  1. Yeah the BMW and Mercedes usually have a cover over them, but not all. Cant see a bit of dust causing a problem. Never seen a dirty one before anyway if that helps.
  2. Yes. Why would it need a cover? For decades we haven't had them.
  3. Id be more concerned about the rest of the missing parts
  4. I can't hear it I'm sure I would do, when I turn on the ignition I can hear it
  5. If you want to check very important to make sure engine is cold and has not been started for hours! I burned myself badly just from driving car into garage for 30 seconds. Just grab the rod at the back of the engine and you will be able to shake it back and forth, in and out. Sometimes the only repair is a new turbo if the wastegate side is worn. If it's the actuator you can try putting a new one and resetting the adaptation. As there is no fix the problem will soon happen again. The larger 2.0 TSI have a clip you can add to the actuator rod to help stop the noise but I am not sure if you can fit it to the smaller engines.
  6. Pretty sure mine doesn't prime when opening door. I just get in start, seat belt on and drive.
  7. Fuel pressure issues are a nightmare to diagnose as there are so many components that can cause the fault 😭
  8. The old 8 valve chain is very easy to replace as well and performance is fine. Very quiet engine, sometimes don't even know they are running.
  9. They say it's normal but it is not. There is too much movement on the wastegate actuator causing the noise. Something to do with pre heating the catalyst for emissions. That doesn't mean the turbo wastegate and actuator should make noise 🤬
  10. I'm surprised there is even an option to have them 🙃
  11. I just find the car uses a high amount of fuel so better to drive off and annoy Greta.
  12. Hi can anyone recommended some silly covers/door step covers? Preferably full size black ones?
  13. Right is right, left is left 🤣
  14. Look for a coated disc too, less likely to corrode over time. You could skimp on the discs if needed but always put quality pads in.
  15. I imagine it will have the 256mm discs and this type of pads, FSII or FS will be on the calipers. Also check if it has pad wear sensor on the passenger side, sometimes the ones with wires are cheaper than the ones without. You can cut wires off if you need to.
  16. Hopefully you didn't use tap water too 😱
  17. I'd never let a belt go to 140k, even 100k is pushing it. 6/7 years and around 80k seems like a better option to me. They aren't going to supply and fit a new engine for you if it failed.
  18. No lol that tell you is it making your car use more or less fuel.
  19. A little tip is if you buy your parts from TPS they usually do a rebate for the old water pump so you get money back.
  20. Nice, I need some for the front of mine. Some strange reason it only has them on the back. How much were they?
  21. Unused to be able to tell by looking at the top and the screws that held it on 🙂 haven't done one for a while now
