the truth about electric cars
Plugging in a PHEV with a 20 kWh battery @ a public charger & 50 pence a kWh, £10. For maybe 55-60 miles on Electric. No incentive there. If Petrol is £6.50 a gallon.

3p per mile for EV and 1.5p per mile for hybrids
All Pie in the Sky stuff from a Government that can not organise a p!th up in a brewery but think AI might help them out by 2028. The TV Licencing is a total joke as is the DVLA & HMRC. High time they sorted out vehicles & the Registered Keepers or Vehicles 'In Trade' ANPR can flag up various things like even Registered Keepers being a Banned Driver. Yet so many Uninsured or Untaxed vehicles are still out and about and these days 'E-Bikes that can reach 100 mph & that riders are using and taking the Micheal out of Police Officers. Sur-Ron's & others.

3p per mile for EV and 1.5p per mile for hybrids
As to Motability today. They do not want anyone leasing a Renault 5 EV. The Advance payment is £4.295 - £6,795, then over 3 years you pay over £12,500. If

3p per mile for EV and 1.5p per mile for hybrids
For a PHEV. say 13 kWh battery, charged at 7.5 pence a kWh and getting 30 miles on electric. 97 pence & then paying 1.5 pence on every mile & VED. 20 kWh battery £1.50 charging & 1.5 pence every mile. But if you Public charge that 20 kWh battery @ 50 pence a kWh you are £10 for maybe 55 miles. Then Paying the 1.5 pence. Actually probably not worth using Public Chargers. Or having a PHEV if a private user with no Home or Cheap charging.

3p per mile for EV and 1.5p per mile for hybrids
@MikeTheThinker 3 pence a mile. Then maybe the 2 pence a mile for those charging at home. or 10 pence to 30 pence a mile where ever the purchase the electricity out and about. So maybe £3.30 for 10 miles. £33 for 100 miles. It is a total p!$$ take.

3p per mile for EV and 1.5p per mile for hybrids
The £50,000 threshold is not bothering many Leasing a vehicles be them private or business users. Or even buying. They get the vehicle they want. The Chancellor says Motability will not provide luxury cars. There used to be a £26,000 threshold. Many vehicles that Disabled drivers or passengers are very expensive with the Conversions / Adaptions that are VAT free. They can cost as much or more than Mercedes / BMW,s that some seem to think are luxury. We will see if Mercedes Van / MPV,s are no longer available as wheel chair accessible vehicles, even non prestige brand vehicles can be £80,000. Re the VED+ and 3 pence a mile paying on a EV. Disabled Registered / Higher PIP Mobility drivers or passengers can be VED Exempt. So details on that will be interesting.

3p per mile for EV and 1.5p per mile for hybrids
Those using Public Commercial Charging paying around 10 times more than offpeak home charging and paying 20% VAT. & private users not able to claim back the VAT.

3p per mile for EV and 1.5p per mile for hybrids
Business / Commercial users will still do pretty well as will those that can charge at Cheap Tariffs / Home, work etc. Plenty time in the next 3-5 years for some new more efficient ICE vehicles to be on sale before any ban on the new ICE vehicle first registrations. For EV,s now the Luxury VED is from over £50,000. Still £40,000 for ICE / PHEV,s.

the truth about electric cars
@lol-lol UK electricity prices are not going up BIG TIME in 35 days. Ofgem says there will be a small monthly increase of 28 pence on the price of energy for a typical household who use electricity and gas and pay by direct debit compared to the level between January and March 2025 it is 1% or £20 higher. It is a 0.2% increase in the current cap.

Plenty about with the old VRS logo, a green V. No doubt someone will get around to turning out ones with that Font on the grill.

FABIA MK4 0W-20 vs 5w-30
@Breezy_Pete You said exactly the same in 2017. Nobody has to do anything. If charging for a part & 20% VAT it should be changed not put in your own tool box. If not changing it do not charge for it.

Exhaust Emissions Control System Light On
Can they not even plug it in for you to see if there is a logged Fault code. It is the EEC light not the DPF light on. Running up the motorway might well be a waste of time. Best get it read for fault codes.

FABIA MK4 0W-20 vs 5w-30
We can DIY any way we want and will have maybe for over 5 decades like you and i. 90*oC Oil never harmed anyone did it? It never harmed us now did it. Remember and tell that to Trainees these days. I served my time when we were Motor Engineers and had Journeyman training us. Different days back then. Different H&S as in none. But a kick up the jacksy for being a Muppet. Not that there were Muppets back then.. ...From a thread 8 years ago. If charging for a Sump Plug and you are sucking out the oil you had best change the sump plug or that is fraud.

Facelift mk2 octavia vrs
That full Service History should show the DSG at least serviced as per schedule, so @40,000, 80,000, 120,000, and maybe since so at 160,000 miles. The DPF might well be an issue if still fitted / not gutted.

the truth about electric cars
That was not from Heidi Alexander MP or the likes. That was spin doctors spinning / flying kites. Geoff Buys cars or The MacMaster and the other Non Journalists are unlikely on fast dial with them. But thinking, The MacMaster / Lee is a Journalist with a company car.

the truth about electric cars
MFG chargers about in Scotland and good for getting charged and going and paying double the cost of an economic ICE vehicle. Same with Gridserve or Osprey. Just crazy crazy pricing but they get used plenty by Commercial Drivers / Couriers etc. Not so

the truth about electric cars
My heart bleeds for you having to sometimes spend on public charging when just managing to get buy with all your normal cheap energy costs. Are there no Tesla Superchargers about?
-
the truth about electric cars
The Treasury or Staff working for Rachel Reeves MP & Chancellor are apparently leaking or releasing stories about tomorrows Budget & help for the Motor Industry, grants, ev chargers etc. As i just watched on the BBC. Surely these leaks or flying of kites can affect the Money Markets. No details, but just a nod and a wink to a blind salesman. Company car drivers.

FABIA MK4 0W-20 vs 5w-30
Maybe so. But really as far as Warranties and Dealerships and servicing you are not going to run the Non Long Life oil for 18,000-20,000 miles. .......Hot oil suck out is the way to do it. & be careful when there are hydraulic chain / cam tensioners. Especially so when draining oil. ***Operating Temperature oil sucked out for Professionals then remove Sump Plug was in the Guidance for H&S. *** They are doing many oil services not just once or twice a year. http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/496180-oil-petrol-engine
