Not everyone will be smart enough to hypermile, I can see the breakdown companies getting many more callouts - not for "I've run out of petrol/diesel" but for "The battery is flat on my EV" - it will be interesting to see whether they equip their vans with a universal boost charger pack (if such a thing exists) or simply tow the EV to the nearest charging station?

That's not about whether i'st a FL model or not; it's because you have a 1.5 - on the 1.4 and 1.5 the water pump is on the opposite end of the engine to the timing belt but most people on here think of the 2.0 engine where the water pump is on the same end of the engine as the timing belt.

That's fine where filling stations are being built, but round here independent filling stations are closing because of price pressure from the supermarkets in main towns (i.e. 15 miles away for the 5000 of us living in the small town I do). EV charging at home, in street as well as on drive and in garage) is essential IMHO especially in areas where there is a high percentage of people who either don't work or work from home.

Not yet, the guys at Ross-Tech are working on it but since the Golf 8 isn't freely available in the US (where they are based) it won't be this week or this month. Even with the diagnostic gateway you can still get fault code details, but you can't make any changes. BTW these comments apply to ALL third party diagnostic tools including OBD11, etc. and not just to VCDS.

It's not like that in much of the rural areas of the country - the vast majority of the people in the small town where I live drive approx 20 miles each way to work each day; yes we can get home deliveries from some (not all) of the supermarkets but where I live NONE of the national food takeaway companies operate so even getting a takeaway from one of the national companies means a 40 mile round trip by car. The "powers that be" need to think of the whole country not just the large cities...

They need rolling out in EVERY urban area before 2030, and with enough connections for at least one per household (remember many households have more than one car in daily use e.g. Mum, Dad, teenagers,...).

One thing that doesn't seem to have been addressed in today's "Green" announcement is how to solve the EV charging problem that people living in cities who have to park in the road will have - trailing cables across the pavement isn't safe (or legal?). Just providing more public charging points isn't enough, everyone who will own an EV needs to be able to safely charge it at home.

Try individual mode, you can change all the settings individually(!) there.

On my 2015 Octavia Elegance under the Individual driving mode you can select the ACC acceleration mode, I've gone for the most gentle option which seems about right.

I've fitted Superskoda LEDs to both boot lights and both door lights on my 2015 Elegance with no strange effects. Glovebox and overhead lights remain OE, that's a job for 2021

You need to get a fault scan done to show what exactly is the fault code which is causing the EML to come on.

With the engine running you set the AC to recirc, then place the 'bomb' inside the car (passenger footwell is often used) then following the instructions on the 'bomb' enable it (i.e. set the bomb off) then LEAVE THE CAR and shut the doors. Then just wait as per the instructions on the bomb before opening the door and safely disposing of the new expired 'bomb'. I've only had to use such a 'bomb' once but it certainly got rid of the musty smell.

Sounds like we are in the same 'neck of the woods' as we shop in Barnstaple, Bideford and Tiverton! I have a MIB1 Amundsen and I have to admit I always have the map display set to 50m or 100m so I can't say if the same problem exists on the MIB1.

That's the problem then, AC is just as useful in the autumn/winter as in the spring/summer because by cooling the air it dehumidifies it which greatly improves the speed of clearing fogged windows. All my cars since 2000 have had AC, both auto and manual, and I have NEVER turned the AC off in any of them - even those with manual AC.

When I KNEW that there was a software update available for both my Amundsen MIB1 and my engine ECU my then Skoda dealer (I've moVed since) not only refused to apply the updates but even had the cheek to tell me there were no updates

I have a similar feeling about lane assist on our second car, a 2020 Toyota Aygo, it too makes far too many 'complaints' on non M or dual carriageway roads - but at least when I turn it off it stays off. Seems to me that lane assists isn't fit for purpose on anything other than M or dual carriageway roads.

On a previous car (Audi RS4) this problem was caused by a restriction in (or too small a diameter) pipe to the clutch slave cylinder.

I've driven under that bridge many times on the way to MIRA, it was always worth checking it out for some new "scars"
