Electric tailgate problem
someone please correct me if I'm wrong but I was under the impression that even post brexit a manufactures warranty (as opposed to specific consumer law/legislation) was still valid in Europe even if the car was bought in the UK. The only reference I've found without the aid of my morning caffeine is (from 13 Feb 2024) https://www.carbuyer.co.uk/car-buying/138836/car-warranties-explained-whats-covered-in-a-new-or-used-car-warranty If you’re thinking of picking up a bargain new car from overseas, be aware that manufacturers sometimes provide different warranties in different countries. On the subject of travel, rest assured that should your car go wrong while on holiday, warranties are valid within the EU – as long as you use an approved repairer. Many manufacturers also include free recovery within Europe as well. Although that does say "while on holiday" , rules may be different if domiciled in a European country.

Help needed please
couple of other suggestions: Does the bulb illuminate if you apply 12v to it directly whilst it's still mounted in the lens assembly? If it does and given you say you have checked you are getting 12v at the socket to the lens unit & there is a good earth from the lens unit then take a look at the female connectors, have they opened out at all ? if they have the male side may be going in and not touching the sides (had this issue on a Panavia Tornado once and took me ages to bloody find out that was the problem. )

Get a cigarette lighter adaptor and charge only from that rather than the built in USB socket. Seeemples- the truth about electric cars
seeing the profile info reminds me. The boy from Chelmsford did good in Jeddah yesterday with his hybrid Ferrari- the truth about electric cars
UK Government does u turn on proposed electrification plans and instead champions human powered vehicles. Due to the lower achievable speeds there will be less pedestrian injuries, running costs are anticipated to be slashed and and added benefit is improved health of the general population from getting more cardio vascular exercise.- the truth about electric cars
there has been a previous "golden age" of EV motoring but ultimately ICE won out for any number of reasons . Who's to say the current EV market isn't seen as just another sidebar in future histroy books? https://www.autoexpress.co.uk/car-news/electric-cars/101002/history-of-the-ev-from-the-first-electric-car-to-the-present-day- the truth about electric cars
Hmmm £0 spent on brakes? Maybe that's why they've had problems stopping them on motorways lol- the truth about electric cars
would you refer to a petrol station as "public refuelling" ?? probably not ;o) Whilst it is undoubtedly true that the cost per unit may be higher than on your home tariff at charging points away from home whats the difference ? Aren't these (most of the time) privately owned chargers selling a service/product at a profit?- What have you done to your Superb III today?
overtook a world record speedboat travelling down the M6 as we returned from a week in Scotland coming back down the M6 today from a week away up near Oban we spotted this beauty travelling down the M6 https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-68489654- My 2023 MINI Cooper S Level 3 Electric leased from Motability which will be with me for 3 years & now a 2021 MG5 as a dog wagon.
Two observations: sheesh the petrol in your area is cheap. When I left Wigan last weekend it was around £1.39 per litre, currently here in Oban it’s around £1.41 per litre. “Public” charging. Interesting concept when taken in conjunction to the reference to Council supplied chargers. Are petrol stations supplied “Publically” or are they public being privately owned with prices set by market forces rather than by a Public body?- Brake failure at 90mph.
And a kill switch- Brake failure at 90mph.
And this dear readers is why all handbrakes should be cable operated from a lever to the rear wheels.- the truth about electric cars
Look on the bright side. They at least exist!!- Window closing issue.
Footnote: following a text conversation with the dealer (independent she was bought from) problem solved. lubricated the top seal with some wd40 and then ran up and down a few times. He suspects tree sap build up.- the truth about electric cars
We’re currently staying just south of Oban. One thing I have noticed whilst out between there and say Fort William /mallaig/Skye is the number of EV charging points scattered around in “the middle of nowhere”. Possibly more than petrol stations.- Fuel reserve
I need to find a way to turn off that nagging “time to get fuel” audible warning whenever I get too half a tank. only happens when the GF is a passenger.- the truth about electric cars

but that's a 95% chance there will be no problem ;o) "The optimist laughed and the pessimist cried in his wine"- Superb for Taxi
so would a MY2018 fitted with a DQ200 likely have had those "fixes/changes" applied at the production line? There's nothing specific I can see in the service print out of my estate (ex skoda fleet vehicle) . All i know is that with just under 125k miles on her the gearbox (to me at least) seems fine. No jerkiness in any gears.- Superb for Taxi
Again though whilst there is no doubt that the DQ200 (as I believe is fitted to my MY18 1.4TSI Superb Estate) is regarded by many as the "worst" of the bunch I do wonder: a) how many vehicles have been fitted with this box b) how many of them have failed Although it is also good to know there are improved components available should there be failure.- Superb for Taxi
I'm curious, are there any "official" figures (such as a FOI type request) on the DSG failure rate? V.A.G combined sold around 462k units iin the UK in 2023 (source) so lets presume that 50% of those were DSG, wonder how many failures there have actually been? NB I'm not pretending there have been no failures, rather attempting to quantify the scale. - Using Android Auto
