  1. For me the other way round - SD Card 1 for music and SD Card 2 for maps. The truth is that it makes no difference.
  2. That would leave MIB1, MIB2 and MIB2.5 owners without traffic data on the inbuilt sat nav, not only is this unexpected loss of a service without prior notification to all owners but is also an environmental issue as that means we could end up in traffic jams causing extra pollution that could have been avoided if TMC was still available.
  3. They are not colour temperature changeable bulbs, only way is to change the bulbs.
  4. VCDS is a diagnostic tool, it can only enable what Skoda have written into the firmware.
  5. They played the obsolescence card on the MIB1 units when new maps stopped being uploaded 5 years after they were no longer used in production, so they have a history of obsolescence. Since INRIX say they are still broadcasting the TMC data it would be interesting to see the TMC related adaptation channels in a MIB2 unit and compare them to the equivalent ones in a unit that is still receiving TMC data, here's the onkly onw I can see in my MIB2 Amundsen: "IDE05111-Fee-based traffic information (TMC)" is set to 1023
  6. Don't the EA888 Gen3 1.8 and 2.0 TSI engines used in the Octavia 3 have both direct and indirect injection? This provides fuel in the inlet manifold which will 'wash' the inlet valves.
  7. If you have an Amundsen then it won't as the Amundsen maps MUST be on a genuine Skoda SD card to be recognised.
  8. I think mine is the oldest car on the new estate where I live as it's a 16 reg, seems most people here have a mortgage and a newish car as most are no older than 21 reg.
  9. There are genuine Skoda SD cards available that are 32GB and will hold the latest 2024 maps, I got mine off eBay - but check it really is 32GB (one seller misdescribed as 32GB but was actually 16GB).
  10. What that plate tells you is that 98RON is recommended but if you can't get it then 95RON is OK - check what the plate on your fuel filler flap says.
  11. The key line is that second one, 3335kg in this example, that's the 'gross Train Weight' i.e. maximum weight of vehicle and trailer.
  12. Downloaded the AS version and installed on 32GB SD card, all working great. Shame the map of the new estate I live on is still about 2 years out of date!!!
  13. You have to use the one that matches the infotainment system you have as they are not interchangeable.
  14. Since you have a 2015 Octavia that would be the Octavia 3 forum here
  15. I've only had one car where a cold air intake made any noticeable difference - that was a Citroen C1/Peugeot 107/Toyota Aygo Mk1 where the air intake was directly above the exhaust manifold and took in heated air, adding a pipe to directly take in cold air from the front grille did make a small (but noticeable) difference in hotter summer weather.
  16. That's an Octavia 4, you may be better posting in the Octavia 4 owners forum not the Octavia 3 owners forum.
  17. My point is that stating the infotainment version is no help whatsoever in determining the software version of ANY of the very many other modules in the car, so is no help in determining the behaviour of other car systems such as ACC, etc.
  18. Remember that the version being talked about as 1896 or 1900 cannot be taken as being definitive for all the processor modules throughout the vehicle - do a VCDS or OBDeleven scan and you'll see how many different modules running different software there are in an Octavia 4!
  19. My point is that they were VW, SEAT and Audi but not Skoda - Skoda are not seen as desirable by vehicle thieves. And as J.R. points out the immobiliser encryption is much stronger than the DES algorithm and has yet to be broken so any vehicle with the full immobiliser system in place cannot be stolen in the easy way the article suggests. I think the article has an element of journalistic simplification so should be treated with some scepticism. BTW I spent many years working on vehicle electronics for a major automotive consultancy so I'm not ignorant on these issues.
  20. Skodas don't appear in the top 10 of cars that are stolen, so I'm not going to lose any sleep over it.
  21. And there is still no proper solution for people living in mobile not spots to have the ability to make emergency calls during a power cut if the power cut is longer than 1 hour (the time the available battery backup option lasts).
  22. Try driving in a circle on full lock left then full lock right to reset the steering angle sensor.
  23. That won't help those of us with older Skoda models that do not support Skoda Connect. For us there is no solution I am aware of since the only way the infotainment systems we have can get traffic data is via RDS/TMC?

I've purchased from Kopacek both in 2016 and 2023, the only issue I've had is that post Brexit they will not ship items that are larger than the Royal Mail limits so I had to cancel my recent order for the power bonnet struts - no refund needed as they contacted me before processing the order.
  25. Probably a good idea to ask in the Fabia 1 forum where fellow Fabia owners will be visiting?
