2020 F1 Discussion
Bring back 1.5litre turbos running on devils juice fuel producing 1500bhp (its claimed) - I remember watching the Renault F1 cars in Saturday qualifying at Brands Hatch many years ago and being totally awe struck. 1000bhp per litre - OMG!!!

Rear Brake Sticking
2006 is an Octavia 2 not an Octavia 3 - so may be better asking in the Octavia 2 forum?

KPH/MPH
Which would be fine if all the speed limit signs in the UK were in KMH but as they're all in MPH it's not an option.

Van recommendation
Given that you'll register it in France, why not a Peugeot/Citroen/Fiat (they're all made in the same factory, just different badges)?

Dash Cam recomandations
Devon & Cornwall Police are using dash cam footage sent in to them to prosecute (successfully) cases of dangerous driving by other drivers. See Operation Snap

New or improved hubs announced, Government EV Loans in Scotland and free & no longer free public charging places..
Which BMW used to offer as an option on the i3 but discontinued it - anyone know why?

Radio has no reception
They definitely ARE radio antenna elements. Look at the lower heater elements - they are joined in the middle by a vertical strip, but the upper ones are not because they are not heater elements.

Skoda Octavia MK3 Front Sensors not working
You ned to do an Auto-Scan when you get your VCDS cable to see the fault codes - which will tell you which sensor(s) are causing the problem.

Dash Cam recomandations
GPS will confirm the location of the camera in case the other party denies they were at that location.

Work straight out the box
That's the point, most people won't use the manual level control (I would bet that most don't even know what that control does...) so with bright Xenon lights the requirement for auto-levelling is an acknowledgement that having the levelling done automatically is necessary because most drivers won't do it.

No driving mode selection?
Sounds like a ROI vs. UK spec difference as our 2015 Elegance does have a drive mode button.

No dedicated HVAC controls
I ordered my previous car (an Audi RS4) with the auto-recirc option but found it very often didn't work when we needed it - the sensor only detects unburnt hydrocarbons (i.e. unburnt fuel) not diesel smoke, fumes from road resurfacing, etc. So while the auto-recirc is better than nothing (it was a cheap option) I found over the 10 years I owned it that I would use the manual recirc button very often - this I believe shows that having easy & simple access to the recirc button is something that I, and many others I suspect, regard as essential - something which the multiple buttons presses required on the Octavia IV fails to provide. IMHO it's not the touch screen that's the problem it's that the recirc button is not on the top level and ALWAYS accessible.

Do you have the A5 camera or the 20 camera? A5 = yes, 20 = no

Home LED bulbs
The LEDs certainly won't have an isolating transformer built-in, so that means they will almost certainly have 1 conductor straight through and the other through a voltage reducing circuitry (possibly switched mode for efficiency). The LEDs are most likely wired in series rather than parallel (again for efficiency) so one side of one of the LEDs is almost certainly going to be directly connected to one of the incoming terminals. It would be interesting to use a DVM to do a resistance check...

Home LED bulbs
In the UK the distinction between line & neutral is well observed and all wiring is supposed to be checked to ensure they are not swapped over. Indeed the standardised European wiring colours were specifically designed so that even a red/green colour blind person could tell the difference between line & neutral. In the US, where I have relatives, they often have counterpoise where both are "live" but 180 degrees out of phase - both 55V from ground but with 110V between them.

Corrected that for you 😃

Home LED bulbs
But is that a couple of volts about the neutral potential or a couple of volts below the line potential? One is 2V above ground and the other is 228V above ground...

Annoying things about the Mk4!
Normal cruise control on the Mk3 was also on the top of the indicator stalk, but adaptive cruise control was a separate stalk.

Skoda Octavia Sat nav SD Card Problems!
I use a mixture of the 5E0 and 5L0 Skoda SD cards with my MIB1 Amundsen - both work fine. What I do is download the zip file onto my PC hard disk and unzip it there - that results in a folder called "markets" and a file called "DBinfo.txt", you just format the SD card (or delete all the files from it but format is quicker) and copy the folder AND the file to the SD card. If you've got a folder called "Maps" then I suspect you have downloaded the wrong map file for your MIB1 Amundsen.

Handbrake failure
I would add that in the 40+ years I've owned my own cars (which have all been manual not auto, and on counting back is more than15 different cars) the ONLY car where I have ever had the handbrake release by itself is my current Octavia. BTW it fully released, the handbrake was down, so it wasn't the case of hot discs cooling and the pads gripping less. Based on that experience, and those of some others here, it does seem that the Octavia handbrake system is less effective than most cars.

ECE 2019/2020 maps are now available on the Skoda Update Portal
There are no hidden files. You either need a genuine Skoda SD card, or buy one from @Rustynuts on here

Firefox Mobile
Same here - Firefox on all our desktops for many years. On mobiles I just stick with Safari but have Chrome installed for "if and when" but never had to use it.
