  1. The battery management / smart charging system uses the cable between the battery negative and the chassis as the current shunt (yes, it's very low resistance, but it's designed for that). If you could find the measuring block (which depending on the car will be either in the 61 module or the battery management subsystem of the 19 module) that shows live current drain I'm pretty sure that you can log it using VCDS, see VCDS Data Logging
  2. Using a current clamp ammeter?
  3. That fault is shown as intermittent, and has occurred 15 times with a low priority. Does the engine ECU at address 01 show any fault codes?
  4. Driving a Ferrari means the rules don't apply to you
  5. It seems that it depends on the branch - some TPS branches sell to the public but some don't, and just because a branch did last year doesn't mean it will this year.
  6. Is the timing belt tight (I'm wondering if there is a tensioner that has failed)? (I had this happen to me on a Vauxhall Corsa GSi16V)
  7. Contact a local car locksmith who does callouts?
  8. As I've said this assumption has been found to be incorrect by several members on here over the 4 years I've been a member so using an OBD11 app is NOT recommended - finding the required settings and then using the Pro pack to make the changes yourself is MUCH less risky, since you don't know what changes the apps make when they go wrong you cannot easily revert and may require an expensive dealer visit.
  9. I strongly advise you don't use the OBD11 'one click' mods because of the number of times I've tread people on here having problems caused by them (there's a new thread today from someone). As you say - more research required to find the exact coding/adaptation changes needed for the mods you want. BTW it's worth checking Golf 7 forums too - since the Octavia 3 shares many electronics modules.
  10. OP was my partner, we still have the same car and haven't seen the fault for over 2 years - no SW update, no change to the fuel we use but the fault just isn't happening any more? We bought the car one year old and the previous owner was a daily hire company, don't know if that's relevant?
  11. Almost certainly not so, that list is the mods that owners have found and shared - what it is NOT is an exhaustive list of what is possible with VCDS or OBD11. Anything that is a case of changing coding and/or adaptation can be done with either VCDS or OBD11 (or any other full feature VAG diagnostic tool).
  12. Both are 225 width, and width is what will affect how the boot floor sits
  13. There have been several posts on here where people have used the OBD11 'one click' mods and found that not only did they not make the change desired but they also had unwanted side effects. This happens because the changes to coding/adaptation are not the same on all Octavia 3s, they can vary from year to year and model to model. So IMHO it's always best to use the Pro version and make the changes step by step yourself rather than rely on a possibly out-of-date/incorrect 'one click' mod.
  14. Further proof that an MOT pass is NOT proof that the vehicle is legal
  15. That's been the case for several years with "LED rear lights" - it makes absolutely no sense to me either, if they're advertised as "LED rear lights" then IMHO anything other than 100% LED "bulbs" is a misrepresentation.
  16. I *think* the V5 shows whether the vehicle was new when first registered in the UK
  17. You can't, the VIN number doesn't depend on the country where a vehicle is being delivered to.
  18. Ross-Tech are working out what is and isn't possible at the moment, but the shortage of Golf 8's in the US is making it slower than they would like.
  19. The Octavia 4 is based on the same platform as the Golf 8 which has a diagnostic gateway - meaning that without a special one time code from a VAG server you cannot change coding and adaptation values in many of the modules. So the ability for owners to change the setup would appear to be much more limited.
  20. Whenever you change to a battery of the same construction (e.g. AGM-> AGM) and same (or very similar, which would inculde 59->60) Ah all that is needed is to change the serial number by 1 - this tells the BMS that a new battery has been fitted and it should relearn the battery characteristics.
  21. You rip them at 45rpm, then use one of the filters on Audacity to up convert it back to 78rpm equivalent.
  22. My 2015 Elegance didn't come with a service book, but the PR code sticker is inside the owners manual.
  23. Much of the software is shared with the Golf 8 - which was delayed for several months whilst VAG tried (in vain it seems) to sort out the software problems. Add to the problems discussed here the fact that VAG have introduced a Diagnostic Gateway which means that only dealers with access to the VW servers can make setup changes to many of the electronic modules in this generation of cars then IMHO I'm not going to be buying another new VAG car (and I've owned them continuously since 1999 so that's a long term loyal customer they've lost).
  24. There's usually a second PR code label on the inside cover of the original owners manual.
