  1. I can't offer a piccy but I was delighted to spot my first sparrow in several years here yesterday. Most of the small birds seems to have disappeared recently and the gardens are dominated by pigeons, seagulls and magpies.
  2. A 10mm spanner would be for a 6mm thread - maybe m6 x 14mm is what you need?
  3. You don't say what model year your car is but the page of engine diagrams for a 2004 1U Octy are HERE, although the AVU engine block is not marked as such. I think it could be THIS one. The oil pump diagram is HERE, although it doesn't show any gaskets - maybe they're listed elsewhere.
  4. The parts catalogue entry with diagram is HERE, but I'd also suspect the wiring bundle in the rubber boot that comes into the driver's door from the front wing. It's a known weak spot on Octavias and I presume Fabias where insulation can harden and conductors break.
  5. I'd try heat and/or a nut splitter. Whizzers are useful tools but there would be a significant risk of damaging the thread.
  6. I did catch one of the Police reporting a 'pothole' which the subtitles reported as a 'bump'.
  7. Welcome to another who prefers 2 wheels to more I'm interested in what aspects of BMW ownership left you unhappy?
  8. Have you tried running with the A/C off and rechecking the fuel consumption?
  9. You can find parts catalogue info for the A3 on the same site as I showed for the Octy; entry page is LLLParts.
  10. FYI Both our 4x4s had/have full depth spare wheel wells, normal spare wheel and false floors. I suggest a close look at the parts diagrams and in particular the PR codes; 'bottom plate for rear' diagram for a 2007 Octy is HERE, scroll down for the parts listing. Item 5 (bottom plate) appears to be the key one and appears under three sets of PR codes: 4P1 = Rear floor panel module, type 2 4P3 = Rear floor panel module, type 4 1X0 = Front wheel drive 1X1 = Four wheel drive - from which I suggest the correct floor panel for a 4WD would be the type 4 - 1Z9813114C. What none of this detective work can uncover is exactly what is different between the various versions of the floor panel. You might also want to look at under body trim HERE, rear axle HERE, brakes HERE, gearbox (for 4wd mounts) HERE, fuel tank and mounts HERE, and a miscellany or electrics/electronics - especially for the Haldex system.
  11. Same for both of ours.
  12. I can't recall the owner's name or handle but I do remember travelling 'dahn sarf' to collect some doors from him for my mk1.
  13. Are you going to rechristen her 'Billy'?
  14. The part numbers are different - 2014 HERE and 2007 HERE - but I can't say if one could be physically 'persuaded' to fit.
  15. According to the parts cattlefrog HERE they're item #12 - W5W-12V5W.
  16. From other members' posts previously yes, the pop rivets are standard. There are details posted somewhere (search needed) on the correct pop rivets for reassembly.
  17. Good Morning, and welcome You can't be that much of a 'virgin' if you're on to your second Octy. Hopefully you weren't hurt in the bump and that you get sorted out OK.
  18. Have you looked at the link? The picture definitely does not show a sump gasket of any sort. I've tried general searches on skoda-parts.com for 'cbzb sump gasket' and 'octavia sump gasket' but nothing shows. I suggest you try a call to a Skoda dealer in the hope that either their parts people or a mechanic can shed any more light. BTW how about making one up using RTV?
  19. I'm not sure if this helps or confuses further but the parts catalogue page for the CBZB engine block and sump HERE only indicates gasket goo and not a formed gasket for the sump.
  20. You do good work, Pete, Thank you.
  21. Item #2 on the parts catalogue page HERE. There used to be loads of pattern versions on fleabay (I bought one a couple of years back) but not much turning up under the part number today. Try 'Octavia 2011 wheel arch liner' and also take a look at skoda-parts.com and search on the description an part number.
  22. Welcome Steve. I'll be letting my mate know as he used to have a Felicia and also loved it.
  23. Just a thought; have you fingertip checked all round the tyres after a run where you felt the wobble? I'm wondering if you have a tyre balloon developing that expands when hot but settles back on cooling.
  24. Your local Skoda dealer should be able to tell you from the registration number or VIN.
  25. Sounds like a plan ...
