My 1.5 Tsi had its MoT today (passed) however an issue was raised re the tyres. The car is 3 years old, under 15,000 miles and is on the original Bridgestones. I am a gentle driver. The front tyres were 4mm at the lowest point and were showing cracks between some of the tread blocks. The cracks were sufficient for comment but not a fail. The rear tyres were at 6mm and showing only slight cracking. Interestingly the explanation given was that tyres fitted as OEM were built for mpg and mileage and don't respond well to to relative lack of use. Anyone come across anything similar. tom
  2. I have had the Connect Lite dongle on my car for sometime. I have accumulated over 25,000 points. My question is are these points redeemable and how and for what? My car was in for an MoT today and while there I asked these questions and was told that this is a Skoda UK "thing" and not a dealer "thing". Any answers/advice would be most welcome. Another question is if the dongle is removed and replaced will it automatically reconnect with the phone App or do I have to do anything. tom
  3. You can buy an OBD plug that powers accessories. tom
  4. Me...why would you want to make the car so secure you can't open the doors from the inside? Just go to a company that fits deadlocks, plenty fitted to vans and commercials. tom
  5. Regarding the speed rating, why don't you just ask the insurance company? You could also fit smaller wheels, this increases tyre choice. tom
  6. Make sure you are only touching the inside of the handle and not also accidentally touching the sensor on the outside. tom
  7. How easy was it to remove the carpet(s)? Thinking of some extra sound proofing. tom

Is it the same in Eco Mode? I believe that mode "softens" the throttle response. tom
  11. I'm not sure a bought (non Skoda) SD card will work. The Skoda card has hidden files. My dealer updates the Skoda card that is in the car. tom
  12. When I sort out a SD card reader for my MacBook (my iMac that has the card reader has crashed), I might give it a try. tom
  13. Won't work for me. If the dealer didn't do it I'd be stuck as I run a Mac "- Recommended OS for formating is WINDOWS OS." tom
  14. Battery was apparently dead, no little red light.
  15. My car has had two services and I got a free update each time. Next service is due in November and I expect (hope) another free update then. I'm not getting a new SD card each time. The dealer is updating my existing card. It's called "customer service". tom
  16. That's interesting. My car is a MY 2019 (first reg Oct 2018). My wife was locked out with a dead key fob battery She phoned me and I talked her through getting into the car and starting it by pressing the start button with the key fob. The car started OK. Go figure. tom
  17. There is a procedure for starting the car with a dead key battery ...push the starter button with the body of the key. I'm surprised the dealer didn't know this. If the car is locked then you use the key in the door lock like we used to years ago, just prise off the lock cover. It's all in the manual. tom

  19. I have never had a company car. I generally buy my cars and run them into the ground. I bought a TDi 110 Yeti in 2010 and never had a problem until... The emissions "fix", ruined it. Had a free EGR replacement under the "trust building measure" and when the 2 year guarantee ran out I started looking for a non VAG car. Saw the Karoq in my dealer, liked it, took it for a test drive and bought a pre-reg car from stock. I traded in my Yeti had 109,000 miles on the clock. I bought a petrol 1.5 Tsi as my mileage had reduced substantially. I think modern diesels are a flawed technology especially for the lower mileage driver. I stuck with Skoda because I liked the car and I had confidence in my dealer (Vindis, Bury St Edmunds). Glad my car has the "low tech" Amundsen unit, The dealer updates the SD card mapping for me at its annual service. At my age I'm not sure I could deal with modern mapping updates. Looks like your Yeti was a "Friday" car. nice to see you stuck with Skoda. tom
  20. Amazed to see this in the brochure. I have put the relevant bits in bold. "Please note, if a tow bar or tow bar preparation is not fitted on the car, the VIN plate may not show any towing weights and the car will never be eligible for towing. As such it may not be possible to retrospectively fit a tow bar if the car is not fitted with tow bar preparation at Factory. Please speak to your Retailer to confirm the exact towing eligibility."
  21. I think the dealer I use changes the battery as a matter of course at the annual service (and charges me £5 to do it) Next time I'll tell them the battery is new (it isn't) and do it myself when the need arises. There is no problem with a flat battery away from home. Happened to my wife and I talked her through what to do on the phone. tom
  22. Sanqhar replied to Matternoddy's topic in Skoda Karoq
Forgot to say, you need to wait at least 10 seconds to test it. tom

Lock the car with the button on the key fob and within 5 seconds touch the door sensor, this disables the kessy. After this the car can only be unlocked by pressing the button on the key fob. No need fro tin boxes or faraday pouches. tom
  24. Even the Owners Manual (page 65) is not that clear about manual closing "Close manually Close the door slowly, push down the lid, push in the lock on the centre of the edge, above the ŠKODA logo" Manual is here: https://www.manualslib.com/manual/1303555/Skoda-Karoq-2017.html?page=64#manual tom
