  1. Which coilovers have you got, not all coilovers are created equal. The cheap end of the market has some pretty poor excuses for coilovers.
  2. But in the UK that will result with the headlights raising upwards on single carriageway roads and dazzling oncoming traffic, 110 kph would work better as its closer to 70MPH. The rest of EU land has a speed limit of at least 120 kmh, its only us here in the UK stuck the slower 70MPH so I guess thats why 120 kmh is chosen.
  3. Its looking good for the Kodiak, lets hope its as good as all the reviews so far seem to suggest as its a possible for my next car.
  4. I have removed some links to copyright material as per forum rules which prohibit the posting of such links. Firmware updates are dealer only. We have already had several members render their headunits non functional by attempting to flash the firmware themselves, and Skoda will not repair or offer any help with fixing this.
  5. Please do not post links to copyright material as the forum is monitored for content by others, including Skoda UK. I would suggest, as per earlier in this thread that the PM system be used for those interested.
  6. Bare in the yellower the foglight, the better their ability to do what they are meant to and cut through fog ant present you with a white sheet in front of the car when you turn them on.
  7. I use luke warm water, never hot like from a kettle. Just warm enough to melt the ice. Not had a problem yet on either the Audi or Volvo.
  8. Bring your step dad along as well David, sure he won't mind listening to all the banter.
  9. This youtube video also shows the part and how it all fits together.
  10. Excellent, looks like the usual gang will all be there. Anyone else?
  11. As long as the radio is the original one then there should be no issues with the code as its store in the cars main ECU. When you reconnect the battery the code is sent over canbus to the radio, only if there is a code mismatch will the radio prompt for a code.
  12. Seriously thinking about replacing the Audi and Volvo with a single car myself which is why I posted the thread as the deal sounds pretty good.
  13. Always supermarket, because the only other garage (Esso) in town is almost 10P a litre more expensive, any other filling station is at least a 20 mile drive. We have no competition in Blandford, so its Tesco or Esso. People use the Esso for the odd tenner here and there, but for a full tank never.
  14. The MFD maybe quiet a dated system these days, but it certainly brightens up the interior even if the map updated are no longer available.
  15. Keep all the receipts, they are still provided as usual. I much prefer receipts rather than book stamps anyway as service books can be easily forged.
  16. Ignore the voltage, its perfectly possible for a duff battery to show the correct voltage but stick a load on it and its another story. The battery needs to be able to provide a lot of amps to turn a diesel engine, so you need a proper battery tester not a volt meter. If the battery cannot turn the engine at 250rpm its not going to start.
  17. Correct, Driving sometimes in cold damp nights I drive past endless cars with steamed up windows at the back. I have my A/C on, its lovely and warm inside and no steamed up windows. With A/C the incoming air has the moisture removed by the A/C and is then passed over the heater matrix to be heated as usual.
  18. its not complicated when you have lived with it for years, you kind of understand it. I had a 1974 Mini as my first car, its registration was: TLM 636M, with the M being the year letter and TLM representing the area the car was registered. I've also had a 2001 Skoda Octavia vRS, its registration was; Y407 JTM, in this system the Y represented the year. This system is even more confusing because at one point each letter increment represented a year, changing towards the autumn, however towards the end of this series the government changed it to twice yearly. The reason given was to smooth out the peak in new car registrations as everyone wants to have the latest registration. My Current 2004 Audi A8 lets say: LJ04 YBB, now this is also a twice yearly system, with LJ representing where the car was first registered, in this case London, Wimbledon. Then 04 for the registration year. 04 is March and 54 September for 2004. YBB would just be three random letters. Another good read. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vehicle_registration_plates_of_the_United_Kingdom,_Crown_dependencies_and_overseas_territories#Characters However you can also buy any plate to fit your car, as long as it does not make the car look newer than it is and is not currently issued. For example I could put M4 NNY onto the Audi as its issue date would have been older than the car, but I could not put MA58 NNY on the Audi as it would not have been used until 2008. These plates are purchased direct from DVLA and start from £250 right up to many thousands of £. http://dvlaregistrations.direct.gov.uk Plate remains with the car until it is scrapped, and it will never be re-issued.
  19. Thanks Dan David, Jose are you bothing coming along? Anyone else for the first SW meet of 2017.

  21. Other members over the years have tried fly eye tint, discovered the poor light output on damp wet roads and removed it. With the Fly eye kit you are covering up 50% of the surface, thus reducing light output by about this amount. Nothing can defeat the laws of energy, that same 50% of light output will be lost regardless of the bulbs fitted and the poor light output is more noticeable on damp wet roads where reflectivity is lost. If you want to keep the fly eye looks, then you have to accept the compromises that this entails.
  22. Hollow out and remap is the only way to pass an MOT test in its current form, any cat with an obviously missing DPF will fail. However if in the future the MOT test is changed to incorporate the testing of NOX emissions then you'll most likely fail regardless of the route taken without a DPF. Replacement DPF prices will drop as they become more common, just the same as the replace CAT converter prices have fallen.
