  1. Which bit are you trying to turn?
  2. Falconers Unit 7 Blackburn Ind Est AB21 0RX You can't skim the head yourself and the valve guides may be damaged.
  3. I would have taken the head to an engineering shop and got them to do all the work so you could just refit it.
  4. You're not charging those batteries anywhere near long enough, leave it on charge overnight.
  5. Nope, it'll be the switch itself, it's easy to replace as well, simply twist the knob the opposite way to release it and pull it straight out of the dash.
  6. Brexit baby, it's an ill wind...
  7. Between the turbo and the intercooler.
  8. I'd look for a slight boost leak.
  9. It does sound like the wiper control unit has failed.
  10. They should fit just fine. Someone will be along shortly to paste in a huge table to confuse matters.
  11. A job like this is a day to strip and a day to rebuild if you're an enthusiast, you need to get the head properly pressure tested and trued in between and carefully inspect the cylinders for any signs of cracks. In fact before you strip it do a proper compression and leakdown test on each cylinder to help identify any issues. I strongly suspect it's been brutally cooked prior to the rebuild and the previous owner cut corners to just get it saleable.
  12. You're missing something. Head lift is caused by bad bolts, not a warped head. You'll need to get the head gasket redone, the previous standard of the work done is unacceptable.
  13. You need to replace whichever one is leaking, they're return hoses.
  14. It does sound like head gasket, the gunk in the expansion tank makes it almost certain.
  15. It doesn't help that the oil cooler is directly after the turbo in the flow diagram, the obvious answer is simply to replace both thermostats with new ones for the avoidance of doubt, since all the other parts of the system are working.
  16. Ken, I didn't quote you because I was referring only to the erroneous claim that it's a built in safety effect. You're in the wrong room for an argument, please head back to the lobby, sit down facing the mirror and wait until you see someone angry-looking.
  17. I wouldn't classify a conspiracy theory about cars being designed to pull away from oncoming traffic as a physical law. You may be barking up the wrong tree Ken.
  18. That's a good catch with the thermostat, having run engines on the dyno I don't like to see oil temps much above 120 degrees because hot spots will be getting marginal, whatever you do don't even think about oil temperatures on the turbo return or you'll have a full on nervous breakdown and need a different forum!
  19. Don't worry about that oil temperature, modern synthetics are fine at temperatures that would have turned mineral oils into a penetrant and you're nowhere near that.
  20. You probably won't find any LED bulbs that'll work with the filament monitoring system and honestly the juice ain't worth the squeeze, just fit normal bulbs, they're only sidelights ferchrissakes!
  21. Wow, who would've guessed that red would fade in the sun, this is why gaily coloured interiors are such a bad idea, apart from the questionable taste of course. Imagine how bad it would be somewhere sunny by now.
  22. Ok, it sounds like the wiring loom in the door boot may have failed, take a close look while you can still open the door.
  23. Apparently the engine blew its load all over the engine bay which suggests a major excursion, to have white coolant residue everywhere would mean radical overheating and potential head casting failure.
