Diesel Monte's 2001 Skoda Fabia "Project vRSDI"
Sorry to hear about the bolt. Sounds like a hell of a job. You've also bet me to doing the console bushes.

Replace the condenser on the fabia mk3 to fix the aircon, or leave it be?
Having gone from having air con, to going without, to having it again. I can confirm it makes a world of difference, especially for demisting your windows.

locking wheel nut "nut"
Yes I know. I do possess locking wheel nuts on my Fabia for that reason, but I live near Ayr, so no surprises why.

AnnoyingPentium's Return Dive into Swimming... and other 'elf stuff
Last week at the swimming was a bit more challenging due to how busy the pool was, but managed 35 lengths. Didn't get going this week as I threw my back out at the weekend there.

Intermittent Cutting Out and Other Electrical Witchcraft
There's a 'mibbie' there as I'm somewhat sceptical that it'll make a difference. The fault happened not long after the MOT, or when that fuel filter was replaced since the old one was leaking. If that's of any use.

Intermittent Cutting Out and Other Electrical Witchcraft
Fuel filter is new courtesy of my garage, but might be ****ed, as they say. Will mibbie replace it again.

Ethernet Home Wiring
Drifting away from the original intention... I just use one of those Wi-Fi extenders with an ethernet cable plugged into the PC running from the extender. Would save putting cabling in, IMO.

Intermittent Cutting Out and Other Electrical Witchcraft
I'll have a wee look at some point over the next few days. Thank you.

Intermittent Cutting Out and Other Electrical Witchcraft
Local parts firm. Run by Alliance Automotive. They're like ECP but actually good at what they do. I'd appreciate that. Thanks, Pete. Where abouts is the crank sensor located anyway, I can give my local independent a ring and see if he'll fit it if it's a pig of a job.

Intermittent Cutting Out and Other Electrical Witchcraft
@Pete_Ex-Wino following on from today's incident, as covered on the 'annoyed' thread... I tried TMS for a relay. No such luck. At the moment I'm waiting for the car to cool down so I can poke about with vacuum hoses etc. Also had no luck with getting VCDS-Lite to work. Tempted to consult the owners map and get a hold of someone local to do some checking/diagnostics. That Garage Pro app I was using has brought back the "pending" P0171 code as well but I've had no EML/EPC light... besides in a dream last night. The throttle pedal position sensor was from another BME that was being broken for parts. The throttle body is the original (or at least the same as when I got the car) but was cleaned some time ago (as seen in the ongoing project thread).

Changing battery in Fabia 6Y 1.4MPI (50KW) - could someone double check whether I am about to make a mistake?
Well that's not ominous at all...

Rear brake discs - typical lifespan?
There's not much left. Wasn't quite an advisory for the MOT but could be next year, at least from visual inspection.

Rear brake discs - typical lifespan?
My 2006 Fabia was on original discs (from what I could tell) at 53k. That's when I changed them though. Put Eicher on and am due having to change them again!

Have an Eveready 6v 6r45 one for a twincharger? 😝

AnnoyingPentium's 2006 Fabia 1.2 12v Ambiente-ish
Squeaky clean. I have also had a little more lacquer peel appear on the mirror that didn't get repaired. I might give Sharpie a ring and see if he'd be willing to do the driver's side mirror, but I'll wait till its worse I reckon, to get my moneys worth. Still got the weird cutting out but haven't prodded about yet. I've just not had the time.

RAM for a 486
Thank you. That seems to be the plan so far.

parking problems
No the Polo and Fabia use different wings. I think Euro Car Parts sell a wing for the car that'll need painted. Otherwise, breakers yards are your best bet. Hatboyharvey on YouTube has a video on removing the wing. Hope this helps.

RAM for a 486
I'd like that. I'll PM you my email later on today.

RAM for a 486
I'll have a wee shot of the car boot sale in Ayr next weekend. I've usually had some decent results. There's also a couple of sellers I've used online before, so the plan is to get some matching sets from one of those. I'm also a member of the Vogons computer forums although I haven't used much of that membership yet. Currently the 486 is laid up while I sort out my later Windows 98 system so I can run some legacy applications that a VM won't work with.

Could be one for the life hacks thread in Off Topic.

Run the ABS pump in Fabia vRS
Primary teacher I had sent a lad in my class to go and get a tin of paint from the janitor. Another cracker is a 'long stand' or a bucket of compressed air.
