  1. My cars a bit like a blancmange over bumps...possibly due to the age of various components.
  2. Went out this afternoon to run a few errands and when I got into the car, started the engine, pressed the clutch and went to select reverse, it didn't go, it felt like it was hitting a brick wall as it does when it presents this fault. I took my foot off the clutch and went to grab a video of my attempting to put the car in reverse and... it was fine. 20220103_141404.mp4
  3. I was behind a Corsa doing 5mph over speedbumps in a 30, meanwhile I can get over them at 30 comfortably.
  4. Thanks, Colin! Those wee trees aren't even too far away from me so I might go a nosey someday.
  5. One could say that's a "simply clever" idea, Colin.
  6. Hello and welcome to Briskoda. Enjoy the site and your Octavia.
  7. These bumpers here are for post and pre-facelift and are interchangeable, but use different fog light units. So yes, they fit the same car but if you have fog lights you may need to change the little housings so I'd recommend sticking to one like the original bumper. Hope this helps.
  8. Was like that without the floor mat during the brief time period that that my old drivers one warped itself.
  9. Right. Here's what I'm going to do, in their respective order: 1. Wait until I won't catch hypothermia doing any job to the car. 2. I shall adjust the linkages. 3. If that doesn't work, I'll leave it because it does go into reverse if put into first or revved in neutral. 4. That is all. So, I'll report back with my results once it's less chilly baltic outside.
  10. Of course. Waiting until the warmer weather, however.
  11. Car turned 15 in November, sitting at 58k miles (almost). It was on original discs on the front when I got it so I wouldn't be surprised if it was the original oil.
  12. Thanks DM, it's not a constant issue, just there now and again. I'll adjust the linkages first and work from there.
  13. Sometimes. It's an intermittent fault across the board and doesn't happen too often.
  14. Good shout as well. It seems like a synchro issue of some sort because I can knock it into neutral, rev it, and then drop it into reverse quite the thing. So you could be onto something there.
  15. Hello and welcome to Briskoda. That Felicia Fun looks like an interesting restoration.
  16. Thanks Dan, will give you guys a shout when the time comes for renewal.
  17. It's currently cheaper. It'll be a PD100 Elegance in an ideal world, probably an estate so not quite a vRS, just more unassuming.
  18. Build up some NCD for a couple of years as I squirrel money away, I fancy another Mk1 Fab but a PD this time.
  19. I was eyeing up Renault Clio's and a dark blue Fabia before settling on the one I have. This car is my first car and I was meant to get a Fiat Punto (my Grandad's old car) but it all went horribly, horribly wrong for the Fiat at its MOT. I've had my little Furby since March last year (feels weird saying that now) and it's not a PD, it's a 1.2 12v petrol.
  20. Definitely, comes up great in the right light. 2006, like your Octavia. It was 10 days off of being a 2007 56 plate however.
  21. Greetings and happy new year, John. Hope you enjoy the forums. I imagine your Octavia is Flamenco Red like my Fabia too since it's a burgundy red.
  22. Hello and welcome back, Sam.
  23. Sent away for it now, thanks for your help. It claims to be here on Tuesday.
  24. I have the fascia adapter too. I wired it all in and was quite chuffed with myself except that it sat a bit loose. Took the car out and gave it a wee bit of welly... and the stereo jumped out.
