  1. yes, neither condition is desirable. Then again neither is "weeping" ;o)
  2. the other option is to get a Wireless charging cradle (connected to t one of the USBCs) so that you never get a conflict between the wireless Apple Carplay and it being wired connection for charging. options options
  3. it's a different take, tbh I was more concerned about the behaviour of the Audi driver (especially when he stepped out in the nearside lane to take a pic of the van leaving) than about pieces to camera (which are commonplace in many areas) and which in many cases are no different to talking to a passenger. I think the blurring was lip service as it was rather poorly done, there are several places where you can see both of the AUdi occupants clearly. As for filming, you have no right to privacy in a public place and anybody can film anybody although YT may (if a complaint received) request blurring although its not a legal requirement (Black Belt Barrister on YT has several videos on the subject)
  4. I’m guessing that watching any “presenter” talking to camera whilst driving on a public road must cause the same memories or was it something about this specific one?
  5. yup, fully expected him to leave sooner
  6. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TUwYov_FMyM (added screenshot for ref as apparently embedding not allowed for this video)
  7. first thing I would suggest is rescanning for DAB stations. May also be worth visting https://updateportal.skoda-auto.com/en-US , chucking in your VIN and see if there's anything relevant. Certainly for my Superb I have an option to downlaod staion logo packs
  8. ah but if failure isn't detected how can you be sure you haven't had any issues ;o) (but yes its a minor one) BTW just looking at the full recalls.csv to see if it narrowed it down to more specific VINs it doesn't , seems to be all Superbs built between May 2013 & Apr 2015
  9. even worse(unless you are aware if what needs doing/additional checking). Buying a low mileage older car where rubber stuff etc has been deteriorating quietly underneath due to lack of use.
  10. well that sucks . Still Car manufacturers removing such a commonly used thing is only like Apple removing the headphone jack I suppose
  11. and there was me thinking the outstanding recall might be this (rather than dieselgate) https://www.check-vehicle-recalls.service.gov.uk/recall-type/vehicle/make/SKODA/model/SUPERB/year/2014/recalls A FAILURE OF THE FRONT TURN SIGNAL MAY NOT ALWAYS BE DETECTED Recall numberR/2020/034 Recall date05-02-2020 Recall typeSafety recall
  12. I'm going to guess that it may be getting confused . If you plug the phone in *before* starting the car and before wireless Carplay has a chance to kick in then does it behave normally? If the problem is only occurring when you connect the phone to the cable after starting the car and its connected via Wireless Carplay then try using a Cigarette lighter adaptor to charge rather than the built in USB sockets. It may help
  13. from what I've read generally the "SOS Error, Visit Workshop" fixes via firmware updates on any VAG product are no more than placebo updates given the intermittent nature of the way it fails. I've had it a couple of times now with my Superb and it clears itself after a few more trips (sometimes the next trip or after a stop|start of the car) before vanishing until it next has a minor hissy fit. Annoying to have the Orange Triangle of Impending Doom on the Dash ? Yes. Major Issue? IMHO No
  14. Another trick I've seen is to use a jump pack (such as those sold by TopDon) to connect to the car side battery leads to maintain enough voltage to keep all the little background tasks running whilst you remove the battery to do something with it externally. Hmmm wonder if you changed the battery like that would the car even detect the battery had been changed and thus not require recoding?
  15. The OP could do worse then try selling it via Motorway. I did that with my Ceed recently and got above the estimate when their auction finally closed.
  16. my tuppence worth. If it's only coming out in short bursts under pressure but not dribbling when stationary its "misting" If its dribbling out when stationary/not under load then it's a "leak"
  17. I had the 1300 engine Viva E coupe with the same body shape but minus the droop suit
  18. 100,000 acres is 158 sq miles which apparently is approx the size of the Isle of Wight
  19. NB GPS based speedos are not a legal replacement for conventional speedos
  20. I'll be honest, I normally use the GPS speed on Waze ;o)
  21. Aye am aware that is a UK reference. Are you suggesting one of our MPs gave an incorrect answer in Parliament (Hansard is the official transcript of what's said there) ;o)
  22. https://hansard.parliament.uk/lords/2001-03-12/debates/e08bd310-b9ce-4441-86ac-7e04348d8bdb/SpeedometerAccuracy The Road Vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations 1986, as amended, allows the use of speedometers that meet the requirements of EC Community Directive 75/443(97/39) or ECE Regulation 39. Both the EC Directive and the ECE Regulation lay down accuracy requirements to be applied at the time of vehicle approval for speedometers. These requirements are that the indicated speed must not be more than 10 per cent of the true speed plus 4 km/h. In production, however, a slightly different tolerance of 5 per cent plus 10 km/h is applied. The requirements are also that the indicated speed must never be less than the true speed.A vehicle meeting these requirements would not be able to travel at a greater speed than that shown on the speedometer and a driver could not, therefore, inadvertently exceed speed restrictions. Her Majesty's Government have no plans to introduce instrument tests.
  23. that's something I keep meaning to ask. My parcel shelf feels "sluggish" to retract . Is this normal or is there a way of lubing it? It does fully retract in the normal 2 steps but just feels "slow"
  24. I’m sure you’re local MOT station would be more than happy to check the alignment properly (presuming you don’t want to do it the old fashioned way at night against a wall)
  25. So presuming they were a proper MOT station then the lights are correctly adjusted
