  1. which (on the face of it) appears to contradict the figures at the below link. Whilst there may be a grain of truth in that SUVs/4x4s/Pickups are involved in more pedestrian fatalities isn't that simply a natural result of more of those type of vehicles being on the road. The overall trend is down. https://www.gov.uk/government/statistics/reported-road-casualties-great-britain-pedestrian-factsheet-2022/reported-road-casualties-in-great-britain-pedestrian-factsheet-2022 Between 2004 and 2022: fatalities were down 43% from 671 to 385 serious injuries (adjusted) decreased by 42% pedestrian traffic (distance walked) increased by 16%
  2. also as a sort of sidebar you would like to think if you bought via a taxi supplier then all the relevant warranties etc would be in place. https://www.thetaxicentre.com/new-taxi-sales/skoda/superb/
  3. I take the pragmatic view. Any car can have problems to one degree or another and like many other things in life it's only the failures that we ever hear about despite the fact there are many thousands of people who never have an issue. If you want an auto get the auto and if its for business use just make sure you have the correct backup cover should the vehicle develop any problem that will prevent you from earning. To my mind that's more important than losing sleep over potential issues.
  4. Throw the problem back at the dealer when I get home. No obstructions in the door seals and that recalibration didn’t seem to do anything. oh and no DTCs recorded against door or window
  5. Does it matter which switch? From the drivers door or from the passenger door?
  6. No wind deflectors but will take a look at runners and seals for obstructions later
  7. (Nb will be reporting back to dealer I bought car from to look at but I’m naturally curious) front passenger window when closing reopens when it gets to the top. only way to close it is to nearly close it then nudge it up slowly. almost feels like an anti finger crush sensor (if fitted) misbehaving. common issue??
  8. MY18 1.4TSI ACT DSG Estate. Fuelled up on Sunday and it was estimating 695 miles. We've had a lovely day poodling around between Oban,Strontian & Fort Willima which has taken us to 205 miles sine refuelling and still estimating 520 miles remaining . That should put us at around 725 miles (in theory)
  9. on the bridge at the entrance to our holiday accommodation in Scotland this week
  10. technically this was yesterday but filled the boot of my 1.4tsi estate for the first time and drove from Wigan to Oban for a week. Superb !!
  11. my apologies, I didn't realise there was model apartheid in place ;o) oh camera option G may be (looking at the main sinosmart page at aliexpress) suitable for 2023 VAG group models. YMMV
  12. I have a MY18 MK3 and for £35 worth a punt
  13. If it wasn't chucking it down today I was going to install this Sinosmart plug& Pray unit (no coding required) I bought from Aliexpress for £35. Unless it clears up will have to wait until I get back from Scotland.
  14. I like this solution in a related thread
  15. Unless you have an S or SE with a Bolero . Sat Navs I believe start with the SE Business trim
  16. Granted however could the other benefits of hydrogen ,ie the ability to refuel in a few minutes for another 4-500 miles of range, the ability to be dispensed from the same locations that current hydrocarbon based fuels are dispensed from and refilled using a tanker system, no requirement for home chargers (which we all agree are never going to be available for everyone) , offset some of the current disadvantages of production?
  17. However *IF* there is a technology sea change and Hydrogen Fuel Celled vehicles become more prevalent, then it is entirely possible that todays BEVs needing "antiquated" fixed charging points and large capacity batteries will become irrelevant. BEVs are not the only future
  18. That's why I don't like LKA whereas LDW (as my GF has in her Ioniq and I had in my Ceed[both also had LKA but it got turned off]) simply beeps if you start drifting out of lane
  19. Lane Keep Assist (LKA) is a PITA however LDW (Lane Departure Warning) is mostly less annoying but I don't think we have that do we ?
  20. Or Just pull fuse 37 go for a short drive and plug it back in again ;o)
  21. dont forget to take them out for the MOT though if you do get some. Existing halogen headlamp units on vehicles first used on or after 1 April 1986 must not be converted to be used with high intensity discharge (HID) or light emitting diode (LED) bulbs. If such a conversion has been done, you must fail the headlamp for light source and lamp not compatible. https://www.gov.uk/guidance/mot-inspection-manual-for-private-passenger-and-light-commercial-vehicles/4-lamps-reflectors-and-electrical-equipment#section-4-1-4
  22. however you ar ecorrect , its only a top anchor
  23. However that Aussie one in the YT video clearly does have 3 Isofix across the back............................
  24. and here (apparently) is an Octavia with a reset button on the centre console. Guess there is some truth in the article ;o)
