  1. Oh those look sweeeeeet!!
  2. I tend not to leave my Spaniel in the car since he'll bark at folk passing by. Only time he's ever in the car is when we're going somewhere for a walk or the vets. I know about how he steams up the car though, my German Shepherd used to do it, but he also used to lick the windows too...
  3. Hello and welcome to Briskoda. Hope you enjoy your vRS when it arrives!
  4. Gutted to hear you've had bother with your Octavia. Your best shot is putting a post in the Octavia MkIII section for further help. Welcome to the forums, however.
  5. Nae chance, as they say. I haven't got the bravery for that yin.
  6. Now where have VAG given false numbers before... hmmmm?
  7. Heading explains more than some nonsense waffle in this "body" section could ever do. As of tonight, I have taken up swimming again. I've always been a keen swimmer since learning to swim at the Irvine Magnum (Ayrshire folks here will be having mega flashbacks) and then the pool in Dalmellington further on. I'm a fairly competent swimmer, and without boasting too much, I received a 5+++++ metre certificate in primary school since they were set certificates that had been photostat many, many times. I'm rather casual about my swimming, none of that competitive lark. So anyway, I anticipate to log my swimming malarkey in here - should I remember.
  8. Not far off 58k now. Will miss it since I'll go past it on my journey back from the swimming pool.
  9. Canon EOS 400D is good, albeit a tad old now.
  10. Howdy and welcome Jonathon. Glad to hear you're enjoying the Octavia.
  11. I received a wee thing from Home Bargains as a gift from a relative when I bought the car. It does the job nicely and hides in the spare wheel well. It's just a little black tyre inflator, it probably has a brand on it but I can't remember what.
  12. Thank you for clarifying. This leads me to think about breaks in circuits, from my electronics "hobby" standpoint. Have you got a spare switch you could use to test the rest of the circuit?
  13. Agreed. It was originally listed for 2 grand when I first encountered it on my trawls through the bottom of the barrel of AutoTrader. I couldn't help but laugh at the listing.
  14. I haven't had to use the fuses... yet. I mustn't shout that though, because it could be listening. I used the 50p to cover a little bit of the £132.50 bill for a wheel bearing replacement though.
  15. I got a 50p piece in the stereo cubby, a copy of the Who's 'Greatest Hits' from the Symphony unit which I kept for myself, and a set of fuses in the "secret" driver's cubby.
  16. There is (or was) a 200k one on AutoTrader. A Mk1, however. https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202110238808765
  17. It has either been given away to a relative or it's in the back of my CD drawer. Either way, it shan't foul my CD changer!
  18. I love a good freebie, especially when buying a head unit for a car and it comes with a free cassette (a good blank, that I reused). Or the Showaddywaddy CD we pulled out from the centre console of my Granda's new car, a 2014 Dacia Sandero - certainly I don't like Showaddywaddy, but it was free.
  19. Very good, at least over the OEM spec candles. My Granda had the same issue with a Mk1 Fiat Punto, so I've got a set of unused spare orange bulbs from him that are in excellent condition to fire in the car when weather and time allows.
  20. I had considered Osrams, Lee. However I was getting a better deal on a pair of Philips +130s from Amazon for my dipped beams, I had them on whilst I had the old units too. My high/main beams are just a set of Osram OEM spec bulbs and do the job nicely. I also swapped in a set of Halfrauds 501 "whiter" sidelight bulbs since I had one that was only working if knocked or jolted (cleaned connectors etc to rule out bad connections) and that's all my local branch had in stock, so those went in today. My next move is a set of indicator bulbs as my current ones are shedding their orange tint quite badly. I have a pair ready to go on whenever I have the time, since the current ones are still legal... at least for now.
  21. I've still got another 3 1/2 years of my English Literature course yet. So, as long as my Fabia limps along for that time then I'll be pleased. I may choose to swap it at some point before then for another Fabia (since I quite like them) depending on how things go for me and the current car, of course. The vRS is overvalued by most sellers IMO. For less money and more gadgets, a Fabia Elegance is a good choice IMO, especially with the PD100. Whatever you buy, make sure it's been looked after right, correct oil spec etc. Others may disagree with my opinion on the vRS vs Elegance debate, however.
  22. I grew up around Cav's and some Vectra B's. All pretty decent cars. Haven't got a photograph of the red Cav 1.8 on this computer but I have one of my Grandad's Vectra B. Now anyway, I'll crawl back from the whole whence I came as not to derail this thread further.
  23. I must have missed that, thank you for pointing that out though, as I wouldn't have noticed otherwise. However, you will also see that I have also suggested a faulty lighting switch, such as a component level failure which may be the cause of the OP's problem. I merely explained how the switch worked to @nta16as he wasn't sure.
  24. Had a bit of a dicky sidelight bulb on the passenger side that required a door to be slammed shut in order for it to turn on. Since I had fitted new headlights, it was time for a trip to Hellfrauds to get a set of bulbs this afternoon. Set me back just under £6 for these "whiter" ones, but I don't grudge it much. Topped up the coolant too since it was beginning to drop below the minimum. Have a quick comparison, with the right-hand side of this photo being the "before". And with both bulbs in... Finally, I got a snap once it had gotten a tad darker... they're more of a bright white and less of the purple that the camera has captured. Apologies for the mildly blurry photo, my hands are rather shaky. Next job is fit the replacement indicator bulbs I have spare since my original bulbs are shedding their orange film like a snake sheds it's skin.
