New Scala Price Question
Seems a good price. Carwow have advertised 2027 1.0 TSI manuals as that price.

K and n air engine air filter !
If there is actually increased airflow, then there needs increased fuel consumption. If the engine management actually then means you get more performance is something to check out with dyno runs, and cold air being taken in. As far as being worth while then using E5 Super unleaded 97 or 99 ron minimum is a no brainer. If it matters getting maybe a second quicker to 70 mph.

the truth about electric cars
Potential of fires. Good they have identified possible issues and design, manufacturing or specification issues. How many fires have there been would be 'Honesty is the best policy', as VW Group were coming away with when the Emissions Fix caught them out and no more 'Das Auto'.

K and n air engine air filter !
Police / Emergency Services mechanics bin them not clean treat them. If you work in a quarry or cross fords or wade flooded roads and a standard filter might fall apart they are simply clever. A clean / fresh filter is far better for performance than a clogging up Performance Filter.

Mysterious wires in the boot
If you had done just a simple search on here you would have seen how often the same question had been asked, and answered.

I don't believe there is not a demand for manual cars.
All there is extra is a clutch pedal, and maybe you have modes to select, maybe a manual handbrake. For those Scandinavian flicks, J turns and Hand Brake turns that never get done on the road. You drive roads with the same speed limits / restrictions as everyone else. Some drivers are seemingly in a parallel universe. Hooning things the size of Airport Transport and the weight of an elephant. For control and choices a Semi Automatic or full automatic might have the same mode choices, paddles and a gear shifter for manual changes. @OctyOggy It looks like the world moves on, or parts of it, including the EU and UK have Average Emissions figures to meet because of Climate change / global warning etc and politicians taking actions. Good that there are still choices even if not every choice that some might want to make.

I don't believe there is not a demand for manual cars.
Fortunately for those that hark back in time there are Millions of vehicles already built all around the world, manual, auto, semi-auto, cvt etc, just buy a used / cherished vehicle, and in the EU / UK a pre 2024 vehicle if there is compulsory 'safety features you do not want. As to EV,s just say no if not for you and there will be ICE vehicles available used for 'long time mister' and new ones still being build for years to come yet and allowed on the roads.

High Mileage 2016-2018 2.0 or 1.6 Diesel, Manual or DSG: Service Checks, things to watch for?
A DSG is called a Semi-Automatic because that is what they are. Automated Manuals. But beware of possible issues with a DQ200 DSG fitted to a 1.6 TDI CR. Even if just reversing up slopes. Do you do high miles which rules out a petrol engine?

High Mileage 2016-2018 2.0 or 1.6 Diesel, Manual or DSG: Service Checks, things to watch for?
@WesBrooks You might of heard that about 7 speed twin dry clutch DSG,s as fitted to a 1.6TDI, the DQ200. But not necessarily the case for the many how have not such experiences. Then a Wet Clutch DSG that has Service regimes for oil and filter changes would be faulty if behaving like that.

Droning noise above 50 MPH in cabin
Fabia, Mk2, 3 or 4 only get 1 DSG, the DQ200. Twin Dry clutch, 7 forward and 1 reverse.....

2016 Skoda Yeti 1.2 litre DSG High Mileage | Seats | Cruise Control ?
The DQ200 7 speed twin dry clutch DSG has no service interval. But at the mileage i hope it has had both oils in the DSG changed. If it has not been overhauled it might well need Clutch Packs. Has it had Spark Plugs changed in the past 40,000 miles, air filter, pollen filter?

vRS230 front differential oil change ?
Those that Track their cars properly if the have XDS or XDS+ will put the setting to its lowest or Off, (it can also be increased from the 'factory setting' for the road.,) Off or low because once the brake system / fluid heats up it disables it,s self anyway. Obviously also upgrade the brake fluid and flexi hoses. PS, as to TC / ASR & ESP, there are those in the past from Scandinavian countries that code out the ESP for winter road use. Also for the track...)

the truth about electric cars
B & D are very much the possible issue. & the AC onboard charger as well. Then as far as his cables they need tried on another EV, because what they last charged does not mean still working. I have had 2 fail.

the truth about electric cars
@Graham Butcher Where did you see that i blame him for not knowing how to drive the car? You keep making up your own version. I am saying what a plonker leaving a car charging 2 days if it is not actually charging. & being a Leaf not checking it would charge with CHAdemo. High mileage, maybe never AC charged. If he had not checked on the recalls and history and if done he will be telling us the scores on the doors now once he has all the info. There is the USA recalls, the Rest of World and UK ones to check.

the truth about electric cars
Usable capacity new was 39 kW/h. What is a 40kW usable battery if it has lost 15%? 34 kW of battery. Battery condition B. 80 - 85 % of the battery. so 90% of only 34 kW/h is 30.6 kW/h Like the battery energy my MINI Electric had from new. SO what matters is is it only 1% battery range as now. Or was it wrongly showing. Yes something wrong. But it had a Battery Report seemingly... @Graham Butcher I actually drove early KIA Souls and was looking for the updated ones. Basically stop trying to teach this granddad how to suck eggs from your knowledge gathered online. Back in 2019 i was genning up on them. Watching videos, & trying them to see The Truth About Them.

the truth about electric cars
Good, 92 % of 34 kWh battery, , 27.88 kWh. So guestimating it will get 4.3 miles a kWh. My car showed 100% charge and 180 miles range. But that range is based on yesterdays usage and 10*oC ambient temperature. It is an estimate on best of efficiency. I have never got 180 miles from the car. It would need to be getting 3.6 miles a kWh assuming the Usable battery was as it was when new. PS @Graham Butcher I tend to top up a vehicle pretty much as soon as i drive away from where ever. Top up with fuel and then see the efficiency, unless already filled up, then i still monitor the efficiency. PPS. If the fuel flap fails to open, or there is a locking fuel cap & no key you are stuffed a bit. Not serious if you can sort out, or do not need to refill before you are done with what fuel it has....

EV real world range and cost to charge
^^^ Sorry, that is nonsense. The Offpeak is actually showing as @ 12.51 pence a kWh. I swapped to V19. But my confirmation email shows the 9 pence a kWh, midnight to 6am. Phone call to them tomorrow then.
-
EV real world range and cost to charge
Today Eon Next have changed the Fixed for 12 months Next Drive tariff. The Offpeak for 6 hours has gone from with 9.5 pence a kWh with V17 to 9 pence a kWh with V19. But the tariff for gas has risen. Top prices available today. Bottom as they were yesterday.

the truth about electric cars
So, if collecting a used car or loaner maybe as well as checking tyre pressures, go see if the car DC charges. The car might always of been Rapid DC charged and never AC charged, Be aware if a CCS or CHademo charger head needed. Be aware if you have a battery with only 85% health and it is at 90% charge then that is only about 30 kW/h worth of range. Probably under 100 miles.
