I was hoping to avoid typing in what might have been a long list of codes! -
towbar wiring prep - where does it hide?
mbames posted a topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
Thinking about fitting a towbar to the vrs, if the car has factory wiring prep where would you find it (I suspect it doesn't, but you never know - I bought it 2nd hand).... Thanks 🙂 -
Mine stopped working after I fitted a reversing camera boot switch (estate).... not had a chance to investigate why.

Strange engine noise from my vRS TDI
mbames replied to EagleRocky's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
Pop the cover off and check the belt is still where is should be on the pulleys. Sounds a little bit like when the freewheel pulley on the alternator started to failed on my mk1 diesel, -
That sort of thing would do the trick. It would nice if Dell could make a "double" D6000 style unit with the KVM functionality built in https://www.ebuyer.com/790128-dell-universal-dock-d6000-dell-d6000
-
I tend to use both laptops with dual displays. So rather than having 4 monitors on the desk, I'd like to share 2 monitors (both being driven from just 1 laptop at a time, as selected by the KVM 'unit'). Laptops are often on separate networks, so RDP/etc isn't possible.
-
Has anyone seem a solution would will take 2 x DP feeds from 2 different devices and act as a KVM? ie. Laptop 1 -> Dock 1 -> 2 x DP cables -> KVM Laptop 2 -> Dock 2 -> 2 x DP cables -> KVM KVM -> 2 DP monitors KVM -> Mouse & Keyboard Or a unit would could act as a suitable dock for 2 laptops (it would ideally need 2 x network connections, as neither machine would want to drop its network connection when it wasn't in the device displaying output. laptops have USB C output, so would use that to connect to dock / super fancy KVM device....

Octavia 2014 Mk3 2.0 TDi DSG Serviceing
mbames replied to CJW1973's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
Oil filter is accessed from underneath, at the front. You need to remove the under-engine tray/cover. I thought the fuel filter was a replacement paper element (but I can't remember for sure). DSG oil change & filter every 40k. -
I've mounted mine basically the same as the 950 above, but opted to move the front camera to the left of the "lane assist" camera housing. As a driver, I can't see the unit at all, and the camera image doesn't appear to be significantly offset either, and has the advantage of being a little bit higher up Sample video (after it has been 'processed' by facebook) - note it takes about 10 seconds before the stream is displayed in HD quality - look at the text at the bottom, and you'll see when it becomes sharper.

we like cheapness.... maybe I'll add one to my santa list :-)

Sasha, can you post a picture of the tailgate with the camera fitted? I've seen some cameras which you can slight see from behind and it stops the rear and find that sort of ugly.... (worst still a a lot seem to be factory fit like that )

Misting Windscreen and Hatch
mbames replied to gman1967's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
I've thought that all generations of Octavia's don't seem to be very well sealed! Mine lives in garage, but on a 60 mile drive to work in the morning in the rain, I can arrive with the rear windows misted up, and the heat only on at 22 on a low fan speed. Windscreen fine, but the rear of the car seems worse. -
on a hill? have you touched the DSG selector?

BlackVue 'Cloud-Ready' Dashcams - Cautionary Note
mbames replied to Ads230's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
How do these blackvue's gain internet access all of the time? Surely the owners would notice massive uses of their mobile data? -
2017 VRS headlamp washer not working
mbames replied to thomas5265's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
Heated washer won't help if the pipework running to that jet/washer is frozen. -
I had something similar after a spirited overtake. I wondered if the tyre pressures were very slightly out and the increased speed was then just enough to trigger the warning. I did stop and check all the pressures though and then reset the system.
-
I'd explain the fault over the phone, and then they'd never phone me back. Raised it with SUK who then proceeded to fob me off back off to a dealer in Salisbury who then said they would charge to look at the car. I gave up at that point.
-
I used my Lane Assist camera to enable Sign detection, but not got as far as HBA (although I do get an odd warning about it being disabled a few minutes after the car starts (not sure why). My DSG ('14 plate) every now and then flashing up a warning (when it is in D) saying "workshop error, P only to be used when stationary" or something like that. Seems to be much worse in the cold. I tried to get several dealers to look at it, but they were all useless and then the warranty ran out.
-
Mine went off one morning after a spirited drive down a dual carriageway. I pulled over and checked and there was maybe 1psi different between the fronts, but I wondered if the speed (around 70ish) and the slight difference was enough to trigger the warning where was 60 and less it was fine. I adjusted pressures later in the day (cool tyres) and haven't seen the warning since.

I do agree, but I liked the "one-box" (the TV can do DLNA, but is limited in its supported media types) and one remote control solution up till now. I'll give Sony credit for numerous firmware updates to the TV over the years (one every month or 2 to start with, and they have dwindled off now).
-
Thanks all, I've now got a "H96+ plus" on order for £55. About the only smart feature left on my TV will be the TrackId button - Sony which is only about 5 years old I'd guess.
