Engine cover, do we really need it?
Blue8793841 replied to D.FYLAKTOS's topic in Skoda Favorit, Skoda Felicia, Skoda Fun and Skoda FormanWhat sort of Ron fuel are you using? I'd have expected 40mpg+ on that engine.

1.6tdi cr water pump and belt - June 2024 prices
I understand. It's perfectly doable as a DIY job but there's always the peace of mind getting it done at a dealer or specialist.

Gearbox oil change
I'm sure you can shim the box to remove play on that model, also has a few drain holes and a set procedure for draining and filling. Can only be don't by draining and refilling the box as the oil level is above the filler hole. You refill from reverse switch.

Coolant question
Seems my tank has the later cap already fitted, what's the chance it has no bag in the tank too?

No wear sensor on front pads!
Common sense, I have in the past turned off the pad wear light on cars with VCDS due to the wiring being broken. Sometimes the pads without wear sensors are actually more expensive as they aren't as common.

Unleashing the Power of OBDeleven: A Must-Have for SKODA Owners

Coolant question
Definitely. I assume the system has not been flushed properly, to do it properly you would need to do it multiple times. With main dealer garages being on bonus schemes stuff like this usually happens cutting corners to achieve bonus.

Another engine oil question.
Yeah I will use genuine oil, if I feel like I am topping up to much I will swap to 0w/30 see how it goes. I think it's the later DCPA engine in my car.

Coolant question
If coolant has mixed with other type it can turn a brown colour. Is it said to not cause a problem.

A new user looking for information about Skoda
Yeah I like to keep the engine around max torque so 1400-1500 minimum so I'll drop a gear so it's under less load.

Coolant question
Thans id rather buy the original tank and cap too, must be some reason why they have realised the part.

Coolant question
I don't suppose you have a part number for the reservoir without the bag?

I was very surprised when I first drove the tsi engines. All the smaller ones were amazingly smooth and very quiet also fuel efficient.

Corrosion
Hello since the Octavia is over 10 years old now are there any common places for corrosion? I'd like to get some protection in place to prevent any problems later in the cars life.
