Off side doors / windows / mirrors not working.
What was the issue how did you resolve ?

Off side doors / windows / mirrors not working.
Sounds like it’s the drivers door loom. It does not just affect the front. Plenty of write ups and info in this forum. You can buy repair kits or slice and solder and if course have the whole loom replaced.

Would wheels with winter tyres on taken from a Mk II Octavia be compatible with a Mk III Superb?
I have put mark 2 2005 vega wheels on the superb tyres size 205/55/16. the superb runs on 18” wheels. The spare is a 205/55/16 also. They fit fine because it’s not a V6 with big brakes. The only thing is, they look silly because of the offset business, superb wheels stick out more so fill the arches better. Picking the right wheels if in the market is therefore key

Octavia 2.0tdi elegance
I thought Skoda started bolting DPFs on from around 2007/8 to the 2lt engines, this is when things started to go wrong for diesel owners, if memory serves, from all the forum activity around that time?

Rear view mirror
Pretty sure it’s already fitted I have the same car and have had one even on my 2005 Octavia elegance also. I think there are a couple of LEDs below the mirror glass to show if on or off and a button directly beneath to switch.

Tyre bead sealer
Personally getting sick of alloys losing air. Think the only option is to have them refurbished. You may have noticed bits of the bead sticking to tyres when someone has tried to clean the bead and seal again at the Tyre shop. This gives you about 4 months of relief from the issue but it soon returns. I think VAG alloys are made of chocolate.

Is the 1.6l TDI engine any good ?
Try the 1.2 TSI like in our Leon it’s 105BHP. If you don’t need a diesel it more than does the job without the expense of a diesel and associated issues. Not sure if the Octavia came with this engine though. I purposely went Mark3 they look gorgeous and it’s a cam belt not chain. £20-30 Road tax. 55mpg as per trip computer on a long run fully laden. About 35-45 around town. Plenty of get up and go if you put your foot down. Torque of a diesel it does not have though

Draining fuel from mk2 Octavia vRS
If the fuel tank sender is under the rear seat that could provide access. Petrol is very dangerous and one spark/wrong move could cause an explosion so please be careful. On our 1.4 TSI golf 2008 I managed to take a fuel pipe off from the engine end use a hand pump bought cheaply from a motor factors with various pipes and hand pump it into Jerry cans. I preferred that rather than damage the fuel pipes under the seat and risk the car not being driven away by the salvage company.

Correct Tyre size
225/40/18 is the standard size. Check your fuel filler flap will confirm the same. I presume 45 profile fitted for comfort too.

New Owner.

Tyres any recommendations
I have an S2 and Octy 2. I have put my winter set of Octavia 2 Vega alloys with 205/55/16 tyres, they fit fine. Unless you have the 3.6 litre version I think you will be fine including the TDI 170 2WD, which I have. The only thing is the offset they look quite silly as they don’t fill the arch properly. I have a set of steel winters for the superb more suited due to the offset being different.

Missing tow hook
I have used these for most my parcels. Will review once I work out where it is and how much it weighs. Will private message you. Have you made sure it’s not sitting in your spare wheel foam as I believe there is a place for it with the Jack etc?

Missing tow hook
I have seen your profile Basildon to my North of Bham. Quite a long way

Missing tow hook
I have that detachable hook for my 2005 hatch. Weighs an absolute ton. I removed it after purchase in 2009. Somewhere in my garage. Postage would be prohibitive given the weight. Where are you based @Zoltanb?

Current best way to sell an Octavia diesel?
Auto trader gives you a price guide once reg entered. If the car is pretty standard there is not much movement on price. Most dealers and garages are very over priced at the moment. Part ex usually always the lowest you will get. Worth trying your luck here and Autotrader if you get to make 1k plus selling. Offloading quickly like WBAC or part ex comes with risk you getting less than selling private.
