Locking Wheel Nut?
This issue, although it seems simple, is quite complicated. Originally the idea was that putting the new tyres on the rear was that, in an emergency situation the car would not oversteer, and begin to rotate, potentially hitting an obstruction rear first. The car would tend to carry on forwards giving some chance of control. Unfortunately putting new tyres on the rear does not necessarily mean this will happen. If you have part-worn premium tyres on the front and new worst tyres on the market on the rear you may well have more grip at the front and the car may spin. It would be better to say that the best performing tyres should be on the rear, and who is able to say which have the best grip. Some people think that it is more important to have the best grip at the front to give optimum braking and steering performance. As I've had two cars written of when cars pulled out in front of me or inexplicably stopped in my path, I would rather have best braking. Even though in both cases I was on premium tyres these didn't save me they may have reduced my speed more than a cheaper tyre. I was watching a tyre comparison video the other day and I was shocked by how much worse the wet braking was on the cheapest tyres in comparison to the premiums. It was the thing two or three years ago to have new tyres on the rear, and there was a lot of debate on forums. It doesn't seem to be so common now, and the people who fit my tyres are not recommending new on the rear now. It appears to be your choice.

DPF regeneration frequency
Just to satisfy my curiosity, how are you aware that a regeneration is in progress? On one of my previous cars I could tell because the fuel consupmtion went up considerably and performance felt different, and on another I couldn't tell at all. There were owners who fitted diodes near the mirrors to monitor when the mirror heating was on, as the cars switched on electical accessories to increase alternator and engine load.

72 plate Fabia fuel gauge issues ?
Had a diesel Superb as a loan car. As I didn't know how long I would have it for (turned out to be 7 days) I put in 4 small top-ups, min 5L, max 8 L. Only two of these top-ups caused the gauge to register.

A hypothetical question.
My wife accidently pulled the brake on one of our cars at ~50mph when I asked her to get something out of the glove box. A lot of noise, but easily controlled. As its, I beleive, an electrically activated cable brake I doubt that the abs could moderate it. In respose to Karock's comment above, automatic brakes would not help initially if the driver had been incapacitated, but may if that incapacitation was leading to a collision.

Android Auto not working
Not only does the car need to be compatible, but the phone needs to be as well. Check on the internet to see if your phone supports wireless.

Software Update...?
Some cars have an economy mode which protects the battery from going flat. On Citroens this cuts in after about 30 minutes and shuts down all of the unnecessary electrical functions. If this happens during an update it is possible/likely that this will interupt an update and completely screw up the system. So on a Citroen it is not the battery going flat that causes the issue and a charger would be no use. I don't know whether Skoda have anything similar, as I've never sat in my car with the radio on long enough to find out, but I wouldn't risk it. My car has decided to update itself a couple of times, and apart from the difficulty of getting the update to actually work, it hasn't taken a long time. Also if one of these semiautomatic updates is interrupted they restart when the car is started again.

Unexpected recall.
I have reported what is written in my book. I may have to call and find out whether it is correct. But it is probably irrelevant for me as I can't remember the last time I've had to tighten a wheelnut. And if you needed to on the road, who carries a torque wrench in the car?
-
Unexpected recall.
Definitely been changed to 120Nm.

Unexpected recall.
The car has been in for a week with an SOS warning. It wasn't software as that was the latest version, not the OCU, and eventually diagnosed as an aerial. This has been replaced, so we'll se how it goes. The issue that caused the recall, beleive it or not, is a simple misprint on page 180. The original text gives the torque for the wheelnuts as 20Nm, and has had to be corrected to 120Nm. A small typo, but the error could cause a major incident, so I understand why Skoda have made the recall.

Rear view mirror usb port
It was a cheap option on my Karoq. I should have ordered it but I didn't.

Torn between skoda kamiq monte carlo and sel executive
I can manage without them, as I drive vintage PSVs. But they do make it much easier!

Torn between skoda kamiq monte carlo and sel executive
I would always go with a rear camera now, if available. I have one in both cars, one being our Karoq. It is in at present for an SOS system fault (diagnosed as a faulty aerial, so we have had a 22 reg Superb for several days. I'm quite surprised by the lack of equipment, one thing lacking is a rear camera, I didn't realise how much I rely on them until you drive a car without one.

"Your 5 Star Experience" - Hardly!
I had a 4 year old (non VAG) car MOTd this week. At 40,000 miles no issues on the brakes, 30% worn, but lipped and pitted discs. The front tyres are just over a year old but the rears are original. No issue on wear on either but the rears are 'age cracked'. I've given them a cursory inspection. Can see any issues at all. So I'll continue to make my own judgement.

Unexpected recall.
The car is in today. They want it until Monday, unless the update goes more quickly than they anticipate. I have a diesel DSG Superb loan car. The recall is someting to do with making an alteration in the manual, and confirming that it is done with Skoda. I'll post the change when I get the car back.

Unexpected recall.
I am aware that the updates may take a long time to download. I have a loan car booked for the day, and they are supposedly holding the car free for Monday, just in case.

Unexpected recall.
My car is in tomorrow for a software update after having the SOS fault. A reminder came through and amongst other things, there is a recall to deal with. Anyone got any idea what this could be?

Silica bag in header tank potential problem
I really don't understand this. Silica gel is used to remove moisture, so what on earth silica gel is supposed to do in a header tank full of water, I just don't understand.

Android Auto not working
If using a usb cable try disconnecting and reconnecting the cable. Then try another good quality cable. It could also be a faulty usb socket.

Daytime Running Lights with rear lights
'As above the only issue with this is by turning the sidelights on the DRL's then dim down to approx 50% brightness.' This isn't necessarily true. When this first came to my attention I tried my Karoq (Edition with LED lights) and the DRLKs do not dim when switching to sidelights. You do get the rear lights on, but unfortunately you have lost the auto function. The way DRLs and sidelights work differ with cars from the same manufacturer. One car I had, the DRLs dimmed as sidelights, and on our other car the DRLs go out and a separate pair of sidelights come on. In this case the rear lights are actually on with DRLs so the rears are on all the time.

Looking at moving from Superb to Kodiaq, after some feedback.
I had a C4 Picasso 6 years. It had massage seats as standard. I tried it out when it was new, but never used it again.

Extended warranty for Karoq
I have extended warranty to 5 years which I paid for when I bought the car. I am unaware of any need to have the car inspected at the end of the original three years. I have a PSA car. You can take out an extended warranty after 3 years, and every year until the mileage reaches 100,000 miles. But you must take out the extended warranty BEFORE the previous warranty expires. Jut be careful.

Karoq cam belt change - start saving now !
It is the consequence of failure that is the issue. Generally a failed wheel bearing will cause a little noise and possibly vibration and is easily fixed, but a failed cambelt is pretty likely to be catastrophic for the engine, which isn't easily ixed and will cost a fortune.

Problem with selecting Driving Modes, other than Normal.
I wonder why coasting is supposed to be more economical. If the engine is turning with a gear engaged it uses no fuel, as fuel is cut off. If the revs fall to idle at any speed, fuel is required to keep the engine running. Surely it can only save fuel if the clutches are disengaged and the engine stops.

Karoq space saver 2022
Quite true. I was in a bit of a rush as I am on an online course. Of course it is three times if you wish to swap wheels front to back ad vice versa.

If there was one thing I would change about my Kamiq…
Not a Kamiq but a Karoq gripe. I wish the satnav voice wouldn't say 'please' every time it says anything. It is far too gratingly polite. A contrast to when it says 'Please make a U-turn NOW'
