  1. ….. but the tyre make and type does make a huge difference to the amount of noise in the cabin. P7’s were unbelievably noisy; the Conti All Season are much quieter.
  2. The interesting part about all this is I was told, by SUK, in June 2020 that warranty decisions are the responsibility of the dealer, which I take to mean dealer warranty decisions are audited after the event by the warranty team at MK and if they deem it was fair, they’ll pay the dealer for the parts and labour. We had a similar situation in car rental, whereby we had dealer warranty status and could therefore authorise warranty decisions and then claims from the manufacturer. I can only think this is why there is a reluctance to authorise claims were they think there is the slightest possibility of it being rejected.
  3. That is terrible! How can the VC not have a decent transparent protection screen?
  4. Yeah, but it’s a Frankinperb, Colin, so it don’t count…😂
  5. Welcome to the 280 Club, leolito.👍🏻
  6. Ours is an April ‘16 car and it doesn’t have a build sticker.
  7. £67….? To replace the pollen filter…..? It literally took idiot me ten minutes, start to finish, including finishing me tea, unwrapping the very expensive Mann Clinkerstomdisinfectonstafuntenfart filter, walking to the car, contorting myself in the footwell and walking to from the car in the garden! They cannot pay more than £4 trade for the standard filter (on the basis we used to get 68% on filters) so that works out to an hourly labour rate of….. drum roll….. a mere £378!!
  8. Well, putting aside trim, what’s your annual mileage? If it’s >12k PA then it’s probably best going for a diesel from an annual financial standpoint. £12.5k is generally going to get you a higher mileage, lower spec car, but there are a few nicer spec decent mileage ones on Autotrader too.
  9. …which yours is not, of course.
  10. So the Dublin dealer has not investigated the water ingress issue any further? Are you now waiting for the outcome of tests VAG will undertake on the oil? Is that what the dealer told you they’d do? I ask as I’d be a bit sceptical on that one! You said in your original post it is booked in with your local dealer, so are DMG aware of the issue? Either way, I’d be making a huge fuss about it, because at best it could leave you stranded at the roadside and at worst, you could suffer an engine seize and a potential accident as a result.
  11. Just sighed to myself on this 1st world problem…. 🙄 Meanwhile, in Gaza / Ukraine / Syria today….
  12. I’m guessing your dealer is DMG on the N15? Any indicator of emulsification like that on your dipstick is bad news and, potentially, a terminal issue. Did you ask them if they flushed the engine when they changed the oil at 30k? Also, did you ask them how water would enter through a loose dipstick tube? How often do you check the oil level? Has there been no signs of emulsification until your latest check?
  13. The only time my DSG has “clunked” or more probably the propshaft, has been a couple of times when I put it in reverse, but that’s it. I’d’ve thought any other occasion ain’t normal, ain’t a “characteristic” and ain’t a “feature”; it’ll be boolocks if a main dealer After-sales Manager, technician/service receptionist et al spouts any of that nonsense.
  14. Yes Colin. Washed the car yesterday and they’re all covered in rust today. Having said that, the MKI and MKII were exactly the same.
  15. Brilliant service… My “Local” main dealer (a mere 50 mile round trip) couldn’t fix a wheel sensor for 2 months.
  16. Also, is the car in eco mode? If it is, try normal mode before Sport. Additionally, in my experience, Skoda dealers don’t apply any updates unless there’s a specific issue noted by the owner, then they might check. What year is the car? Does it have a 6 speed DSG?
  17. What year, mileage, service history etc. OK, well, we’re here to help and advise on correct parts etc. so just ask. Re the DSG, you’ve been used to driving a petrol 290bhp vehicle to a diesel 147bhp vehicle. Has the DSG been serviced? Have you tried Sport mode?
  18. I’ve inadvertently opened the tailgate a couple of times whilst in traffic and its bloody annoying you have to get out to close it, so I have enormous sympathy for you, given your need to assemble your wheelchair to do the same. It is ridiculous that the button can’t activate closing it, but obviously there must be ‘000’s of decapitations, crush and other serious injuries for Tesla / Jaguar / et al owners which has the ability to close it from the inside. So thank gawd we can’t do it… 🙄
  19. Why didn't you return the expansion tank for a correct unit instead of bodging it? What L&K Superb do you have, a Petrol or Diesel? What do you think is “wrong” with the gearbox? What are the symptoms? A DSG box is nothing like a traditional slush box. What is wrong with the wheels; ride or noise? Reducing the wheel size from 19 to 18 will not improve the ride experience by any noticeable degree. Changing the tyres for something like all seasons would massively reduce tyre roar.
  20. Have you tried a reset? It might work. Make the seat go all the way forward. When it stops, push the switch forward again; it’ll go forward a few mm and the stop again. Do the same for reversing the seat. Set the seat in the position you want, press the “Set” button and then button 1. You should get a confirmation bong.
  21. Ah.. 😂 Well, don’t worry about the dealer network as you’ve found a better alternative. As for DMG, they have the whole county to themselves so they don’t care. Unfortunately, Skoda no longer have to have a better customer experience than the rest of the main VAG group to gain and retain, as they’ve been established as a mainstream brand for >20 years now.
  22. I note you’re in Dublin. I recall another member very recently having a good experience of a Indy called MAD in your fair city. Their website is here. I had a particularly bad experience at DMG in Donegal a couple of years ago.
  23. They already do, but unfortunately they’re cloning the Lookers Group, as apparently they’re the pinnacle of advanced customer service. (my ar$e)….
  24. I don’t doubt there are, but i don’t want to have to travel hours to go to one. And I baulk when there is no availability for two months “courtesy cars” that are actually hire cars (so I had to wait in the reception area, cos I was damned if I’d pay £30 for a Citigo for 3 bloody hours). ridiculous hourly pricing work not carried out and rude and ignorant staff and GM’s who don’t give a toss… Well, that was my experience of the three main dealers I had to use on this car before the warranty ran out, but I don’t suffer any of these main dealer features anymore.
