  1. Ordered and received a code from a seller on eBay. Will try it once the unit arrives.
  2. I do, but this wee 202 is just for messing about with really as I know it won't work with the changer. I'd like an MS502 for factory completeness as I love the Sony stereo I have but it won't stay in the dash like the factory one sadly.
  3. Thanks Nige. Will try one of the ebay folk then, once the unit has arrived of course.
  4. Good morning/afternoon (depends when I finish writing this) from baltic Greenock... Anyway, I've procured a Skoda MS202 head unit to mess about with but it's got nae code. How exactly do I get it? Are these ebay folk advertising code retrieval to be trusted? Ta.
  5. I wanted to do the seat centres in something like the Golf GTI interior, but I have sewing skills comparable to the darts skills of Stevie Wonder.
  6. Sounds good, £50 if you do mine.
  7. The car your seats came from will have spotted fabric IIRC. If that floats yer boat.
  8. Wee couple of things done on the car whilst I await a lambda sensor... First things first, the alloy I replaced with another one came with a tyre on it, which unfortunately had a fair gash in the sidewall it turns out. So that's off and replaced with the spare from the boot. I'll have to get the tyre swapped between the FUBAR-ed alloy and the "better" one so that I'm not on the steelie for another eternity. Secondly, I missed having AM radio in my car so that I could listen to a local station which doesn't broadcast on FM. So after being scalped by Halfords, I have an antenna amp thing for the car. Fitting this required having the stereo out, which then wouldn't stay in the dash. This was fixed today. Wiring for the antenna amp was done using the blue wire on the ISO loom and the wire from the amp and a crimp. Now works like a wee champ. Today was also when the fitting of a part I ordered was done... I finally managed to source a DIN drawer from an Elegance. Job's a good 'un.
  9. 'NO CAR REPAIRS' Rebellious are we, Stewart?
  10. Looks very stealthy. I must know does it... GLF?
  11. Telly selt to a delightful gent this evening.
  12. In a pretty decent colour too. Not got much on Lemon Yellow tho...
  13. I second this. I often see delivery drivers in Toyota Yarises, and some locally in Almeras.
  14. Same issue with my Mk1. I don't expect sheer luxury and I'm a bit corned beef (deaf) anyway so it must be bad if I can hear things.

  16. Good evening, and a warm welcome from jist ootside of Ayr.
  17. Always serviced and looked after. The exhaust is quite throaty for a "standard"-spec replacement that was fitted before I bought the car. The other two cars in the "fleet" are two fairly clattery Dacias. This car is quieter (less wind noise but more engine noise), but it could be quieter. As outlined above, cutting engine noise is my main priority. I can live with the creaking and clunking over bumps (I will fix that someday) but the engine noise is my biggest peeve with this car because of the short gearing in 5th (3000rpm @ 60mph).
  18. Yep, I went from Toldeos on the front and some no-name ditchfinders on the rear which made an awful din. In comparison my Matador tyres are whisper quiet. The biggest issue I've got is engine noise on long journeys.
  19. I canny blame you. I don't want to be doing mine either... Plan is to just leave it with the mechanic and say "fix this" and run away.
  20. This'll be the most immaculate Mk1 one (besides @Lofty's one of course) by the time you're done! As an aside, do you fancy doing my bushes?
