  1. Me & my brother use exclusively Philips LED bulbs in our homes, not had a single failure in over 5 years.
  2. Current VCDS version is 20.4.2
  3. What engine do you have in your Octavia? Not all engines have the same water pump, or problems with it...
  4. My 2015 Elegance 1.4TSI is on 45,000 miles and has needed nothing more than normal servicing and one new set of tyres.
  5. Just like to add a note that this only applies if you have an Amundsen MIB2 (e.g. an Octavia III manufactured after May 2015), if you have an Amundsen MIB1 then it won't work with any screen other than the original spec one (the resolution is different and you get double images) - this applies to my Octavia III which was manufactured in April 2015.
  6. 2015 is the changeover from MIB1 to MIB2 (my early 2015 is a MIB1 but build from IIRC May 2015 were MIB2) - it's important because they use different maps. Is it a genuine Skoda SD card? The Amundsen won't accept maps on a "normal" SD card.
  7. Type the VIN number into the Skoda update portal and it will offer the correct update.
  8. Normally only one, the one that says a firmware update has been done.
  9. Link to the article on the BBC News website Tesla touchscreen wiper controls land driver with fine after crash
  10. Are your maps read directly from an SD card? Yes = Amunsen, no =Columbus What year is your Octavia 3? 2014 or earlier = MIB1 2015 = MIB1 until May build, MIB2 after 2016 = MIB2
  11. It must depend on the adapter and the micro SD card, I've been using a micro SD card and adapter for over 3 years with no problems.
  12. To offer a different perspective - I have an Octavia 3, the recirc button gets pressed quite often when we're following a diesel that is badly setup and producing a lot of smoke (which happens a few times each month), plus SWMBO and I like different temperature settings so the temperature settings get changed every time we swap drivers. Having to hunt around on a touch screen for functions we use regularly will basically rule out replacing our Octavia 3 with an Octavia 4.
  13. On the vehicle data plate.
  14. A MIB2 infotainment with CarPlay so I don't have to wait ages for the Amundsen nav to start up very time.
  15. Hamilton crosses the finish line to win ...... with a left front puncture!!! Amazing end to what was a fairly processional race in the middle laps.
  16. Most insurance companies won't make a glass claim affect the no claims, however it will still be mentioned as a claim that will appear if you change insurers when you renew.
  17. I think Drive Mode is a SWaP (software as a product) feature that requires a FEC (Feature Enabling Code) from Skoda and can't simply be coded using VCDS etc.?
  18. My iPhone XS is too large to fit.
  19. The amount of steering assistance is controlled by firmware, so it's entirely possible that the setting in the SEAT and the Skoda will be different - given that SEAT is aimed at a more sporting image.
  20. That depends on what infotainment system you have. Is it an Amundsen or a Columbus? Is it MIB1 or MIB2? BTW the Skoda portal only offers updates to maps not firmware for the systems fitted to the Octavia 3.
  21. Since it had a mechanical oil based predecessor of DCC that's not very likely 🥴
  22. In Sweden moose suddenly running out of the forest onto the road is a real problem which results in many deaths (people and moose) every year, so this test is of real interest to drivers in Sweden - but possibly not of so much interest to the rest of the world?
  23. On plenty of these forums you will see that type of comment "battery was 3V so no issues" - but changing the battery sorted the problem. How come? Measuring the battery voltage on no-load doesn't tell you if the battery has gone high resistance and is unable to supply current. Best plan is to get a brand new reputable make battery and fit that - based on what has been written on here that will solve the problem 99% of the time.
  24. I had this advisory on my previous car at the 3 year and 4 year MOTs, never changed the shocks and never had the advisory again for the remaining 6 years I owned it. The difference? 3 & 4 year MOTs at a dealer, the rest at an independent - go figure???
