a deep clean since it's absolutely filthy inside, so I'll start sticking insulation in those bits.
  3. Aye I had thought about the boot area. Under the bonnet would be my other choice too.
  4. Looking for recommendations of where to buy soundproofing and also where to fit it. 3500rpm at 70mph appeals to no man after three hours at the wheel of a Fabia with knackered seats. Muchos Gracias folks.
  5. Do we have a stash of bakelite compasses?
  6. This wouldn't be West End Skoda in Broxburn, by any chance? It's the only defunct Skoda dealer I can think of in Scotland. Only asking as that's where my car originally came from.
  7. I like it, but don't know how I feel about the unicorn horn 3.5mm jack plug sticking out there.
  8. Fed up of having to update your car's navigation unit, or run out of signal? Behold, the solution to all your problems... A Bakelite compass and a dod of blue-tack.
  9. @DieselMonte is yer man.
  10. Probably not much demand for one of these ancient things (also up on eBay and Autos***e) but if you want it you're welcome to buy it. If you do buy it, then you'll also stop me from doing myself an injury when I fall over it... again. £20 as advertised. Comes with the remote control (2xAAAs included) and power cable. Collection only as I can't carry it for long enough to post it, I can deliver to you if you're within 50 miles of KA6 as long as you cover my petrol money (will be based on distance, around 75p per mile). Feel free to sort out your own courier though.
  11. Measure the sizes of the new and old centre caps. If they're the same size they should fit.
  12. Ah I see, that'll be a **** up on my part. I've not got the budget for ASR, that's reserved for your "posh" Fabia owners.
  13. The car doesn't have ASR, that was an option IIRC. The road surface itself has that anti-slip/skid stuff on it. Just got some blank dash switches. Basically, if you're coming out of Ayr past Arnold Clark Toyota and Peugeot then if you're not on this anti-skid stuff then you're not getting through the lights as they change very quickly.
  14. I had been trying to walk past them to get back to the car to go down the farm road and they kept running on till they were nearly back in the village, Lee. I eventually had to try and sprint past the wee sods so that they'd run the other way.
  15. I don't want to speak too soon as we always know what happens when I do speak too soon. However..., Changed ye olde spark plugs on the car. They were NGKs and looked as though they'd been done before. So I can sleep better knowing the previous owners weren't mechanical sadists, just had complete disregard for the bodywork of the damned thing. Anyway, I digress. Also taped up the frayed wires of the pre-cat lambda. It was one of those things that I looked at and said audibly 'ach it'll be fine'... naw, Ryan, naw it willnae be fine at aw. It's a small fortune (at least to me) to replace it, so I've taped it up with Poundland's "finest" "insulating" "adhesive" tape, as can be seen in my 'Intermittent Witchcraft' thread of confused screaming. I still think it's a bit gutless compared to normal and it's still clinging onto the revs below 2k. Howandever, it doesn't become an inconvenience when caught at the lights at the Whitletts Roundabout where there's a hill start with anti-slip that is the deciding factor as to whether you'll get through the lights or not, and trying to accelerate with a switched off engine is quite a task, you know. Also, it's story time on how my Fabia has now done more "off-roading" than most people with crossovers have. Some lambs had escaped from a field along a farm road I was walking down, and the farmer (who I know) is based down the even smaller road in the first photograph... It gets very bumpy further on but the car handled it great. Here it is afterwards as well, t'is a wee champ.
  16. I had a sidelight that did this on my Mk1, was a dodgy connection inside the bulb itself I reckon. Check the connector is alright, and maybe just change the bulb.
  17. Pre-cat lambda had pretty FUBAR-ed wiring. I've taped it up for now. Car has stopped cutting out, although it's only been like this for a few days now, but it just seems better.
  18. Put a wee bit in. Hope it helps you get back on your feet.
  19. This needs a project thread of it's own in the 'Non-Skoda Projects' section.
  20. That thing makes an Austin Allegro look pretty.
  21. I wouldn't go for one like that. I'd either get the top trim piece made by Skoda, if you can still get it. Otherwise, Halfords sell one which I have and it seems alright to me. It looks like this, but the other way up:
  22. There needs to be an emoticon for "holy ****ing ****"
