  1. When I did mine it could be done but needed a replacement aftermarket ECU. Would have been something like £2k+ for the stuff needed and the maps from the guys I use. Decided it wasn't worth it. Just drive more gently if needed which 2as easier with the new map being smoother anyway.
  2. I would find a car that is fwd as the scrap car. The AWD gearbox will add too much complication. If you know that part will work than I don't see why the beam rear end will struggle as it's not carrying any drive. Shocks might not fit though.
  3. Those tyres should offer good comfort. Have you checked the pressures? Mqb cars are quite sensitive to tyre pressure. Also comfort has many factors. My old Octavia was more comfortable to drive after lowering and upgrading shocks. The body control meant I didn't have to brace myself in the seat while cornering. It was much stiffer though and Mrs g82 didn't appreciate it most of the the time. Apart from long journeys. We both felt fresher after the mods. Also the tyre model contributes to comfort and feel.
  4. Originally had them up for £300 as that was what I paid for the tyres so figured used tyres and used wheels..... Tbh they are not spotless but the price reflects that. Happy to let them go for less depending how easy it is to get them to their destination. We can take it to pm to avoid forum moderation.
  5. Might fit but the tyre size is wrong. I have a set of 18 inch seat fr wheels gathering dust that you can have for not loads. Same fitment as vrs 18d. Just need winter tyres on them. They have tyres currently (Goodyear efficient grip performance) that are less than 1k miles old. Just want them out of the garage.
  6. Ah yes, there are the more recent models with mib3. No other models do it.
  7. Don't think any superb is wireless enabled so that answers that. AA wireless is currently the best way.
  8. No adapter will help. It's a coding thing. It might be able to be hacked but it would likely cost as much as Skoda doing it while losing any warranty. Paying the dealer is the most efficient way.
  9. That's too close IMO. Can you not go narrower? 8.5 or 9 with slightly lower offset should be fine.
  10. Try the scala section for a start. You don't need the original dealer to get this sorted. £130-160 per car at any Skoda dealer should unlock it. Really is that simple. They might even do you a group discount.
  11. I wouldn't rely on those searches. Often give multiple versions not suitable. Relatively straightforward to make sure though. Mostly base around sizes so you can measure what you already have.
  12. There is a saving if nearly all your journeys are sub 20miles. Then you have a big car for shifting stuff about and an engine for when you go on holiday to Scotland. Running it in sport mode just to gain a few more miles from the battery (while having fun) is not what this type of car is for. If you want to keep burning dinosaurs get a car that doesn't run on electricity.
  13. If you drive a golf R it saves the battery even more. No point having a phev if you are just going to run it on engine the whole time.
  14. As above. At this stage in the models life they are too young to really be considering such mods. Maybe when they are 10+ years old and in a position to replace the main battery anyway. It's definitely something I'll be looking into down the line. By then there should be battery upgrade packs. Maybe removing the ice and swapping in some cells is an idea. Issues would be slow charging for a bigger pack and weight distribution. Also minimal range for a potential large mod cost. At that time you be looking at 200+mile range for cheap EVs.
  15. Yeah sorry. I keep forgetting to get photos. Not convinced the ride height changes with special actives. B6 on stock springs does raise it slightly. At least it did on my Octavia. B6 ride is a fair bit firmer than the konis so lowering springs make it quite hard. Manageable and fun, but hard. Yes the rubber pads are from the TT.
  16. First proper trip out today with the family loaded in the car. Mix of A, B and motorway. More comfy all round. Rear roll bar helped the car track nicely and improved the confidence through turns. I want to try it on the hard setting but will wait a while as I have more pressing DIY to be getting in the way.
  17. I imagine it's not type compliant so not covered by insurance or whatever else. As a critical safety device I wouldn't be changing the way it works personally.
  18. Makes you realise why there isn't much European footage on dash cam channels.
  19. What tracks in the UK or even Europe have straights long enough for that? Anyone considering it for UK roads needs their head checking. As above. 155 is quite fast. Not sure I'd want to do that for long on an autobahn. Did 110 for 30 mins or so in Germany a few years back then reigned it in to 80 for the rest of the trip. The gain speed on slower vehicles is frightening when you get past 3 figures.
  20. Is that right? Recording in public etc?
  21. That must be one of the differences with the VW. I don't have battery reserve. Modes are EV, hybrid, hold and charge. First two should be obvious. Hold keeps it at whatever you are at and charge just keeps charging.
  22. This is my thoughts with my driving style and the types of towns I drive in (not big cities). I would prefer to coast as these cars coast very well. Also encourages the ice to shut off when in hybrid mode at whatever level of charge. I do quite often down shift to add some regen to the coasting if I find I am coming to a junction or corner quicker than expected. I realise it does the same thing when you use the brake pedal but there is more chance of the energy going to the battery on pure regen with downshift or b mode. As a rule I will coast as much as possible. I am quite a sedate driver and try to be predictable to other road users to aid flow and safety. This driving style lends itself well to economy.
  23. Lower cruising speed isn't always practical in UK due to the speed limit and how others use the roads. You'll be getting tangled up with much larger vehicles maybe even using more fuel to get out of spots. 71 on mine just tips Waze into the red so is fairly accurate. As for mpg. As above expect around 45. I have my acc set to eco so it's not so one-off. At least it feels smoother and I get the impression it's not using unnecessary fuel.
  24. That's another thing to look into. B mode isn't necessarily the most efficient. Coasting is often a better use of the energy you've expelled as you will never recoup enough through regen to gain it back. B mode is great for the comfort of driving though.
  25. @j caff it's definitely a change in driving style needed to get the most from it. Stuff like turning off the AC, coasting, etc. Or just plug it in drive it and enjoy. It's not the same as a TDI or a TSI. It's a phev that needs a different style of driving.
