  1. 'A lock only keeps an honest man oot.'
  2. There's a 'mibbie' there as I'm somewhat sceptical that it'll make a difference. The fault happened not long after the MOT, or when that fuel filter was replaced since the old one was leaking. If that's of any use.
  3. Fuel filter is new courtesy of my garage, but might be ****ed, as they say. Will mibbie replace it again.
  4. Drifting away from the original intention... I just use one of those Wi-Fi extenders with an ethernet cable plugged into the PC running from the extender. Would save putting cabling in, IMO.
  5. I'll have a wee look at some point over the next few days. Thank you.
  6. Local parts firm. Run by Alliance Automotive. They're like ECP but actually good at what they do. I'd appreciate that. Thanks, Pete. Where abouts is the crank sensor located anyway, I can give my local independent a ring and see if he'll fit it if it's a pig of a job.
  7. @Pete_Ex-Wino following on from today's incident, as covered on the 'annoyed' thread... I tried TMS for a relay. No such luck. At the moment I'm waiting for the car to cool down so I can poke about with vacuum hoses etc. Also had no luck with getting VCDS-Lite to work. Tempted to consult the owners map and get a hold of someone local to do some checking/diagnostics. That Garage Pro app I was using has brought back the "pending" P0171 code as well but I've had no EML/EPC light... besides in a dream last night. The throttle pedal position sensor was from another BME that was being broken for parts. The throttle body is the original (or at least the same as when I got the car) but was cleaned some time ago (as seen in the ongoing project thread).
  8. There's not much left. Wasn't quite an advisory for the MOT but could be next year, at least from visual inspection.
  9. My 2006 Fabia was on original discs (from what I could tell) at 53k. That's when I changed them though. Put Eicher on and am due having to change them again!
  10. Have an Eveready 6v 6r45 one for a twincharger? 😝
  11. Squeaky clean. I have also had a little more lacquer peel appear on the mirror that didn't get repaired. I might give Sharpie a ring and see if he'd be willing to do the driver's side mirror, but I'll wait till its worse I reckon, to get my moneys worth. Still got the weird cutting out but haven't prodded about yet. I've just not had the time.
  12. Thank you. That seems to be the plan so far.
  13. No the Polo and Fabia use different wings. I think Euro Car Parts sell a wing for the car that'll need painted. Otherwise, breakers yards are your best bet. Hatboyharvey on YouTube has a video on removing the wing. Hope this helps.
  14. I'd like that. I'll PM you my email later on today.
  15. I'll have a wee shot of the car boot sale in Ayr next weekend. I've usually had some decent results. There's also a couple of sellers I've used online before, so the plan is to get some matching sets from one of those. I'm also a member of the Vogons computer forums although I haven't used much of that membership yet. Currently the 486 is laid up while I sort out my later Windows 98 system so I can run some legacy applications that a VM won't work with.
  16. Aye, formerly @BossFox's SE, no?
  17. Primary teacher I had sent a lad in my class to go and get a tin of paint from the janitor. Another cracker is a 'long stand' or a bucket of compressed air.
  18. Might have a shot of this myself.
  19. Edit - this is one by my wee brother when I sent him outside with the Sony Mavica because he said he was bored.
  20. He'd have a 1.8T for a heart.
  21. I'm selling my old taillights from my hatchback Fabia. Both are dated 2006 and came from my car as the originals. They are the later style facelift ones (pictures to follow) and are £15 each or £25 for the pair. £6.95 postage. Both are in good condition but one is without a bulb holder (which can be had online). These will fit any hatchback 99-07 Skoda Fabia Mk1.
  22. With it being a Vauxhall chances are he wouldn't have had to do much to coax it into spontaneously combusting.
  23. My Grampa bought a whole string of CDTI 2.0 Insignias, never such engine issues funnily enough, but he doesn't have a car long enough or do the mileage for anything to arise really, he's on a 'new shape' 69-reg one, mostly for towing. The first (a '59' reg) 2.0 CTDI didn't make it past his ownership from what we can tell though. My psycho neighbour (long story) also had one that died right outside our driveway, her and her fella have a petrol one now. I wouldn't buy an Insignia even if you paid me. My Grampa's 59-reg and 63-reg ones were plagued with software issues. I've seen more stable versions of Windows Millennium by Christ.
