Brake discs - front
It will give you a list of the option code (aka PR codes) which will tell you which options went into the vehicle build. Unfortunately, having checked the options codes for the four Octy 2s we have or have had they don't list the front brakes 😞 Plan B; go to LLL Parts catalogue page 2008 O2 front brakes and use the email there to send your VIN and ask them which disks you need. That should get you a part number.

Brake discs - front
Can you find a copy of the options sticker for your car? It would be in the service book or attached to the shoulder of the spare wheel well behind the carpet.

Solved, thanks. Was brief intermittent squeal on startup, then quiet - BMM 2.0 diesel
'Fraid not. I used to play out with youngsters from the extended McCartney family when they stayed with Paul's dad just down the road from where I grew up. We'd meet the kids en route to school but at the tender age of about 8 or 9 didn't pay too much attention to their backgrounds.

Wales new reduced to 20 mph speed limit in built up areas starts on Sunday 17th September 2023.
The Welsh speed watchers - GoSafe - have pronounced on their 20mph speeding approach: "GoSafe have stated the speed they will start prosecuting drivers for on 20mph roads. Wales has become the first UK nation to introduce a default 20mph limit that now applies on most roads that were previously 30mph, particularly those in residential and other busy built up areas. Welsh Government and police have always said they will take a gentle approach to enforcement with the initial phase being used to engage with drivers seen going over 20mph - apart from those well above the speed limit. Now GoSafe have published their guidelines on the new limit. The normal rule for enforcement is to start issuing fines and points at 10% above limit plus 2mph. But there will be more leeway with the 20mph limit. GoSafe say the threshold will be 10% plus 4mph. This will mean drivers will start getting fines and points at 26mph and above." https://www.dailypost.co.uk/news/north-wales-news/gosafe-announce-speed-prosecute-drivers-27742796

OK, mystery solved and the marine ornithological population can breathe easy again. I did some extended on-site investigation (sat in the car and went through a number of cycles of start, no revs, turn off, wait about 5 minutes, do it again) and noted the squeal was only on 'cold' start and not on a warm start. Revs made no difference. Managed to locate the noise to the top area of the nearside dash and a bit more poking around identified a fan in the window side air blower as the culprit. So, nowt to do with the turbo (thankfully) - although in my defence m'lud the noise was from about the same direction. So, many thanks for the prompt responses; goes to prove just how darned good this forum is. Please note no seabirds were harmed in this exercise. Original post: Either I have a Skua hiding under my bonnet or there's a bearing-type squeal briefly on start up. Once the revs come up the squeal stops. I was wondering if it's a turbo bearing not getting oil on start up but that's a guess. I've checked the sump oil - OK - and no unexpected leaks around the motor. Car is a 2007 Octy 2 2.0tdi with a BMM motor. I've tried forum searches but nothing stands out. Anyone have any more info in this, please?

Front crash bar/ Cross beam/ reinforcement bar replacing
According to the parts catalogues the front bumper bar for a 2007 Octy HERE is the same part number for a 2009 Octy HERE. It seems the VRS and standard Octy are the same - but the Scout is different. The mk3 front end is completely different - HERE.

Wales new reduced to 20 mph speed limit in built up areas starts on Sunday 17th September 2023.
This reminds me of a practical joke we played on our old GP. Bob was often called out for emergencies and decided to go 'official' with the regalia - green lights and nee naws on his car, 'official' medico jacket etc. - so we made him up an emergency responders' safety helmet complete with a battery-powered rotating blue beacon on the crown (we couldn't find a green one). Daft bugger wore it to a press launch and got soundly told off by the local officianadoes - but he still got his piccy in the local rag

Perhaps the colour choice should be flourescent shocking pink, as visibility studies for motorcyclists show that this is the colourway that is most visible. Plus, it would differentiate between legitimate targets - I mean Pagers - on the highway versus disallowed targets off the carriageways.

So would that be one Pager per vehicle - perhaps also wearing a red coat - or one per line of vehicles as per a funeral cortege ? Could do wonders for the unemployment figures!

Broken fog light mount bracket
I have a complete bumper from a 2008 but preFL Octy. I'll take a look at it on Wednesday and see if there's anything than can help you. I've had a look at the parts catalogue but it's not showing anything helpful. Link HERE if you want to take a look.

My second car I owned many years ago, fond memories.
What a great way to learn to drive (well, as long as one doesn't bend the motors, that is). I had some fun driving tractors on my uncle's farm - learning to reverse a grain trailer loaded with 20 tons of grain under a time cosh (harvester was non-stop so i had to be back before the other trailer was full) was errm 'interesting'. I survived but was seriously knackered after a week of that. Follow-up to that was a Summer job working on the local (posh) golf course, where you drove whatever needed driving. First encounter with one of those triple-gang power mowers was something to remember, and then going from one extreme to the other as I was shown how and then supervised whilst close-cutting putting greens. The head greenskeeper used to get down on his hands and knees to inspect the evenness of the cut and heaven help you if you managed a dent in the turf! Corners were NOT allowed on the greens. All maneouvering had to be done off the greens so as not to cause dints.

Is that the model with built-in fire escape? There appears to be no glass in the rear windscreen ...

My second car I owned many years ago, fond memories.
I initially learned to drive at a slightly non-legal age in my Dad's 1934 Riley 9 Kestrel. I remember it had column change preselector gears (useful as I had to slide off the seat to hit the clutch) and those awful wipers - although there was also a handy lever on the wiper motor so one's 'assistant' could help the poor things along. Also thinking about it the wiper motor was electric, not vacuum driven, but it was the slowing down as the revs dropped that made me think of it. The Kestrel was a classic car but it never did much for me in battleship grey. The piccy isn't my Dad's - his was LV 7667.

Body camera recommendations
Both our daughter and my wife are teachers and both with considerable experience in difficult schools. I asked them for ideas of how you might address the terrible situation in which your daughter finds herself, and have included their comments below - hopefully of some help to you: "I would go to the police (if not already done so) governors demand to know what the school. Governors and police are doing If he is religous ie catholic appeal to the church who will be part funding the school Find a new school I wouldnt be sending her back If all else fails go to the press" "If the kids are in uniform when they are doing this stuff the school has a duty of care "safe guarding" to his daughter" "New school! The school sound inept with tackling bullying" "Bodycam may just attract attention and become a theft target"

Speaker Issues
I'd check (if you haven't already) that all connections are good (and no broken wires) and that you have the new speakers wired for the correct phase.

Speaker Issues
Are the new speakers the same impedance as the old ones?

Reversing sensors
As regards dicsonnecting one alone I suspect that would raise a fault (and a beep) which would mask off the others, but you would need to ask of the VCDS experts for a fully informed opinion. There is always the butchers' option - cut an access hole in the lower stretch of the bumper where you would be able to reach the offending sensor, and once done either return the cut piece with some attachment (duct tape, maybe?) or cover with a larger patch and self tap or pop rivet in place. Most people won't see such a modification but of course you will know!
-
Reversing sensors
From looking at a similar problem some while back I believe the only two ways are 1) remove the rear wheel and arch liner closest to the loose sensor and reach in or 2) remove the bumper (fiddly and involves bolts hidden up inside the trim in the luggage space).
