New (non dimming) mirror glass installed this evening. It doesn’t have the clip for the dimming wiring plug so I had to tuck it away. Initially it fouled the swivel movement so had to very carefully take the glass off again and tuck it away a bit neater. I also received the third attempt at buying a steering wheel with DSG. This time it was listed as for a karoq with part number 3V0419091AB. It is completely identical to my current wheel but with the addition of DSG paddles. No idea what makes it different from 3V0419091S and 3V0419091M as they look the same too. But those ones are listed as for a superb and tend to be significantly more expensive. It came with the usual wreckers grime but 5 minutes with some autoglym leather cleaner and a damp cloth and it looks good as new. Silky smooth with a nice matt finish. What was described as a scuff on the wheel in the eBay listing turned out to be grime so that was a bonus. The vehicle it came from had only done 38,000 miles so I’ve ended up with a steering wheel significantly newer and in better condition than my old one too! The addition of some alloy DSG extension paddles completes the look. (Thanks again @JR RS for the link!) Will I use them? Probably not. Do I love them? Most definitely.

The punt on a karoq wheel paid off. 3V0419091AB is identical to my standard 3V0419091L but with the addition of paddles. All installed and working with no issues. I guess most MQB wheels of the same general age/generation are interchangeable.

If it’s got warranty and the warranty covers it the it’s 100% back to the dealer job.

Yes will replace with cheap For now and keep An eye out for a cheaper one. Was considering adding bsd but will probably add the one in the mirror cap.

Have you run a check for fault codes?

The trouble with wreckers now is they all see the prices achieved on eBay so there’s no bargains anymore. Getting there finally. Got a few more fix up jobs and cosmetic thing to do. Then I’m deleting AliExpress app!

AliExpress delivery day today for a few more upgrades. First off - battery clamp that I found was missing. Although the glass takes quite a bit of force to remove. As @JR RS found, the Chinese copies have the middle fixing tab in the wrong place. But secure well using the two side catches. Unfortunately the passenger side didn’t go so well…. I was shocked at the price of the auto dimming glass. £300+! Is it on auto? Does it do it if in manual with a certain vent selected?

The one I have ordered to try is listed for a karoq and part number 3V0419091AB. Without airbag so hoping mine will fit! But buttons and everything looks to be the same as my existing wheel just with dsg paddles added. It’s on free 30 day return so if it doesn’t work I can send it back. The 3V0419091M that I ordered had the order cancelled as they couldn’t find it in their stock apparently.

I think I’ll take a punt on it. 3v0 part number tends to denote superb alike. Looks the same. Seems to have the same buttons. And a lot of wheels are listed for all mqb ŠKODA models.

Does anyone know if a ŠKODA karoq wheel fits a superb 3? It looks identical from the pictures. I would be looking to reuse my airbag from pre-facelift round wheel. https://ebay.us/m/XfqGFE

I ordered a set of these from AliExpress but now having second thoughts RE insurance not liking them. Has anyone else had any issue?

It’s a wet belt in that it runs inside the oil but not the same issue as the ford eco boost engineers etc. no history of failure supposedly.

I used led bulbs from eBay/ Ali express for headlights and fog lights and they are brilliant so far. Links in my thread.

Have a look at this guide. These wheels seem to be slightly more available. Not sure if there’s a heated option. And you will need airbag as well as wheel I think.

Yup. All the wrong ones are ten a penny. You can fit the newer 2 spoke style if you match the components (view, heated etc) if you already have newer airbag. You then just need a lin adaptor to convert the signals. I think they are relatively cheap. If you find a wheel you like then @Cairus is the man to advise on connections to make it work
