  1. What's the width? Offset is only half the picture. What's the offset and width of standard wheels? I have 20mm spacers fitted on stick wheels and they look good.
  2. Pretty sure the 4x4 has the same dampers as vrs. Fitting vrs springs should offer an acceptable ride.
  3. That's interesting. I'll be keeping an eye out.
  4. Did you get the b6 damptronic or are you still stock but lowered.
  5. I don't get any. Not sure what the description is on about. I've used it on/off for a number of years. First on phone and then on AA. Never seen an add.
  6. Waze (available on Android auto) has live traffic, speed and cameras etc. It uses Google map data so always up to date. As an alternative TomTom is now available as an app on Android auto. I tried it but returned to Waze.
  7. Just use Waze if you are happy to use the very little data it relies on.
  8. @Ivan8192 no, planning on keeping the Passat long term. Still on here as a hang up from my Octavia. Was looking for a superb but ended up with a Passat GTE. I think the rails are different between them. Passat has flush fit while the superb has raised.
  9. As above, WD-40 is NOT a lubricant. Find a silicone or grease spray. I have found similar so plan get a can of grease and climb under the car for 10 minutes. Once a year should suffice... for me anyway.
  10. I had the Yakima low profile ones on my Octavia and never noticed they were there. Passat now has the Thule wing type with stick out bits. Got them to be able to tie off on the ends. Aim was to take them off but they have been fitted since getting them in January. Should probably take them off.
  11. Shirley a finance deal is a finance deal. If it's written in the t's & C's they can't stop it. I think the "feature" is there so you can hand the car back in the 14 day cooling off period. I think each deal is different. Any bonus you may get for repeatedly going back to the same dealer bis between you and the dealer. Vwfs don't care where the money comes from.
  12. Don't see why not. Did it last year for MrsG on seat finance. They have a 14 no penalty setup usually don't they? As far as I know the perks are a deal with the dealer and the finance is purely with the finance company.
  13. There is a drive mode selector next to the gearstick. Should allow at least electric, hybrid, battery hold and battery charge.
  14. @Roberto280 thanks. That makes sense. The firm feeling is exactly my experience of them. Not necessarily a bad firm. Just a more supportive ride. I keep coming back to the fancy valving of the fsd/special active and all the rave reviews they get on various cars.
  15. Standard research based on internet trawling. Found some stories of shocks only lasting 30k or the paint being so thin the rust kicks in after installation scratches. Not heard the same about bilsteins. The opposite in fact. The reputation is that they last longer than most. I'd also say that 100k is acceptable as a durable set of shocks. Especially compared to the 30k stories above. Were you happy with them on the legacy? Could you summarise your feel if the two makes in a couple of lines?
  16. Can anyone comment on my musings? Pretty sure I won't go lower (at least for a while), so could any comment on the durability of the konis Vs the bilsteins bearing in mind that the konis offer a more comfortable ride (from the various reviews I've seen). I think if B6's were valved slightly softer it would be the best compromise. I like stuff to last.
  17. Pretty sure only the Columbus system can have 2 connected at the same time. Should be able to have many paired but don't know how you would easily bring a phone up if you get a call on the one that isn't connected at the time. Maybe there is a way to select it in the phone menu.
  18. I've come across this sort of behaviour in the past. Had a Laguna that was an uncommon spec so Renault tried the "limited edition" route. Told them to shove it and did the work myself for normal prices.
  19. You should be getting at least double that if not triple with mostly motorway miles. Are both wearing the same? Are the motorway surfaces particularly hard on tyres or are they boggo tarmac?
  20. I've been putting off getting these due to the durability of the konis. Had B6s on my old car but they are quite stiff. Not averse to the stiffness (umm...) but the reviews of these konis are sending me in circles. Similar with lowering springs but I don't want my new car to be as stiff as the old one. Does a low and stiff setup lend itself better to independent rear suspension better than torsion beam?
  21. That's likely got the dry clutch dsg (dq200). I'd do some homework on that based on the above info from root. Many have found them to be quite reliable but memory says you need to be careful how much slow speed creeping you do as the clutches don't have the same cooling capacity as wet variant.
  22. If you have Columbus then you can use the original screen for mib2. 2.5 needs a later screen.
  23. Dont forget you have the +/- settings too. Its worth leaving in comfort or sport and playing with the micro-adjust. You might find you prefer a major setting higher or lower than you expected because of it. Sounds like you are happy with it though.
  24. We have the engine in a Seat Arona. Had the fix applied quite soon after picking it up at 18 months old. It's MrsG's car so I did drive it much before the fix but can confirm it's not as lively. Not sure on the peak power as I rarely get to give it that much but I almost wish we had got the 1.0 110ps. Drove the 90ps version in a vw up recently and it was great fun.
  25. Thanks @Angelo Amato. I think I'll be going B6 if/when I change them. Car flew through MOT with no leaky shocks spotted so will have to wait a little while. That is despite me not seeing the speed bump on the garage driveway and diving at it at 20mph! Its good to hear more success stories of improvements though.
