2.0 TSI Engine Covers.
There is a bit of chatter on VW and SEAT forums that seam to suggest the replacement cover is now a thing with part number 06Q-103-925-L. No idea if that's accurate however.

Amundsen Plus and Android Auto
I know the brochure says Android Auto is wired only with Amundsen, however I've be very grateful if anyone could please confirm/deny that's actually the case with the Amundsen Plus? Thank you.

Glow Plug flashing and Start/stop system failure
Wow. Lucky you I imagine.

Approaching 3 years of ownership, the good the bad and the ugly!
For scoring that bad I imagine it'd either have to be pads down to the metal exposing rivets to the discs or stones embedded in the pads. Whatever's caused it, it's pretty spectacular.

Anyone else ordered a new Kodiaq?
I kept them on until about the 2nd time I washed the wheels...

Setting seat position.
From memory, if it's the sort with a "set" button towards the front followed by 3 memory buttons; hold the set button for a few seconds, release the set button than press one of the memory buttons. Vehicle sounds a bong to acknowedlge the setting stored.

Has anyone recently taken delivery of a factory order 1.5TSI DSG?
Certainly not the ticking timebomb I'm looking for under my bonnet! 🤪

Has anyone recently taken delivery of a factory order 1.5TSI DSG?
I know we're way off topic however here is a nice picture of part of the inside of a Fored wet clutch unit that's 'decomposed'. Look at all that old brittle broken plastic.

SImilar to VAG they were in the larger and/or higher power vehicles and I had one in an S-Max. Even those were expected to eat themselves for lunch eventually, but they were clearly way way better than the Ford dry clutch units.

That's a good observation Roottoot. I appreciate a lack of current reports doesn't mean there won't be problems in the future, however some of my fears have been allayed. Thank you all for your input.

Has anyone recently taken delivery of a factory order 1.5TSI DSG?
My last car was a 2nd hand Ford PowerShift with wet clutch and it was perfect for the 5 years I owned it. I'm very aware however of the Ford dry clutch nightmare which leaves me feeling extremely nervous about dry dual clutch in general.

I'm not sure that's correct Roottoot. I've read in several places there have been revisions to lessen the chances of an internal high pressure oil leak toasting the clutch pack of the DQ200 for example. VW do seem to continously improve things (and also continouisly make them worse 😄).

What do I replace my Skodiaq with
We've half considered a Qashqai e-power if you simply must change model. A personal thing I know but I've never felt the need.

No particular concerns around the current up-to-date DQ200 vs other DSG boxes then?

Has anyone recently taken delivery of a factory order 1.5TSI DSG?
I'd read the odd vague suggestion that the same thing applied to the Karoq however perhaps those references are just getting confused with the Kodiaq.

We tend to keep cars for at least 6 years and I'm not sure I much fancy letting the Mrs lose on a DQ200. YMMV obviously. 😉

Apologies for raking over this topic again, however as I don't really trust anything a dealer might say, has anyone actually recently taken delivery of a new 1.5 DSG? I'm hoping they now come with the wet clutch DQ381 rather than the dry clutch DQ200 and it would be fantastic if someone was able to confirm either way? Thanks team.

Slight noise when accelerating and turning left
This relates to BMW so I'm joining the dots to VAG:

Slight noise when accelerating and turning left
I was under the impression that the newer engines including the petrols had dual mass flywheels with pendulum weights. If Youtube is to be believed these can be quite noisy and rattle in certain circumstances. Could it be partly that?

TDI longevity for a short-journey car
Granted my experience is Ford rather than VAG, however I pretty much killed two TDI vehicles at only 50k to 60k miles by doing mostly <15 mile journeys. Some combination of DPF, EGR, hoses, sensors, fuel vaporiser, etc. I don't know if VAGs are fundamentally more reliable by I certainly wouldn’t ever take the risk again.

No launch control on new vRS?
In a lay-by, directly adjoining the main carriageway. System isn't bothered by cars facing the direction of travel, but as soon as it spots one facing the other way - 'kajoing' (tm) . Clearly not right.
-
No launch control on new vRS?
I always get caught out by the autonomous emergency breaking at a certain point on my way home every day. There's always a car parked in a layby facing oncoming traffic which always makes the car break hard. Gives everyone in the locale kittens every time. It's a really pitty that doesn't work better.

1600 now. I'm almost a hermit since becoming home based courtesy of the pandemic. 😉

Wow. I haven't seen more than 32 and change yet. Here's hoping I catch up.

Anyone else ordered a new Kodiaq?
I was looking for the bit where they were sticking on the exterior trim with chewing gum... 😉
