  1. Hmmmm. I was told it was an extension to the original manufacturers warranty and cover was identical.
  2. ….actually, don’t take no for an answer! Just how can it not be a warranty issue? It’s not a service item. It’s not wear and tear. It’s a component failure, so that absolutely should be covered on their extended warranty. Having said that, I believe it’s the opinion of the dealer which determines a lot of warranty decisions, so speak to the Dealer GM. If they don’t give an explanation, write to the Skoda CEO and the U.K. Good luck.
  3. £3,418???? Where do they get these insane numbers from? And I guess that’s plus VAT? I know there’s a lot of plumbing and “stuff” on that cover, but at £150 an hour thats over 20 hours labour plus some parts. I find that utterly ridiculous. Get a quote from a VAG specialist ASAP; you’ve nothing to lose.
  4. .....and once again, VAG shake their heads and wonder why owners change to marque specialists, rather than leaving their vehicles in the care of the dealer network... 🙄
  5. I have a March ‘16 280 L&K with 46k and it’s been very reliable. The only issues have been a leaking water pump (an expensive “standard” EA888 engine family issue), a leaking airco condenser and a failed wheel speed sensor. TBH, I don’t think there’s a greater proportion of early vehicle owners complaining any more about reliability than later vehicle owners.
  6. Thanks. Which version/engine does this affect?
  7. I know that feeling, Colin. Today, mine appeared to’ve been hit by the fallout of a passing albatross relieving itself. 🤮
  8. That rotational sound is too slow to be the water pump. It appears to be in time with the cam or aux belt travelling a complete cycle. Unfortunately, apart from that observation, I can’t be of more help. 🙄
  9. AFAIA, there isn’t a clutch in the diff; there is one in the Haldex.
  10. Nothing surprises me in terms of the costs of major line items. The manufacturers have always made huge profits on parts, but especially so on MLI. Let’s face it,18% of the original RRP of the car is ludicrous.
  11. Is this a guessing game?
  12. With circa 320 bhp, I get around 21-23mpg on a very short commute and around 36 on a decent run. I’d imagine if it were a 320bhp V8, I'd guess it’d be closer to 10-12mpg, so no complaints here.
  13. Hmmmm… a lack of refuelling may’ve been an excuse in the early 20th century, before the introduction of the fuel gauge and before ‘000’s of petrol stations were available, but not in the 21st century.
  14. Just a little bit??? Perhaps you should have mentioned this somewhat important fact at the start of the thread?
  15. According to a friend who’s an RAC Tech, in their experience, the vast majority of those idiot drivers who run out of fuel, are men.
  16. Mine did this a couple of times when the door was frozen shut. I opened it from the inside as per the OP. It resolved itself once the door unfroze and it’s never done it since
  17. They are a brilliant idea. I use them all the time..
  18. Sheesh. PHEV or not; that is bloody dangerous and nothing to do with the model type. It’ll probably turn out to be a £50 selector switch, a weak spring or a failed notwhat.
  19. It’s the potential leak of fumes inside the car I’d be concerned about.
  20. Thanks.. The most common issue that I know of on the EA888 engine is the failure of the water pump/thermostat housing, causing it to leak, resulting in coolant loss. I had mine replaced a couple of years ago. It’s an expensive job, between €800/1000. Other than that, AFAIK these engines are very reliable and very, very tuneable, to beyond 500bhp.
