  1. We're trying to implement Otka at work, and the welcome email it send ticks most of the "spammy" checks quite nicely! Probably as you now missing out the spam filtering which would have been filtering email before it hit your exchange (or whatever) internal mail servers. Pretty sure where I work, about 95% of email is canned off as spam before it reaches the users. It then sits in a spam portal where it can be released if the system gets it wrong, but to be fair I've not had to release anything from it in about 5 years!.
  2. In my case, the "quick warm up" feature didn't work, but I didn't know that feature existed. Basic way to trigger it was a short (3-4 mile) drive at slow town speeds (20-30mph) in light traffic, and then drive up a steep hill again at about 20-30mph. Reach top of hill ===> overheat! I drove the car for another couple of weeks (until the dealer could fit me in), so kept an eye on the temperature gauge - as it seemed the trigger condition is quite unique. My normal drive to work (a bit less town work, and then a longer but more shallow hill) never triggered it. I think that by 2016 the part has been revised, and may not even be the same the on the 150 TDI....
  3. I got the same; that the goodwill comes from the dealer and not SUK. I assume the dealer has to claim it back SUK afterwards. It seems (least what my dealer said) was that SUK would cover 50% of the pump costs. When I took mine in, initially they said it would be 100% covered, so I said "well if you are in there, can you do the cambelt too - I'll just pay for the kit". Afterwards, it went a bit backwards, when they said they'd only cover 50% of the pump. Eventually I went through Facebook and eventually one of their agents phoned me, and I was quite blunt "design fault", etc and that my expected outcome was I didn't want to pay for the pump. Yours is well under miles then. I did play the card of this is my 4th Skoda (and 5th in the family), and never had I seen such a failed designed in any previous Octavias..... End bill for me was: Supply of Cambelt and kit - £197 Supply of waterpump - £0 Labour - £0 Daily loan car costs (was meant to be: £10 per day, I had it 6 days in all) - £0 Key fob battery replaced - £0 Total - £197 Not sure they ever want to see me in their again though. The service manager said "we have lost out on the cambelt fittting, timing, etc and we've changed your fob battery too'. I thanked him most kindly (over the phone - he wasn't in when I collected the car, probably down the pub having a few beers to drown his sorrows).
  4. Surely customers might like to think of their money being spent wisely. Not much point pulling the environmental card; as trucks and busses with their engines running all day do a lot more harm than private cars which only travel around for an hour or two a day.
  5. When you say browse the drive, do you mean as a network share, or with a DLNA enabled application? Try '8player lite' on your iPhone and see if that works. Could it be that the DLNA client hasn't finished indexing all the files on the drive yet?
  6. POP3/IMAP unless you have a live (aka hotmail account) in which case you can use the Exchange Active Sync option.
  7. I've got a professional 8ch system with 30m IR camera (Sony CCDs), which supports internet view, record on motion (in a defined area) with a buffer to record the 10 seconds before the 'motion event' occurs. Have provided the police with footage numerous times for incidents off my property, and some footage has been used in court. A drunk clambered over my orangery roof breaking it and then denied being there - the footage clearly showed his clothing, which matched what he was wearing when picked up by the police a few streets away. As above, avoid the cheaper end of the market - such as Swann.
  8. 3 weeks out of warranty is nothing really (especially if you are under the mileage limit). Mine was over the miles, but under in age. Eventually I got the outcome I wanted, but it took a lot of phone calls - dealer, SUK x 3 and facebook before they eventually caved in.
  9. Should work..... or if you only have need for limited mobile data, could you just use your phone as a wifi hotspot (assuming you have sufficient data on the phone's sim)
  10. My normal work trip (each way) is 60 miles, so I'll whack it into sport for the twisty A-road drive in.... (if I have enough fuel in the tank!!)
  11. I bitched and moan to SUK (mine was just outside of warranty) and got mine changed FOC although it did take a lot of effort. I paid the cambelt kit price (£197) and had that fitted at the same time. Was a right old faff and took a week to get my car back. Twice in the last couple of days I have stopped the car and found the cooling fan running (after a reasonable drive - not crawling through traffic), so wonder if there may be an air lock somewhere.
  12. Previous owner had successfully scuffed them!
  13. I had a brand new one fitted the other day after some w@@kbag drove into my car and then vanished. Makes my other 3 look quite tatty in comparison when viewed up close, but from a distance it is ok.
  14. Depends if the pheasant ends up in the oven.....
  15. I had a 1.6 CR in a mk2 Octym, I found it had to be driven harder (rev'd more) than my old 1.9TDI 110 (mk1), as it lacked the low end 'grunt'. I ditched it and got mk3 vrs cr instead :-)
  16. I only quickly glanced under (was dark) but there was no drive and the track rod end seemed to have a lump of metal hanging off it...
  17. What a great birthday present (for tomorrow). I've already had the car recovered, so my local garage will have a better look in the morning. Guess if bad it might require a new bearing and possibly drive shaft too, this is starting to add up. Will phone the insurance tomorrow and see what they say - at least I have a crime reference no and incident number from the police. Only just got it back from the water pump debarkle.
  18. Some lovely person has clipped my front offside wheel and broken the hub. The car was parked with the wheels turned slightly towards the curb. Thankfully no bodywork damage, but my wheels now point in opposite directions - any idea what costs I might be looking at? Person didn't leave a note or anything, so either it will be insurance or coming out of my pocket
  19. It seemed that the issue my dealer had was that "their" computer was broken, rather than the HQ end of things. Me too, even if I was a bit outside of warranty my argument was that 62k out of a waterpump isn't acceptable. I was a bit like a dog with a bone, plus I had nothing to lose, get stiffed for a massive bill, or get them to pay. I was quite honest with SUK and said I didn't believe that I should pay for the water pump (but did also mention that I had asked for the cambelt kit to be supplied as the dealer said they do that under the warranty bit - to start with). Not sure the dealer will answer the phone to me in the future though, or all conversations will be immediately routed to the service manager
  20. Further update - the dealer has called me (after the last SUK lady phoned him). The cost to me is now just the cambelt kit, with the dealer covering the water pump, fitting and the cambelt tension-ing, etc. They have also replaced the battery in my keyfob which was getting a bit flat too. All in all a great result for me, but not so much for the garage as they fitted the cambelt and have no money for the labour (it seems that SUK have told the dealer to absorb the cost, so I do feel a bit bad about that). It did take a lot of contact though: Phoned SUK Customer services (Monday - Charlotte) - 'nothing we can do' Phoned SUK Customer services (Tuesday - Gemma) - 'I'll speak to the dealer', which resulted in a cheaper price Facebook message (on Tuesday night), which resulted in a phone call yesterday (Beth) and this was the final push for the latest offer. Shall hopefully be collecting it tomorrow mid-morning :-)
  21. Just had a call, mine is now ready to collect. I've been added 120 miles to the citigo each time I've driven it! You'll have to tell me which Witshire dealer you use - I was considering the one in Salisbury and then getting a lift to work from a colleague, but I would have been stuck in the office for a week had been the case!!
  22. That is exactly the conditions which triggered mine - a steep hill at slowish speeds (20-30). SUK current stance, which they refuse to budge from: Water pump design is fine Car is out of warranty Water pumps may only last 62k, but that is hard luck, you may need to replace it twice before you then do a cambelt and water pump change Any-good gesture will will come from the dealer and not SUK (as of Jan 2015, iirc) However, that said, the lady from SUK I spoke to yesterday (after raising it via facebook) said she would speak to the dealer again. That was yesterday lunchtime. I've not heard anything back from either yet. Along with their continuing IT issues, I'm not sure I will even get my car back this week - 7 days without my car for a water pump change.
  23. It is my understanding the car has been put back together with a new water pump. The "Skoda IT Glitch" is still ongoing, and as a result my car has been held hostage at the dealers since Tuesday. Well that, or they have crashed it and are desperately trying to buy some time to fix it. At least SUK phoned me today, so I there is still potential for a bit more of a saving, however SUK claim the water pump design is fine and there are no issues with it... Meanwhile, zero update from the dealer (last I heard from them was on Wednesday mid morning saying they'd phone me with an update later that day).
  24. Now now Always think of the fast getaway, certainly that is my excuse at work
