Please note that a simply battery charger might not do much. A battery conditioner for your type of battery might. Sadly in the 21st century not even charging a battery is simple. That might or might not be considered progress. Note also that some batteries are designed to support stop start and some are not.

Nothing odd about this sort of service plan. They can be bought at the time of new car purchased or (at least back a while) taken out in the first months after purchase. I'd ask them to check the A/C and re-gas as required.

Gosh, there is a simple way to do this which is to fit the right battery and then code it to the car. Coding is little more than telling the ECU "new battery fitted" it's not magic! A lot of DIY OBD devices allow battery coding and I'm pretty sure all pro ODB devices do. Yes there are all sorts of things you can do as an alternative including just bunging in a new, roughly the right capacity, battery. None of those solutions are optimal despite the fact that most of them will work without apparent problems. I'm out of this thread now - all the best.

It certainly sounds like the battery might be on the way out. 1) find a reputable garage that knows how to code in your new battery. 2) have them do a check on the battery 3) have then do a check on the alternator to make sure it's charging. 4) depending on 2 and 3 either get a new alternator or new battery or both. 5) have the new battery coded in to the car. The symptoms you describe sound more like battery than alternator. In any even what happens is the cars ECU makes a decision about using stop start. If it thinks the battery is a bit low it will deactivate stop start. A lot of short trips, engine still cold, use of the AC will all be factors the ECU uses to decide to activate or deactivate stop start. If you've read the above you'll understand the ECU needs to know how the battery is working, what it's state of charge is etc. This is why you need to code in a new battery. The ECU will go through a learning process to understand the exact characteristics of the new battery. This, in turn, will ensure the greatest possible battery life and minimise problems that could be associated with under or over charging the battery.

The Skoda service is useful. They may be able to tell you it's fine to drive 5 miles to a motorway services (next junction, home etc) depending on the problem you have.

Two schools of though: 1) Each album can be in it's own folder 2) You can have a folder for each Artist and put all the appropriate Albums into that folder. I think if you do (1) and you have all the metadata then the Infotainment system can sort everything by artist and by album. I load my music by album (method1) and the infotainment gives me the choice to listen by album or by artist.

There is a reason Android Auto makes screen mirroring difficult. That reason is that it can be dangerous. There are two apps you can try: AA Mirror and Screen to Auto. Download either App and try it. Once you have Android Auto fully working on your car then: Connect the phone to the car via USB Try the app of choice only when the car is stationary with the engine off.

Step one has to be to check all 4 tyres and reset the tyre pressures. If the warning are still there at the moment then make a little video if you can. That way if it happens again you have something to show the dealer.

You don't want to buy a dongle but you are happy to try to mess with the infotainment? That does not make sense. To make an android phone do things with the car you first need to link the phone to the car using android auto. One of the tiles (options) in the infotainment will let you do this. If you can't link your phone using Android Auto then you will not be able to stream video. If you use an iPhone then you need to link the phone using apple carplay. Bluetooth pairing will not let you do what you want.

You can try this: Connect your phone to the infotainment and then use an app like CarStream to mirror the phone display. Trying to re-flash the infotainment might stop it working totally.

It might depend on the age of the car. AFAIK all online services should renew via the app now. No doubt you have followed the links on this page? Škoda Connect Did you get an e-mail or in car message inviting you to renew services?

Be careful not to let mobile mechanics blow smoke up your a**e. If the keys will unlock the car remotely they are communicating with it. If the keys don't unlock the car then the key batteries need changing as step one. If you have to unlock the car manually then you need to hold the key on top of the start stop button while starting the car. Get it to a proper Skoda garage where there is a mechanic who knows the car.

The fact the selector won't move is probably the root of the problem. Did you see the mechanic try anything like this? How to manually release and unlock DSG selector on VW, Skoda, Audi, Seat in 3 steps If you try this you might find that simply moving it out of Park and into N lets you clear the fault. That's not to say it won't need to go to the garage as it might be a problem with the interlock. Odd that the mechanic did not check fuses, it might also be that simple. OK it's a long and laborious process but a single blown fuse could be a clue. There is a workshop manual on this site that might be helpful. If you check fuses then make a note if you find a blown one. A picture on your phone will help a mechanic no end when the car goes to the garage.

Will the selector move out of P? I assume the mobile mechanic checked ALL of the fuses? Are you sure it's not doing a software update?

I don't think it's a painted part. On mine (SE-L) only part of it is painted. It'll need special paint and special primer. TBH nowadays I use a mobile professional when I need all the little dings done. They have the right primers etc and can get exact paint matches. For other reasons I've tried most of the touch up paint suppliers and none of them ever seem to know the colours from trim and bumpers.

I asked about all this from Skoda (and Skoda insurance) before I spec'd the space saver spare wheel. First a full sized fully inflated 18 inch wheel will not quite fit the well. The temporary spare wheel kit is approved by Skoda so can be used within the limitations stated. Your insurer will be happy with the use of the temporary spare wheel if used within the limitations stated. If you mix wheel rim diameter on an axle you might fall foul of the police, temporary get you home tyre accepted. If you have an accident while travelling with wheel rims of different diameter you may find you have an issue with your insurance unless you are using the temporary spare wheel within it's stated limitations. The point of the temporary wheel is to get you home or get you to the tyre depot so you can get a new tyre. Yes a 16 inch rim would also do that but it's a little easier to argue your case should the need arise if you are using the official option. Myself, I don't care which option you select.

"The investigations revealed that it is possible under certain conditions to connect to the vehicle's infotainment system via Bluetooth without authorization," a Volkwagen spokesperson told us. The German car maker said that leveraging the vulnerabilities is possible only if several conditions are met at the same time: The attacker is within a maximum distance of 5 to 7 meters from the vehicle. The vehicle's ignition must be switched on. The infotainment system must be in pairing mode, i.e., the vehicle user must be actively pairing a Bluetooth device. The vehicle user must actively approve the external Bluetooth access of the attacker on the screen. Even if these conditions occur and an attacker connects to the Bluetooth interface, "they must remain within a maximum distance of 5 to 7 meters from the vehicle" to maintain access, the Volkswagen representative said."

I don't think Redex will do any harm but running the car on the E5 fuel as opposed to the E10 will probably be the greater long term benefit. This will be particularly true if you do a very low annual milage. E10 fuel absorbs water and water is not good news in the fuel system of an engine. Side Note It's why you should not run lawn movers and other garden petrol power tools on E10

I've had one infotainment issue in my 5 months of Kamiq ownership but it did not black out the screen. The system just got very confused for a day or two and needed rebooting twice. Surprised to learn that electronics parts are still a difficulty as I thought most supply issues were resolved.

For sure in the UK it is now impossible to change the stop start default behaviour. Definitive answer from a friend in VW. It will be same in many other markets. Then again pressing the button once the engine is started is not a big deal. As has been mentioned anything built after 2022 and it's going to be unlikely that the coding can be changed. Anything built 2020-2022 is going to be a lottery.

Thanks for the update the last vehicle I had coded to reverse the stop start button function was 2022. I will do some checking around and find out if current VW product cannot have stop start long coded out.

Stop Start - most dealers who have access to the correct VW coding tools can code Stop Start to default to off. You then need to press the button to turn it on. I fail to see in what way this fact is relevant as it is, as was sort of mentioned, well known that this can be done.
