  1. Does the drivers window move slower than the other windows? If it's slower the system may think it needs to stop when movng up because it thinks it's either reached the end or hit an obstruction.
  2. I took a 1.4TSI estate to France several times with a roofbox and never felt it lacked performance or hill climbing ability.
  3. Yes, you can do it with VCDS or OBDeleven.
  4. Does this always happen on the same track, or a random track?
  5. @pab567 Can you help?
  6. Then they are wrong, like all (AFAIK) Octavia 3's your car has a BMS (Battery Management System) and start/stop, which means whenever the battery is changed the BMS must be informed of the battery change i.e. coded. If the battery is the same Ah capacity and type then all that's needed is to change one digit in the serial number.
  7. I would have thought that a fault code scan would show something strange in the engine ECU? There are several briskoda members with e.g. VCDS willing to do scans for beer tokens see https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/262215-list-of-vcds-owners-previously-known-as-vag-com-vcp-owners/page/5/#comment-5856576
  8. I used to have a 53 plate Audi A4 Avant 1.9TDI 130PD GmbH edition which was 100% reliable and a great mile muncher. Even after a chip tune I could still get 700 miles from a tank full of the smelly stuff. Just hankered after a V8 so I swapped it for an S4 Avant with a 4.2 V8!
  9. The accessory belt rotates at engine speed so it can't be that.
  10. The 1.8 and 2.0 petrols don't have a cambelt, they have a chain. The smaller 1.0, 1.2, 1.4 and 1.5 petrols all have the new extended interval - and as the water pump is on the opposite end of the engine do NOT require that to be changed at the same time!
  11. Never knew that, useful number to know!
  12. I'd want to get this message understood, and cleared if possible, before doing anything with the knee airbag. If there's a "device" on the knee airbag wires then that suggests that either there's another fault or the device isn't working properly. Get a fault code scan done, and understand what's going on before making any changes is my advice.
  13. It's really impossible to answer that without knowing how the dealer modified the car from new. There's a risk that plugging it back in could cause it to inflate explosively...
  14. It depends how the ABS software calculates the speed signal it sends to the instruments, most likely it does some kind of majority voting so a single sensor failure won't affect the speedo.
  15. Skoda UK used to say 5 years, but that was out of line with the rest of the VAG empire, so now there's an inspection after 120,000km and replacement after 15 years or 180,000km.
  16. And that's the 4 ABS wheel speed sensors.
  17. The reactors in them are the same design as the ones that Rolls-Royce are trying to get permission to create local nucelar power stations with.
  18. If you have the original battery it will be around 5 years old, and as the car has only averaged less than 5000 miles per year it's quite possible that the battery is not in prime health and able to hold charge as well as it should - this could be a factor in the inconsistent start/stop performance. Might be worth getting a proper battery condition check done, not just a voltage check!
  19. Could be a problem in the wiring, especially I'm thinking a connector as it's gone from intermittent to permananent?
  20. So did mine, but they were an option on my 2015 model which the previous owner specified.
  21. As a general rule VAG only fit the wiring for factory fitted options (only exception I know is the satellite radio option in the USA).
  22. I've been using a 43" JVC Fire TV which has built-in Amazon Fire for quite a few years - for me the deciding factor was the 4 HDMI inputs (FreeView, FreeSat, BluRay and Apple TV).
  23. Best to post in the Octavia 4 forum, there is plenty of discussion there about infotainment system issues.
  24. But still suffers from the drawback that it doesn't take you from where you are to where you need to be when you need to be there at an affordable cost. When I lived in South Molton the nearest mainline station was Tiverton Parkway which was a 40 minute drive away with infrequent buses to get there and parking fess so high that even with a Senior Citizen railcard it was cheaper to drive to London for a weekend visit to family. For mass transit to be a realistic option for many people it needs to provide more frequent services at more affordable prices and be part of an integrated travel network of trains and buses. The severe cutting back of HS2 and the lack of willingness to integrate mass transit systems means that it cannot become a viable alternative to personal transport without a total change in mindset in the UK.
  25. Thule Wing Bars and 900 roof box when I had an estate. Just changed the feet on the roof bars now I have a hatchback.
