@dsgman We will see when we see what is on offer for under £25,000 once they show us and we will know what the Octavias starting prices are after their next price increase. Skoda need to get to grip with QC and after sales in the UK.

Lets hope it is an improved and reliable infrastructure. It is certainly not going to be cheap to charge. Hopefully chargers will work after the first £50 is taken off your card and not multiple 'Fail to starts'................ Last week with OSPREY Chargers in Stirling i had 4 x £45 held while trying to get a charge. I was paying 87 pence a kWh there because the app never worked. I was only there because the 4 rapid chargers at Castle View Park and Ride were out of service.

Maybe the New Dacia petrol estate coming out later this year will be worth checking out.

I hope that the New Dacia petrol estate car they are going to sell supposedly starting from under £25,000 will be a fully sorted model and a competition for an Octavia estate which have on the road starting prices from near £29,500.

I find that so with a petrol / diesel or EV if i then adopt 'coasting' or that style of driving is available, get a move on and up to speed and maintain it. But that does depend on location location location.

MOT,s in the UK are just so easy to get a Pass.

A double kickdown is good with a DQ200 but there is more oomph with 180 / 180+ ps, even 192 ps with a Polo GTI 2015 or so rather than a 115ps. 'S' can be just the job for those steep up hills, or even down.

£720 was very cheap. It was not OEM kit was it? Is VAG meaning a VW Group Main Dealership? Or VW Specialist @Brian15

6.5 hours in the book, and £800-£1,250 on the 1.5 TSI. Some independents as low as £725 for the quote and a couple of members. The Cam Belt change in 2023 for the Schedule change cam as many cars at 5 years old were traded in and Dealers W#were not going to have the job done even if the techs had the £3,000 kit and could do it in 4 hours when not messing about... They were going to have to do 5 year old / 50,000 mile 1.5 TSI ACT,s if customers would rather trade in than pay a Grand plus the other 5 years service items. Cars FMDSH yet not serviced to the Manufacturerw recommendation, specification, schedule or advice.June

OK, timing belt done. Which might well be the issue. There is a very high possibility of that. Was this a Main Dealer & how much did that cost. £666 bill on diagnostic and was parts, and VAT. Holy camoly. Were they charging for 4 plus hours spent on that diagnosis? I take it this last change of spark plugs were the 3rd set the car had. ??????? Was it part of the Recall for a Software Update? When was that done? Or were the 1.5 ACT Octavia not part of that recall!

A proper diagnosis is going to be required not & not just disabling a major function of how the engine is supposed to operate. Someone who has more than just a Code reader. This might be a 1.5 TSI ACT that actually needs the Cam Belt change sooner than Skoda / VW now say. It certainly needs inspected. The issue could be the anything even cam shaft wear..

Apples and pears really with a 2.0 TSI with a DQ381 7 speed wet clutch DSG and a 1.0 TSI with a DQ200 7 speed twin dry clutch DSG.

Is the Max Torque not between 1,750 & 3,000 rpm. Stick your tow down.

Not a cheap thing. But maybe the mechanic would check the cam belt. If keeping the car i would be doing it, and while being done it is more economic to have the water pump replaced.

Possible stuff. A service of the brakes and a brake fluid change. The Pollen filter and a clean out / disinfecting. The Fuel filter changed, Maybe the AC serviced. Stuff to discuss with a good independent mechanic. The DQ200 DSG does not have a service schedule but it might be worth the oilo changed in the Box and the MCU. But that would maybe be you going to an Auto Gearbox Specialist unless the mechanic is familiar with them. ?? Has the cambelt & water pump never been changed?

There is almost nothing and no extra cost to them really, Oil, Filter & Pollen Filter, the car should be getting inspected anyway. Then they pay Tax on Profits so the service cost is part of their costs and they do not put it through as 'cheap'. This older Green Chart is based on Fixed Servicing and not that accurate,.

Be Sure the full safety checks are done, and the body inspection and put on the system. That could be while their Workshop does the Service due very soon. Get the copy....

They are chancers or the sales person / manager is. I would tell them to think on... Servicing due maybe within 500 miles, 3 weeks. Is it not a Skoda Approved used car? All the Skoda leave the factory on Variable / Flexible servicing. So that is not unusual. Some get changed to Fixed at the PDI. ?When was this cars PDI done. Maybe a week or 3 pre First Registration.

Good, because if the Dealership do not want to get a Courtesy car dropped off again, or Skoda UK, Motability Customer Services can have them do so. Or arrange a hire car and the Dealership / Skoda can come get your car until fit for purpose. You are paying enough to Motability and you are in a very good position not to be messed about.

An Oil and filter change now would be simply clever. It is due an Oil & Filter service pretty much now if on Variable servicing and not done already. It is due an Oil & inspection Service in February. You can have set on to Fixed Servicing 9,400 miles / 372 days or have on Variable / Flexible 18,000 - 20,000 / 24 months depending on how many miles / use suits you. But for the Manufacturers Warranty a service / oil change is required. Is it not a Skoda / VW Group dealership selling you the car? So requires the Oil & Filter, Pollen Filter, Brake Fluid if following the Manufacturers Service Schedule, Guidelines / Advice. Body inspection for the Warranty should be done by Main Dealers but might well not get done. Even though they charge a Premium and Skoda list it in their websites. Not required as per Warranty T &C,s but yet Skoda UK / VW will point out no record of being done.

I should have got the Pirelli, there was nothing much difference price wise & the Pirelli are Self Seal and i am not carrying a spare in the EV. The CrossClimate 3,s are just so so on Snow. OK in wet and cold and dry.
