  1. I've been thinking about a similar remap (but not for economy reasons!) - I have a 2016 L&K 1.8TSI with DQ200 and am concerned about the torque increase on the dry clutch DQ200 where unlike the wet clutch DSGs the option to increase the clutch clamping force isn't possible.
  2. Does it not also affect pre 2015 MIB1 units as these also rely on Trafficmaster TMC for traffic data?
  3. I doubt VCDS coding will solve what sounds like a sticking or jammed stepper motor in the speedo.
  4. ... and as said many times previously in this thread it is NOT VAG specific.
  5. Bad assumption - as said in your other thread. MODS - please lock this thread.
  6. Exactly, we were sold cars with TMC for the built-in sat nav which has been removed without warning. There IS a solution which is for VAG to pay to subscribe to INRIX and issue new maps (they only need to update the UK section of the maps as this is a UK specific problem). And equally importantly for Skoda UK to issue advice to ALL UK Skoda dealers and their call centre staff so they stop telling us we need to pay for diagnostics
  7. A 72 plate Octavia can have built-in sat nav (that uses Skoda Connect for traffic data if you pay and sign up) or Android Auto/Apple CarPlay when a suitable smartphone is connected. It's not the car that uses Android Auto it's your BIL.
  8. My uncle's renewal with AA went from £472 to £771 despite no accidents or claims. I found him RAC at £583 then he suggested that as I visit him often we should add me as named driver and it dropped again to £493.
  9. If you login to Google maps when connected to your home WiFi then you can download maps onto the phone, so then the only need for connectivity is for traffic data.
  10. The mode just changes the pedal profile, as SC03OTT says the power output is unchanged so if you floor the throttle there is no difference.
  11. If you have DSG it's the electronics that controls the DSG gearbox.
  12. I doubt it, neither of the Octavia Mk3's I've owned have any online connection so they can't access live traffic data by any means other then the now turned off Trafficmaster TMC.
  13. If you don't mind me asking, who by?
  14. Sounds like time for a new 'other half'
  15. Could be one of many reasons, you need a fault code reader to make any sensible guesses without that it's just speculation.
  16. I had the handbrake fail once on my previous manual 1.4TSI, I came out of the shop to find my Octavia 'resting' against the rear bumper of the car in the parking space in front - no damage to either car.
  17. 1 UK gallon = 4.54609 litres but 1 US gallon = 3.78541 litres
  18. Yes, it's the serial number that tells the BMS a new battery is fitted. If you don't change the serial number then the BMS will assume the old failing battery is fitted and is likely to start turning off systems to protect the old battery that's no longer fitted.
  19. Not on any VAG vehicle without SFD - which the Octavia 3 (like your 2018 model) doesn't have.
  20. You'll need to get an adaptation done because you're fitting a new battery. The CCA isn't something the BMS knows about and the difference between 68AH and 70AH is so small there's no need to change the AH details so all you need to do is change the serial number - just change 1 digit that's enough.
  21. Anyone with VCDS or OBDeleven or similar can do it - no need to visit a dealer.
  22. Also worth clearing any codes that indicate an ancillary has been shutdown for power saving reasons, if there are any, and any codes on the seat memory and infotainment system - some codes are 'sticky' and will affect the operation even after the root cause has been solved until the codes are cleared.
  23. Yes IMHO provided the time between post and bump is "reasonable" i.e. more than a few hours.
