TMC traffic events no longer being received...firmware update required?
A 72 plate Octavia can have built-in sat nav (that uses Skoda Connect for traffic data if you pay and sign up) or Android Auto/Apple CarPlay when a suitable smartphone is connected. It's not the car that uses Android Auto it's your BIL.

My uncle's renewal with AA went from £472 to £771 despite no accidents or claims. I found him RAC at £583 then he suggested that as I visit him often we should add me as named driver and it dropped again to £493.- recharging the battery?
No and yes.- Traffic red lines no longer showing on Sat nav
If you login to Google maps when connected to your home WiFi then you can download maps onto the phone, so then the only need for connectivity is for traffic data.- 0 - 60 mph figures
The mode just changes the pedal profile, as SC03OTT says the power output is unchanged so if you floor the throttle there is no difference.- Possible water damage and electrical issues.
- Traffic red lines no longer showing on Sat nav
I doubt it, neither of the Octavia Mk3's I've owned have any online connection so they can't access live traffic data by any means other then the now turned off Trafficmaster TMC.- DSG repair costs-should skoda pay
If you don't mind me asking, who by?- 2818 ŠKODA Octavia VRS TDI just bought
Sounds like time for a new 'other half'- Turbo blown?
Could be one of many reasons, you need a fault code reader to make any sensible guesses without that it's just speculation.- Parking pawl not engaging
I had the handbrake fail once on my previous manual 1.4TSI, I came out of the shop to find my Octavia 'resting' against the rear bumper of the car in the parking space in front - no damage to either car.- 2818 ŠKODA Octavia VRS TDI just bought
1 UK gallon = 4.54609 litres but 1 US gallon = 3.78541 litres- recharging the battery?
Yes, it's the serial number that tells the BMS a new battery is fitted. If you don't change the serial number then the BMS will assume the old failing battery is fitted and is likely to start turning off systems to protect the old battery that's no longer fitted.- 2018 ŠKODA Octavia VRS TDI VCDC lead
Not on any VAG vehicle without SFD - which the Octavia 3 (like your 2018 model) doesn't have.- recharging the battery?
You'll need to get an adaptation done because you're fitting a new battery. The CCA isn't something the BMS knows about and the difference between 68AH and 70AH is so small there's no need to change the AH details so all you need to do is change the serial number - just change 1 digit that's enough.- Computer Glitch?
Anyone with VCDS or OBDeleven or similar can do it - no need to visit a dealer.- Computer Glitch?
Also worth clearing any codes that indicate an ancillary has been shutdown for power saving reasons, if there are any, and any codes on the seat memory and infotainment system - some codes are 'sticky' and will affect the operation even after the root cause has been solved until the codes are cleared.- Wing mirrors
Yes IMHO provided the time between post and bump is "reasonable" i.e. more than a few hours.- Mk1 vrs new exhaust, holding back
No, some mods don't affect certification but others like removing the cat do.- SatNav SD card not loading?
Not a very bright dealer, as that's the map SD card for a MIB1 Amundsen as fitted to an early Octavia 3. I suggest you post in the Octavia 2 forum and ask how map updates should be done https://www.briskoda.net/forums/forum/28-skoda-octavia-mk-ii-2004-2013/ *Edit* Some surfing shows that if you have an Amundsen it will be an RNS310, so you need an SD map card for an RNS310 not a MIB1.- Mk1 vrs new exhaust, holding back
The likelihood of passing an MOT with a decat is very low, and removing the cat on a car certified to need one (which a Mk1 Octavia is) then using it on the road is AFAIK a moving traffic offence which is why plod would be 'interested'. We're not trying to make you a nervous wreck, just making sure you understand the legal niceties of deleting the cat on a road car.- SatNav SD card not loading?
What sat nav system do you have, the SD card requirements vary? Is the SD card for your system not a later MIB1 or MIB2/2.5 system as fitted to an Octavia 3 (a 2011 Octavia is an Octavia 2) - the maps are different between them all.- Amundsen Mib2 Map Updates 2024
It the VAG naming convention: In late Spring they issue maps that cross over 2 years, so this year it's 2023/2024 maps. In late Autumn of the year before they issue maps for the next year, so in Autumn 2023 they will issue 2024 maps. The year naming of the maps doesn't indicate when the map data is frozen, for example I moved into my house on my new build estate in April 2022 (other residents moved in nearly a year earlier) but the 2023/2024 maps still don't show the road that I and nearly 60 other houses are on!- 98 replies

I've been using the 2024 maps with my MIB2 Amundsen for a couple of weeks and it's made no difference - TMC is still crossed out. - Huge jump in premium!
