  1. I’ve had chromed steel caps on ours which I bought from eBay for four years and I’ve had no issues getting them off or back on again.
  2. Yeah, in the Summer it’s fine… well, not the oil, obviously (thank gawd for 5/30!) In the winter it does struggle. Currently 27. Drops to 24 in the Winter. Gentle right foot and using Eco does help, as there are long stretches I can coast. I know what you mean, but I’ve always coasted whenever I could when I had a manual, so it doesn’t bother me. In any event, you can use the paddles to downshift if y’want.
  3. If they’re the same as the Superb units, I have a spare which you can have.
  4. ^^^^ is what I do, albeit I’ve been using E on my enormous 4 mile round trip to work (🤣) now the weather has warmed-up; definitely improves MPG. My 2016 idles at 1000 in S mode.
  5. Definitely sounds like a loose bracket or other type of fixing. Did you buy from a dealer?
  6. I’d speak to the retailer in the 1st instance however, I’d be very surprised if they’ll be covered under any used car warranty.
  7. It sounds more like a rattle rather than a metal-to-metal sound, but it’s impossible to be sure. Can you, or better still a passenger, try to ascertain where the sound is being produced? Turn off the AC, retract the load cover and drop the rear seats too.
  8. It’s to pop in any parts you find that fall off under the dash, so the techs can easily find and chuck them in the bin and say they’ve refitted them…
  9. I would think it will drastically reduce the diode life, as all the fan is doing is circulating hot air inside the headlamp unit.
  10. JR RS, how does it do this once the back cover is reinstalled?
  11. No idea what they are, but I like ‘em!
  12. And dirt cheap… think I paid £7 for mine.
  13. Yep, Works perfectly! 👍🏻
  14. Yes, I do and yes, it really does improve mpg.
  15. So the revs drop to idle when you take your foot off the accelerator? You’re absolutely sure? Ahhhhhh, so you have a sentient DSG box too? When does it decide to coast - when it’s tired or just really hot?
  16. Eco mode to coast here too. I think we’ve established your colleague's recollection is incorrect.
  17. Is it the right rear footwell looking from the front or rear of the car? And there’s no sign of moisture in the boot?
  18. Thanks Bap. No of course it didn’t happen; SWMBO had different ideas, involving in no particular order, the dump, the granddaughters garden swing and a potted dead bamboo…. Enough said. 🙄 Oh another reason the trim has to come off is that the wash decided yesterday to have a partial blockage, causing a dribble of washer fluid to emerge. I can’t clear it from above, so I’m presuming it’s before the right angle connector on the bottom of the motor.
  19. So with the weather being ok today I want to start the install the rear dashcam. Does anyone have advice / instructions on the removal of the tailgate trim? So I’ve done a site lookup and I’ve found there is a torx bolt in the upper section somewhere and the lower section needs to be remove first, but I’d like a bit more information if anyone can help, so the FU 🧚 remains firmly in their place!
  20. The Gap is generally ok, but come off the R252 or drive down Woodland off the N15 to get to the where relatives live in the north and blimey, the roads are terrible.
  21. Yeah, I agree, but that’s not a failing of the tyres. People here and elsewhere have slated the Pirelli P7’s as being poor in the wet but, apart from high noise levels in the car, I found them to be fine. I only changed them for all seasons because we travel to Donegal in the winter and weather there can be treacherous, especially on their B equivalent roads. I remember I bought a set of….. wait for it - Infinity Ecomax - on the MKII and they were bloody great. Quiet, great in the dry and wet. I remember I had to do a big emergency stop on the M25, in the rain and there was no drama. They were £50 a pop.
  22. Unfortunately, this phrase is so over used and inaccurate, it borders on the ridiculous. 95% of drivers bottle will let go far earlier than 95% of the tyres will.
  23. Yeah, I didn’t end up paying that. I think the came out to £190. That’s good. Why not go with a new pair of those?
  24. Thanks. So what is your budget? I ask as ultimately, this drives what you're going to purchase. If you're looking at £150 a unit, there'd be no point in us suggesting £200 units. I wanted all-season tyres so I knew I'd be looking at least £250 a unit.
  25. Welcome to Briskoda! What is the problem you’re trying to fix? If there isn’t one, why do you want to update it?
